I had a root canal and tooth extraction on same day last July 2025 . As of today, my tongue is still 50% numb and the root canal was found to be be incomplete. I needed to have the root canal "redone" as it later became painful and a "second opinion" revealed one root was totally missed. The Dentists of Carson City have not been very helpful and were unwilling to discuss the two root canals (on same tooth) with me when I asked to speak with someone other than the front desk staff. read more

Being new to Carson City I needed to find a dental office I chose Dentist of Carson City. I needed a cleaning and I was overdue arriving in Carson in mid November it had been 8 months since my last cleaning. I knew I would have to establish things being new in town so I went through all the tests regular x-rays,the full head x-rays the regular exam by the dentist and a tooth by tooth exam rating each one, NO! Cavities YAY! this was a long process just to get a normal cleaning which wouldn't have been done today anyway because I have to be established! first. It was suggested I should have a deep cleaning / scaling no big deal, I had a choice to make whether I wanted that procedure done. I waited while they checked with my insurance coverage, after waiting about 20 minutes the Office Assistant returned stating that my insurance would not cover the deep cleaning, this was the first time using this dental insurance since I moved out here. So all in all my exam was good no major problems so I decided to just do the normal cleaning. So this is where it takes a turn after being there an hour just to get through the process of being a new patient I was informed that I can't get my regular cleaning like any normal patient I must do the deep cleaning before I can get my (standard teeth cleaning) no! choice! for $1,500.00 I have Never! seen anything like this, anytime you have a medical procedure done you have a choice whether to do it or not. I chose to just to schedule a regular cleaning and I was told I can't do that I must have the $1,500.00 procedure done first. (I CAN"T GET A NORMAL TEETH CLEANING). P.S. I scheduled an appointment for a simple teeth cleaning. Instead, after an extensive series of X-rays and examinations, I was informed that additional work was required and was released without receiving the cleaning. My insurance was still billed. Six months later, I called again to confirm if I could finally have my teeth cleaned and was told yes. However, the same situation occurred, more upselling for additional procedures, no cleaning performed, and once again, my insurance was billed. What happened to providing a straightforward service? Then they told me it would cost thousands to "fix" my teeth.... I'm elderly and don't need any fixing. Told them I just wanted a cleaning, so they made me another appointment. Upon arriving for my dental appointment 30 minutes early to fill out any paperwork, I was given the shocking news that my appointment was cancelled just the day before! NO phone call, no text, no e-mail, nothing!! They wanted to reschedule me another 6 weeks out! If this is how they do business, they don't need mine!! I always get so much anxiety when I have to go to the dentist, but everyone there made me feel comfortable - starting with Archey the office manager - very friendly and professional. I had a scheduled appointment on Nov. 13th for a regular 6-month cleaning and check-up. Upon check-in, the office Manager Mr. Kovich checked me in and said there was no charge for today's service (My insurance pays for twice a year regular cleaning and check-up) but I had to sign for the service approval. My name was then called, and I was brought into the ex-ray room, several ex-rays were taken, then I was escorted to a room in which Cherakee, I thought was the hygienist, checked my gums and teeth then input something into the computer. Cherakee said nothing about my gums or teeth, nor what she recorded onto the computer. She told me the Dentist would be coming in shortly. About 15 minutes later, Dr. Loveland came in and checked my teeth, took about 5 minutes (I'm assuming he looked at the ex-rays as well) and said they looked good and left the room. I assumed the hygienist would be coming back in to clean my teeth like they have done every six months. Well, I was wrong, the receptionist, I did not catch her name, came in with a couple of sheets of paper and said the cleaning I needed was a deep cleaning and would cost $446. She then said I know this is high, but I probably don't need the BAC Decon which is $270 ($135 upper and lower), so the cost would be $176 for the scaling and Root Planing ($88 upper and lower teeth). I have been in this office for several years, for a regular 6-month cleaning and I have always been told that I take good care of my teeth. Shouldn't there have been communication to me from Cherakee and Dr. Loveland, that they felt I needed a deep cleaning and explained the reasons? When I told the receptionist that I just wanted the regular cleaning (which my insurance covers), she said they can't do this because I would be able to file a malpractice suit?? Which does not make sense to me. To me this is a scam, I am a patient who doesn't require a lot of dental work so I think this would enable them to get something from my visit. Communication throughout this whole ordeal was terrible and very concerning. I am not too sure what is happening with this dental facility, but this will be the last time I visit, and I will share my experience with others. By the way, on the same day of my visit, speaking of poor communication, I received an e-mail at 2:12PM reminding me of my 1:15PM appointment with Cherakee the hygienist the same day? I also received a visit summary at 4:59pm stating that I saw Dr. Loveland, DMD on Wednesday, November 13h, 2024 the following issue was addressed: Encounter for dental examination and cleaning without abnormal findings. No mention of a deep cleaning recommendation. read more

A competent dental office staff is paramount to a functioning office. Just not the case with this office. Look elsewhere for service. Real big on using social media to verify appointments, check in early, endlesss reminders, etc..but they will cancel you off without getting in touch with you and nobody seems to care, except the patient of course. The dental exams I've had and dental cleanings were great. Unfortunately the appointments is my biggest thing. They have cancelled on me multiple times now (four as of now) without calling to reschedule. They don't inform you or anything. I called to get a confirmation but they say oh well we can't do that day and schedule you a month out. Very unprofessional and very upsetting. I went in for an emergency appointment when i cracked my tooth. The dentist said it was going to be a standard extraction. When he attempted to extract the tooth he broke the tooth leaving the root and said I would have to see the oral surgeon. The first appointment available was six days later. They sent me off with antibiotics and pain meds to wait. Oral surgery went fine and my follow up was scheduled for a week later. In the meantime I developed an abscess and my whole face swelled up. The clerk said they would schedule my follow up as an emergency also. The morning of my scheduled appointment the office called and said the needed to reschedule my appointment for the following day and no reason was given. Then when I got home that afternoon another clerk called me to reschedule my appointment. I explained that I had already spoken to the office earlier in the day and my appointment had already been rescheduled. She said they needed to actually reschedule my new appointment because they were going to close the office early again. I explained to her that I was in extreme pain due to the abscess and that my mouth was bleeding. She said there was nothing she could do and that the office would be closed until the following Monday six days later. I expressed my displeasure and asked to please have someone from the office call me that there was no way I could go another week without being seen. It has been a full week and I have not heard one word from anyone in the office at all. I would absolutely NOT recommend this office for any service. read more

In the past my dental experiences have left me feeling shame and guilt. I know my teeth aren't the healthiest and i don't go in for routine cleanings but I do my best and I feel like my dental team saw that and provided me with quality dental care making it easier to want to come back for routine care. I felt comfortable the whole time. I was surprised that I would actually be having my procedure done since this was my first appointment this was nice to not to have to come back for multiple appointments. I had a crack in my bridge which resulted in my bridge having to be replaced. I am happy they were able to give me a quality temp and I can't wait for my new bridge to come in and see my new smile. read more

I have been coming here for a few years and have always had a pleasant time, as far as dentistry goes. Today I had to have an emergency molar extraction due to infection. It took almost 2 hours and both Dr. Ross and the hygienist (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name!) we're amazing and so kind and funny. All over their website it talks about how they have "emergency care available" "for a dental emergency call" "we have emergency dentists available seven days a week to help if you experience a dental emergency" this is on their website, it says nothing about having to be a patient in the last year!! So I sat on hold for 15 minutes with a tooth that is killing me, when I could've been calling someone else. Short: This is the only dental office I felt good about before and after. Clean, fast, and will work with you on payments. The biggest reason for 5 stars is the service. All of the employees are amazing. Long: I have gone in twice so far and they are fast as well as VERY polite. The front desk employees must be paid VERY well because I have never seen them so much as look frustrated. If they are not paid well then they should be! Front office mismanaged my dental insurance. Further, the hygienist ended up performing an extra procedure without explaining this procedure is not covered in my plan. No written information was given to me regarding *any* services. The front office informed me of my updated costs *while* I was undergoing cleaning! Ridiculous. In short, this practice mishandled my dental insurance plan, failed to give me adequate information on my charges and performed unnecessary work that was not covered (a laser gum treatment and trying to sell me a $30 bottle of mouthwash without explaining the cost). The front office staff and dentists I saw were friendly and professional, the hygienist I saw was not that great, before her I had never had a painful cleaning, and I hope to never have that painful of a cleaning again. Before I went in the last time, I was told that they would have a contract with my insurance and if the contract wasn't signed, they would let me know, I ended up paying for an extraction that my insurance would have covered and then got a surprise bill for a cleaning that wasn't covered. They are most unhelpful and dont know anything about the local office. They scheduled me for the wrong procedure once. My experience with this dental practice has degraded over the last three years to the point where I no longer go there at all. I like the hygienist very much, as she causes me virtually no pain, but that's the only positive thing I have to say about this practice. These are the things I really dislike: - No respect for my time at all. My husband had an appointment so I went in with him. I was told to wait outside. I couldn't sit in the waiting area even though I had a mask. It was 100 degrees outside. They told me that they had to follow California guidelines because they were a California company. Then the dentist wouldn't give my husband a cleaning because he recommended a deep cleaning for my husband. I quite honestly have nothing but good things to say about this business. I contacted them as a new patient first thing in the morning on NYE for an emergency appointment and was with a dentist literally 15 minutes later. They discovered the cause of my pain and I was able to get a root canal and crown - THE SAME DAY. Keep in mind this was the last day of the year, it was a holiday, they were closing early and were short staffed - but they got it done. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating, and they paid close attention to my care at 10 weeks pregnant. Dr. Smith even researched what type of medication I could have while being pregnant and he explained the risks of each, if any, and such things. I felt comfortable during the entire visit and am so thankful for this location and team! I am 100% returning for routine visits and everything else! read more

I came in for a cleaning and a filling. They did x-rays etc, other tests, then tried to up scale me to a more expensive cleaning procedure. They were doing a pretty hard sell. I said OK. The did the filling but wanted me to come back for the cleaning procedure. I had hoped to get it all done that day. So a time was set. In the mean time I decided just to get the normal cleaning with a $20 co-pay. They refused to do it, saying they would be liable for something or other if they did that and didn't do the more expensive procedure. Yeah sure. Had a horrible toothache and couldn't get in for 3 weeks, after trying to sell me on getting my whole mouth done. I sent them e-mails asking if my appointment was just going to be a consultation or if I was getting my tooth pulled - which I knew had to be done from previous dental visit elsewhere. I asked about the fees - didn't get an answer. After 3 attempts at communication via e-mail, with having them all ignored, I cancelled my appointment and that was ignored as well. Over 5k wasted. It is not necessarily that they do not have good Doctors. You will just never be able to get one on schedule. Used them for over 3 years and have had to make the tough choice or finding another ortho to finish my braces. I just visited this dentist office today; and I was a little worried because I had to bring in my twin 3 yo daughters since I had no one to watch them while I went to the appointment. They are a hand full let me tell you!! The staff and Dr. Boehme were SO patient and understanding; and they didn't seem to be irritated or put off by my kids being there. In fact, the front office staff keep them very well occupied while I was in the back. Dr. Boehme was very nice and explained things to me very clearly.
