At this point we would not think to even consult anyone else. We demand the best quality, and always know we can rely and depend on their care and craftsmanship. We are sticklers for perfection and they always exceed our expectations. Our creative ideas are seldom standard or run-of-the-mill, yet they responded to every challenge and detail. Their installation team is also top-notch, taking great care to get things done right the first time and solve problems before they arise. After the cabinetry was done, we had a Miele dishwasher installed in the kitchen by the Miele team and they said in all their years they had never seen cabinetry laid out to their specifications with such precision. If there were 6 stars available to give as a top review, we'd still be looking for the 7th star to say about their work. Architectural Millwork is the best.

I drive this road 4-5 times a day to get to and from home and work and have never had any issues or noticed any debris on the road. The one day the were doing work, a nail ends up in my tire. After speaking with the company, they flat out refused to even acknowledge that there was a possibility that this nail came from their site. I don't believe it is a coincidence that an active construction site and a nail ending up in my tire is just a freak stroke of bad luck. They claimed to have street swept the site the day before but the woman on the phone did not know what to say when I asked if there was a possibility the street sweeper missed the object that ended up in my tire. It is clear by circumstantial evidence that they missed something when cleaning up, yet now I have to pay for their mistakes. As a small business owner myself, their lack of customer service and negligence appalls me. If anybody is looking to contract out this company for their construction needs, be warned. They don't care if they damage other peoples property and will inevitably make your company look bad.

Electrical nightmare. Buyer beware and run away as fast as you can! I recently had my A/C unit…read moreassessed for annual maintenance, after taking over property. My sister had hired Ken with Murdoch's to install a central air conditioning unit into our two-bedroom condo. My contractor and a new HVAC company I found on Yelp independently evaluated the air conditioning system and pointed out several significant issues: 1) this unit is not up-to-code (later found it was highly illegal). In fact it lacks several required features to be properly permitted in SB county (like a sediment trap), 2) structurally not sound: built on indequate cavity, not bolted down, not cocked; 3) dangerous- hose made of plastic that isn't insulated and runs right next to water heater; 4) half-complete job: unit installed in closet and attached to a flu with asbestos, and additionally not secured to the roof; 5) missing fuse box. When I contacted Ken with my concerns, he came to evaluate. After treating me very poorly in, what I perceived to be, a patronizing condescending way, I put him on the phone with the HVAC approved-by-Yelp owner, who explained the issues. Ken tried to minimize all issues and said "these are all little things" and "I can fix these for you." I pointed out to Ken that it was missing a sediment trap and he pointed at the PVC trap and said that was the sediment trap. Thankfully at this point my husband came home. While it is 2021, Ken didn't treat me like it was, so I'm happy my husband came home and reinforced the issues. When my husband pointed out that the PVC was not the sediment trap, he said "it's not necessary." According to the 2016 California Plumbing Code CPC, it is 100% required. Needless to say, I have opted to have the errors resolved by the Yelp-approved-HVAC company instead. I would never ever recommend this company. Bad business. Severe FIRE danger. Additionally, I had the unit repaired and surprise! Worse then imagined! Repairs revealed further issues: the unit was surrounded with COMBUSTIBLE material, and there wasn't a separation between the unit and shower in the wall. Ken also chose a 2-ton unit and should've chosen a 3-ton, but that's a minor detail. I'm more upset about electrical wiring system which was also done inaccurately and could've resulted in fire. I contacted Ken, who offered to fix the issues he didn't acknowledge seeing and downplayed in the first place. I asked if he'd be willing to cover the expenses for the external company I went with. He declined. What he did right was coming out to visualize and offering to take care of it. What he did wrong- not acknowledging the significant errors, apologizing, and not treating me with respect.

Goleta H&R Block Two…read moreyears ago our long time tax preparer retired. Last year and again this year we just went with H&R Block in the Fairview Center, Goleta. Both years they were incredibly slow and did not return calls or respond in a timely manner. This year, 2024, for the 2023 tax returns I was a bit blown away. As we went through all the documents with the "Sign Here" tags on them I carefully read what each document entailed. Two of the documents had absolutely nothing to do with preparation of our tax returns. One document authorized H&R Block to spam our mobile phones with their advertising. The other authorized H&R Block to sell our contact information to other spammers so they too could spam our mobile phones and email. Additionally, the bottom line fee for H&R Block did not include a discount that was offered. We declined to sign the spam authorizations and asked that the discount be included in the bill. I got my credit card out and was ready to pay. The representative who was assisting us took the documents and said she would have to return them to the tax preparer, who was not going to be back in the office until the following Tuesday, to redo the documents. I told her that neither the IRS nor California Franchise Tax Board cared one whit about the spam notices or discount on their bill so I didn't understand why the preparer would have to "redo" the documents. But she insisted that it was necessary to return all the paperwork to the preparer. I asked to speak with the Enrolled Agent (EA) for the office. She informed us that the office did not have an EA assigned. We'd have to go to the Santa Barbara office to speak to an EA. It's "that" Tuesday as I write this post. My wife called the office to make sure the agent was in. She was informed that the agent would call us back sometime within the next two days. Never again. Next year we will find a local tax prep office in the Santa Barabra/Goleta area. It will not be H&R Block.
