My health insurance hadn't kicked in in time so I was shunted rudely into the public system. But after a few visits here, they were really nice, everything was really new and best of all, I gave birth around Christmas New Years when everyone does and I was accidentally given a private room (score). No sharing for me and a little bedside window couch too for my husband to sleep on. Having said that though, cosmetics aside, sure the rooms are awesome, the labour ward looks better than your own room and has all of the state of the art equipment. In fact when I gave birth, I had about 20 people in there, a full resus team, a whole bunch of new residents (ahh the joys of the public system) and 2 doctors (probably residents too). I was a bit panicky because I'd never had a child before and my labour was reaching its 29th hour... and i'd been pushing my little heart out for a good 2 and a half hours. Long story short, the baby pooped in the water bag and they were all worried it had breathed some of it in. I have no doubt they were the best of the best and if anything went wrong, well, they have the states only and most state of the art neonatal care division so I wouldn't have to be transferred anywhere if anything did go wrong. This made up for the service... the midwives kept coming into my room and being rude to my husband, I think in the 3 days I was there I saw about 10 different midwives, all treating us differently... they were all kind of nice-ish, but they were treating us like a number, which I think comes with the whole public system thing. For example, I had no idea I was supposed to feed my baby right after giving birth, and I wanted 8 hours for a midwife to rotate in and ask me when the baby had last been fed and I replied... I haven't fed him yet. Met with a hmph and a 'well the midwife before should have made you feed him...' yeah yeah whatever. Baby malnourished here. Come on get your act together. But you get that. Overall, an excellent facility.

Although the wait times, going through the emergency department are long and not entirely consistent, the quality and respectfulness of the medical and administrative staff is very good. It was my local GP clinic receptionist who recommended I switch over to the Mater, after the last straw at another major across the river, and I am not looking back. Go the Mater !!

It has been a while since I was here but have recently came back to sort out some minor health…read moreissues which I had been treated for at a traditional doctor but not had luck. Andrew is the Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Doctor with the clinic and is the person I come to see here. I have been seeing Andrew for about 2 years and he is wonderful. He has helped me so much with headaches, migraines and digestion issues. He does not 'hard sell' but will recommend a program for you with acupuncture, massage and herb treatments. It has only been a week since I have seen him but have had no headaches and my digestion is much improved. Andrew is also a fertility specialist helping people if are having trouble conceiving. He has told me that he has a really high success rate. The prices are a little higher than what I have paid for in the past but I have no issue with that if the person treating me is good and can cure - or at least help me - with issues. I absolutely highly recommend Andrew and his services. His services are in high demand and an appointment is necessary. It looses one star as I do not think the receptionists are on their game. I have been there on occasions where they have forgotten to charge me for things or charged me incorrectly and have had to ring me to pay over the phone.

This is a small little practice that divides its space and resources between dental and physio,…read morethough I've only ever experienced the dental side of things. I've been here a handful of times in between hating and trying to find other dentists. In case I haven't made it abundantly clear in my past dentist reviews, I hate them. The very thought of stepping inside a dental surgery (even if it's just for a standard clean) makes me quake in my boots. They simply horrify me. Who likes using ridiculously shaped utensils to poke about in someone's mouth? Anyway, let's put my bias aside for a moment. Mitchelton Dental didn't do much to assuage my fears. It's not their fault; I'm a pretty bad patient in a dental chair. And during my last visit I had to have a bit of a painful procedure, so I can't shift all of the blame onto them, because the dentist I had was really quite lovely to me. She just didn't tell me what the hell she was doing in my mouth as tears were rolling down the side of my face. If I'm going to suffer through someone poking and prodding and grinding small machines around in my mouth, I'd like to be kept informed, that's all I'm saying. More basic procedures and cleans aren't dreadful here at all and they actually do a good job, leaving an exceptional finished product (according to my new dentist). I'm just a massive chicken and like to be molly-coddled while I sit in a dental chair. They do bulk bill here too, by the way. Hopefully I haven't scared you off. The reception staff and dentists I've had here have all been very friendly and accommodating, so I'll definitely recommend them; they just weren't a good fit for me. But like I said, I'm a ridiculously shaky scaredy-cat.

I found my perfect…read moreDentist while living in Canada and didn't know what to do when I moved home to Australia and a friend of a friend recommended this place. I am so impressed with them! They make me feel at ease and calm me down so much. If you are unfortunate enough to need a filling, ask them about using their rubber lining - it is amazing and not all dentists do this. They put this contraption in your mouth which looks super scary, but actually stops all the yuckiness of a filling going into your mouth and just sits in this rubber thing instead. They are all super lovely and it is a really nice environment.... as far as a dentist goes.
