We are…read morenewer to Wichita Falls and still hadn't found our dentist home (we are often on the road for months at a time both in and out of the country). We were new patients to Spearmint Kids Dental and it started off great. They saw us quickly, receptionists were friendly and rates were competitive. It seemed that the recommendations were correct and we were happy to have found our dental home. My daughter's front teeth were pretty bad from overnight nursing. She also had a cap come off of one of the back teeth. She wasn't in any pain at the time of the appointment and was able to sit by herself (she is only 3 and a premie so sitting in the large chair was difficult). Dr. Garret was awkward and very short when he came in to go over my daughters teeth. He hardly looked at her mouth or Xrays and instead asked us questions as to why we left our old dentist to come to him. He referred us out of office for the majority of the work but claimed that he was able to fix her back tooth after the holidays. He told us to watch for swelling and/or pain and to call the specialist about addressing her front teeth. We left not sure about Dr. Garret but still confident in the reviews so we purchased the plan sold to us at the front desk. It did make financial sense after all. A little more upfront, but it would even out after her next visit. Over the holiday my daughter's pain started. Salt water swishing was added to my daughter's routine after every time she ate. We woke throughout the night with her. Taught her how to eat on the other side of her mouth and waited for the dentist office to open. As soon as the office opened my wife called and the office made an appointment for her right away. We were ecstatic and my wife cancelled her previous engagements and I took off work to help control my daughter during the procedure. We were about to leave for the appointment when Spearmint Kids Dental called us back stating that they changed their mind and that they would not work on my daughter's teeth at all. They claimed that the specialist would need to address all of my daughter's teeth. We explained that we had left messages with the specialist but the were not open today and wouldn't open until Monday. The lady claimed that Dr Garret refused to see our daughter and would not perform ANY work on her mouth including the rear tooth. So not only is my daughter going to be in pain for days now (not that dentist should care about that or anything). Not only are we in limbo to see if this other dentist has capacity to see my daughter or when (they are closed for the next few days). Not only did we alter our schedules and were forced to take off work and miss prior arrangements. James Garret blatantly lied to our faces and then hid behind his assistant to cancel on a procedure he had previously committed to. Needless to say we are still looking for our family dentist.

So I decided to switch to Spearmint, Dr Garrett and I called and the receptionist was so sweet and made both our children appointments on the same day and answered all our questions. I can't wait to update after their appointments. As for my mom she said she would give him a 10 star if she could and highly recommended Spearmint on every level and one of her grandchildren have autism and is 17 years old and has never been comfortable with the dentist until she found Dr Garrett 2 years ago so now he looks forward to seeing the dentist and I highly trust my mom's opinion she is very picky when it comes to her grandchildren she has been raising since birth! I'm excited to see this dentist.

Background: I was a patient of the clinic for many years…read more(back when her dad was the dentist. I have never had anesthesia for fillings or cleanings in my life because there isn't a need. Reason for low review: We had a snow storm earlier this month, and she closed her clinic Thu & Fri because of it. She is closed Sat & Sun. I had been dealing with a low-level pain for a month using self-care. As luck would have it, the pain intensified that Wed night. I was unable to close my mouth or eat. Just touching the tooth with floss was excruciating. The clinic opens at 8 AM. When I didn't receive the call I was expecting, I called in and was told she doesn't arrive in until 9. When I finally got the call at 10 I was told I had to wait until Wed. I found an emergency dentist who could see me in 30 minutes, so I went to him. He told me I had fractured a root, would need antibiotics and at least a root canal. He got me in to see the endodontist a few hours later. I was told the tooth needed to come out & have an implant placed. By the time I saw the endodontist, the pain was still severe, but not excruciating (the antibiotics and naprosyn had kicked in). Once I saw the oral surgeon & had the dates, I called back to Montgomery's clinic to give them the update. I was informed that I was no longer going to be seen by Andrea because I went to another dentist when she couldn't fit me in. Her receptionist was very apologetic, saying she told Andrea several times that my pain was excruciating...Andrea simply didn't care. As a patient, I am stunned by her selfish callousness. As a physician, I am appalled by her rudeness, lack of empathy, and lack of professionalism. The truly sad part about this is that the hygienist I usually went to is AWESOMENESS personified. The front desk staff are top notch. Andrea does not deserve such loyal people! See Dave G's note: apparently I an not the only one to be so poorly treated.

From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by an incredibly friendly staff. The office is spotless, well kept, honestly it feels more like a model home than a dental office. It also has a cool play/wait area for kids with movies playing. Our consultation was excellent. Dr. Johnson took the time to explain everything to both us and our son, ensuring everyone understood what to expect. He provided options, his recommendations and genuinely listened to our thoughts and concerns. We just finished up our 3rd visit and couldn't be happier. The entire staff from the techs to the front desk have been wonderful. We specifically worked with Ava, she was fantastic throughout the entire process. She explained each step during setup and prep, making sure our son felt comfortable and at ease. Dr. Johnson really is great with kids.
