Wanting to venture out and see what else was out there I went to the Midland parks and recreation website and found a list of playgrounds in the area. We decided to go to Grafa Park today and WOW! It. Is. AWESOME!! The playground is HUUUUUUGE! There is so much to do on it: climb, slide, explore! It's super tall too (which, with a 18mo, I had to get up there with him because the openings for the ladders make me SUPER nervous.) But, hey, it was so much fun for me too!!! The slides are GREAT! There is also a huge walking track around the reservoir(???) I think that's what it is. My kids (and I) LOVED it! We brought a sub sandwich, chips and our drinks and had a picnic at one of the many picnic tables here. There are also plenty of benches and shade trees too! So glad we found this park! We can't wait to come back!!!!

This is a very sweet park which we are so happy to have found! It's not so big but there's a…read morewonderful play structure on one end and a big lawn with a walking trail on the perimeter. And best of all, lots of SHADY TREES! We've found an evening walk here to be a nice way to wind down the day. It's very relaxing as there's often a cool breeze funneling under the trees and a high gate between the park and the road to protect from all the cars. Nestled enough within a neighborhood that it isn't dusty (locals know what I'm saying!) and full of people playing with their dogs and families until sun down, so it feels very safe. About the dogs - they've always been good boys and girls and we have had no problems at all with them. However, we have found a lot are actually off leash when they play so just an FYI, if it's not your thing.

This is a fairly nice park, though empty on a Saturday in the Texan Spring, probably because it's…read more102 Degrees. We came to use the dog park but contrary to what's listed, there isn't one. Nice baseball, soccer, and softball fields and general grassy areas. You can book the fields in advance for private games or for more recreational, group sports and there are bright lights in the evening to light up the fields (necessary when the day is 102!). No picnic tables or very much shade though, so probably not the best for just hanging out.

We've been to this playground a few times and the kiddos have a good time! I think there is enough equipment to keep the kids busy. I like that there is rubber ground cover on most of the playground. Some also has the wood chips. This playground is nestled in a sports complex so I am sure it would be great for other siblings not playing sports. All in all, a nice playground. We'll be back.

This place is also referred to as the Watersong Wild Space. The weather could not have been more perfect on that Sunday, January 4, 2026. It's not the most amazing place due to the dry climate and flat lands, but for Midland it was a cool find - plus it was all free. Free parking. Free entrance. I could definitely hear the droning tires on the Interstate nearby, but viewing nature was refreshing. A caliche road leads to the parking lot. Look out for mesquite trees that might scratch your vehicle up if you get too close. The biggest drawback had to be that dogs are not allowed. No bicycles allowed either. Just please have your party dispose of their trash properly at the main pedestrian entrance. Closed on Monday.

I took a morning walk here with my friend and her two dogs…read more It looks small but there were a decent amount of trails from which to choose. The trail is so west TX with mesquite trees and dry dirt everywhere. We saw a cute quail flying by and then scurrying across the trail. The dogs loved it and there's also a dog park for them across the street. The nature center is also next to a golf course. It was a great start to our day and beautiful watching the sun rise.

Have brought my kiddos to this playground a few times so far! We LOVE it here!…read more It's a decent sized playground with enough equipment to keep the kids busy and not bored. I even enjoy climbing up the main structure and going down the 2 HUGE slides! The kids appreciate that there are "different" play equipment at this playground... the wiggly/wobbly balance apparatus is really neat and the spinning "merry-go-round" is awesome! I like that there is artificial turf as a ground cover. (Not a huge fan of the wood chips under the swings... there always seems to be singing ants in wood chips). There is minimal shade here, mainly just above the large main structure. Another mother I was speaking to said she wished more playgrounds had cover/shade. There is a small pond with a dock next to the play area. That makes me a bit nervous as my middle child has no fear... I can just picture her wandering over there if I take my eyes off her for a split second! All in all, a solid playground. Hasn't been busy during any of our visits. We'll definitely be back!

This is an awesome place to stop on any road trip, especially if you've never had the chance to see…read morethe real Stonehenge in the UK! They did a great job recreating it (at a smaller scale, of course) but it's still amazing to see up close, and you're allowed to walk through the pillars here, whereas in the UK you can't get anywhere near the actual Stonehenge pillars. We were on a road trip and when I heard about this place, I knew we had to swing by and experience it for ourselves. It was only about 15 minutes out of the car, but when you're driving across the massive emptiness of West Texas, every cool stop is worth the chance to stretch your legs. Check it out if you're driving through!

Stonehenge in Texas?…read more Actually it's a "Stonehenge Replica" of the mysterious United Kingdom sight, but it's still pretty cool. Located on the campus of the University of Texas Permian Basin, these sculptures are perfect for the setting... the bright football stadium lights in the background certainly give it a different meaning. Lol. Yeah, it's obvious it was "mechanically-cut" not to mention "stacked with cranes." But the saving grace, Paul D. (review from 1/27/2020), is not that this is a free permanent outdoor art exhibit, but that this sparked so many questions from my daughters, ages 9 & 10. We visited on Good Friday 2024. It was awesome to experience their curiosity and listen to their hypotheses on everything from the real deal far across the pond to the planning of this development. This would be even better to view at night time in my opinion, but our schedule did not allow for us to stay longer. Seniors and graduate students of the college stopped by to capture graduation photos while we were there. Ample, free parking.

The playground itself isn't HUGE but they had fun. I don't really like how far away the swings and spinning equipment is from the main playground. It's hard to keep an eye on different kids when they are so spread out. I did like that the main playground has the rubber ground cover but the swings and the spinning "thing" had those messy wood chips There are MANY walking paths around the park. They all zig zag around. Incorporated around the trails are some built in workout equipment. A couple picnic tables are here as well so pack a lunch! I guess they are fracking right next to the playground. There is a huge barrier wall which I had to inquire about. I was told that was supposed to help sound proof... I didn't hear anything so either it works or they weren't actually doing it at the moment. We liked this park so we'll be back.
