Update: Dr. Leonakis is a scammer, full of lie from his mouth. The CT scan is not a preferred service for basic care. Insurance company rejected the claim because the CT scan was took not conjunction with further implant. Insurance will happy to answer all of your questions, and you don't have to be a dental professional to call insurance to inquire your questions.According to other dental professionals, CT scan is for implant only( CT scan is rarely requested for wisdom teeth extraction, but it happens on some difficult cases ) My oral health not as bad as Dr.Leonakis's imagination. After Dr. Leonakis's office visit, I went to other two dentists, none of them required CT scan for diagnosis to me. Dr. Leonakis sounds like his office is more advanced because he has the CT scan machine. He is a liar, my orthodontist and other general dentists have it too, they just don't abuse of power to request CT scan on unnecessary situation. What is an unethical practice of a dental practitioner ?The practitioner recommends treatment that the patient REALLY does not need , nor could it be justified = 'overtreatment'. Since the hygienist told me that I have deep pockets and bone loss on my molar and premolar. It is weird, my bone and pockets only have issues in Dr. Leonakis DDS. The hygienist only wants to convince me to pay additional money for deep cleaning. In the reality, other dentists' review,( peer review) My pockets are remains in 1-3mm( health range) and I have strong bone to hold my teeth. And dishonest diagnoses happened to their other patients too, there is a Facebook group" Carson community", Dr. Leonakis's reputation is notoriously bad, no one recommends him at all. Dr. Leonakis was too aggressive for money. The reason for the hygienist skip my polish is because she is lazy, and try to work less. Bleeding gum won't be a established excuse to skip work. My previous and my new hygienist and dentist never skip it and told coronal polish will demand brace. If you were a well educated and experienced dental professional, it is very basic to hold instruments and ultra sonic steadily, and instruments and ultra sonic are not toys, you need to put proper focus and attentions on it to avoid causing further problems. Coronal polish will damage brace is a lies. Braces are only on Buccal - The cheek-side of the tooth, coronal polish still could happen on Lingual - The part of the tooth that is faced to the tongue side. If the hygienist not lazy, she will have already preformed it on lingual surface that nothing related to my brace. Polish won't damage brace, instruments, sonics are not likely to separate braces and damage, delay ortho treatment. I have my brace on me for more than two years, and I had my cleaning done every 3-4 month. If coronal polish will damage things and it is a established excuse to skip work, then how come other dental office never caused damage on me? It is advisable that disputes be brought to the Peer Review Committee as soon as the patient or the dentist recognizes that there is a problem. If you are interested in initiating a peer review, please contact the Southern Nevada Dental Society at (702) 901-1495. I won't delete my comments here, even Dr.Leonakis want to refund me, I won't accept it.

Is a zero star rating a thing? Because if so, this should be it…read more My daughter has TMJ. After having TMJ surgery and her wisdom teeth removed in 2018, the next step in her journey is to have braces. After a consultation in early 2021, we decided to move forward with Courtesy Dental and utilized their payment plan. All seemed to go well until my daughter moved for college. We were told she would have access to Courtesy Dental in southern Nevada for continuing adjustments and such. We were thrilled to have a state-wide service to help her condiditon. Shortly after she moved to southern Nevada, the payment plan stopped. We inquired to find out that Courtesy Dental in Carson City no longer does orthodontics. They recommended her to get setup with a Courtesy Dental in Las Vegas (which were at their patient max). No luck! So now what do we do? We called Courtesy Dental over and over to find that the location in Carson had been sold to a dentist that did not perform orthodontics. But that's okay, right, because Courtesy Dental has other location? No again. After calling the Sparks location, we were told that we would have to pay $3100 to continue services. Why? Because that was the remaining on the account. Now I've been in the world of finance for 20+ years. I pay my bills. Courtesy Dental stopped taking the payment. I didn't stop paying the bill. In fact, I called to have them continue to take payments to find that my daughter is no longer a patient. Now the issue becomes how to we get her braces removed so we can find another solution? Well... COURTESY DENTAL WILL NOT REMOVE THEM. Nor will any other orthodontist. After this review, I am writing to the Dental Board of Examiners in Nevada. This is the WORST service. I would have payed to have this completed, as agreed to. But to drop my daughter as a patient without communication and no alternative solution? This is garbage. Do not use Courtesy Dental - EVER!

He also has updated equipment and can show precisely why a treatment plan is recommended. Unfortunately it seems my last dentist in rural California was not the best and altho I religiously visit the dentist every six months, it turns out I have 3 teeth that are cracked. It's unlikely this just occurred in the past few months and at first I was skeptical but Dr Funke was able to show me photographic proof of what he was finding. I've had one crown placed so far and Dr Funke did an excellent job!!! I very definitely recommend his practice.

Gold was suggested so I had temporary crowns placed and was in pain for the entire three weeks. I couldn't eat. I lost weight, which was great, but not in an ideal way. I called the office one week into the pain and was told not to worry it is normal. Then I went in for the permanent gold crowns to be placed and explained I was in pain. The dentist said he wish he knew that in the weeks prior, I told him I had called about it and he said that he was disappointed in the receptionist or assistant whom had taken my call. His assistant placed the temporary crowns and the gold crowns with the temporary cement. She has a tremor which may be fine for assisting the dentist but I wasn't comfortable that someone with hand tremors was doing the more intricate work of placing the crowns. I'd thought the dentist would do that or an assistant who did not have a tremor. After rolling her eyes about my interest in having Novocaine for the procedures, she stated that she gets all of her dental work without any numbing medication. To each her own I suppose but I prefer to be numb for dental drilling. She placed the crowns with a temporary cement and the dentist said my teeth just need to calm down and that his office would call me in two weeks to assess. They did not call. I left three messages and was still in pain. I was wondering what to do next. This ordeal started in May and now it's August. I call again and the message in their voicemail said they were out of the office on vacation for the month of August. I made appointments with another dentist and a periodontist. Both of whom said it was unusual to have pain that long. I went to Dr. Funke just to establish care and was not in any pain prior to going ahead with the crowns. They ran an estimate on what my insurance would cover and said it would be 40% for each drilling and crown placement and a smaller portion for each gold crown themselves. They were wrong. My insurance covered 10% of one crown drilling and nothing else. Turns out my insurance pays their portion for only one crown a year. I know now to look into my insurance and not trust their estimate. Had I known I would have had one done a year. My total bill for all of this out of pocket added up to $6,300. Then an additional $1,200 I've paid to my new dentist to permanently place the crowns after they assessed me with x rays, and exams. Perhaps I just had bad luck with Dr. Funke. I hope others have better experiences.
