Saying they took me back 15 minutes after I got there which is incorrect I was never taken to the back after 30 minutes of sitting I cancelled my appointment. Why does a dentist require new patients to sign a "Non-disparagement Agreement"? On my first, only, and last visit, among the paperwork was a Non-disparagement Agreement. It stated that all disagreements would be handled in the office and that I agreed not to involve third parties. It was written very broadly and could easily encompass public reviews on forums like this one. I asked if the agreement covered public reviews. The staff said no. So I amended the agreement with the words "excluding public reviews." The doctor refused to see me. I've seen three reviews of his office that were quite negative. What is he afraid of? read more

I made an appointment, from a recommendation from a friend. When I went to the office it took about 45 minutes before they even ask from my insurance. I gave them two insurance cards. I had full coverage from two insurance companies. The office manager tells me the my primary won't cover me, and that my secondary won't cover me because I have a primary. So I call them and they tell me yes we'll cover you even though you only have two weeks coverage. I take the phone to the manager and she is very reluctant to talk to them but she did at my insistence then she said that we needed to do a pre authorization which would take two weeks. Then I ask why not take my second insurance & she said to me , we tried but they refused because you have primary coverage. I realized I was getting no where with the office main Karen so not wanting to become an angry frustrated Ken and left. Believe me I was pissed & frustrated! After I got home I called my Medicare/Aetna insurance and got through to the dental carrier. They informed me that the dentist never even called them. That they would have in fact covered me 100 percent. I called the dentist office & the Karen in charged would not even talk to me! So I tell the receptionist cancel my appointment and you all lied to me and never made any real effort to give me dental care. So folks I don't recommend this dental office. They obviously over booked and they found excuses to dismiss me like I don't matter. The office is composed of a bunch of dysfunctional Karen's who think it is funny to lie and play with your head. My time is valuable! I took off two hours of work to keep that appointment. Two hours I don't get back. So we all need to understand that these arrogant dental establishments treat us as objects not humans. I will not allow it! Update: Dr. Leonakis is a scammer, full of lie from his mouth. The CT scan is not a preferred service for basic care. Insurance company rejected the claim because the CT scan was took not conjunction with further implant. Insurance will happy to answer all of your questions, and you don't have to be a dental professional to call insurance to inquire your questions.According to other dental professionals, CT scan is for implant only( CT scan is rarely requested for wisdom teeth extraction, but it happens on some difficult cases ) My oral health not as bad as Dr.Leonakis's imagination. After Dr. Leonakis's office visit, I went to other two dentists, none of them required CT scan for diagnosis to me. Dr. Leonakis sounds like his office is more advanced because he has the CT scan machine. He is a liar, my orthodontist and other general dentists have it too, they just don't abuse of power to request CT scan on unnecessary situation. What is an unethical practice of a dental practitioner ?The practitioner recommends treatment that the patient REALLY does not need , nor could it be justified = 'overtreatment'. Since the hygienist told me that I have deep pockets and bone loss on my molar and premolar. It is weird, my bone and pockets only have issues in Dr. Leonakis DDS. The hygienist only wants to convince me to pay additional money for deep cleaning. In the reality, other dentists' review,( peer review) My pockets are remains in 1-3mm( health range) and I have strong bone to hold my teeth. And dishonest diagnoses happened to their other patients too, there is a Facebook group" Carson community", Dr. Leonakis's reputation is notoriously bad, no one recommends him at all. Dr. Leonakis was too aggressive for money.The reason for the hygienist skip my polish is because she is lazy, and try to work less. Bleeding gum won't be a established excuse to skip work. My previous and my new hygienist and dentist never skip it and told coronal polish will demand brace. If you were a well educated and experienced dental professional, it is very basic to hold instruments and ultra sonic steadily, and instruments and ultra sonic are not toys, you need to put proper focus and attentions on it to avoid causing further problems. Coronal polish will damage brace is a lies. Braces are only on Buccal - The cheek-side of the tooth, coronal polish still could happen on Lingual - The part of the tooth that is faced to the tongue side. If the hygienist not lazy, she will have already preformed it on lingual surface that nothing related to my brace. Polish won't damage brace, instruments,sonics are not likely to separate braces and damage,delay ortho treatment. I have my brace on me for more than two years, and I had my cleaning done every 3-4 month. If coronal polish will damage things and it is a established excuse to skip work, then how come other dental office never caused damage on me? It is advisable that disputes be brought to the Peer Review Committee as soon as the patient or the dentist recognizes that there is a problem. This dentistry was a big disappointment. I was charged for a cleaning that my self funded dental insurance wouldn't pay. I had told the office staff to please check to see if my insurance will cover a procedure BEFORE ITS DONE. This makes sense, right? Anyhow, the dentist seems a little goofy, possibly incompetent. But I can't say, I didn't make another appointment. Oh, and their X-ray is very, very old school, but his rates are definitely 2020. read more

*Rude, with no compassion or empathy for patient. Was scheduled for oral (wisdom tooth extraction). Larry Leonakis, DDS made me wait almost 2 hours after my scheduled appointment. Mind you, I even came an hour earlier. In any case after almost 2 hours of waiting for him to finish up with the ton of other patients he was doing, he hurriedly came to my area and didn't even introduce himself, much less apologized for the long wait time. He just looked at the xrays and mumbled something. I then asked if he were pulling all 4 of my wisdom teeth. (When I asked the other staff the said yes , sure if I wanted that.) But This Larry Leonakis, DDS guy says "Oh I don't know yet!" I'm puzzled as a glance over the small tray with the topical gel , needle and anesthesia injection vials laid out ready for my procedure. Red flag #1 Then this guy starts to very roughly & hurriedly pull on the sides of my mouth and really jams the mirror tool right down the side of my cheeck to where it its the bony part. OUCH! Not once but TWICE before I ask him to be a bit less rough and more like the original dentist there. (She is way more profesional and gentle than this guy.) This guy had several other patients he was doing work on, so I guess since he was running hours behind he was irritable and rushed & didn't care about patient quality care. Just wanted to hurry up and rush through it , no matter how painful and rough things were going to be. So he gets an attitude and then claims I need a specialist from USC all of a sudden, to give himself a way out of having to do the procedure. IN reality, He didn't want to treat me in the first place that's why he wasnt sure if he was going to do anything today and made me wait almost 2 hours, old useless and incompetent dentist he is. I tell the staff to *never* schedule this man for *any* of my dental visits ever again, and that I will be sticking with the first one I had. This guy has no empathy or compassion for people, at least in my experience. So he wasted several hours of my time only to display unethical and unprofessional behavior. In any case I'm glad I will NOT be seeing him for any further procedures as I my gut feeling told me that he may be quite insensitive to other people's pain (sadist?) and has a big ego to boot. A great dentist with some additional benefits. Dr. Larry is friendly as well as skilled. Also, unlike most general dentistry practices, Dr. Larry does IV Sedation so for people like me who are really uptight about dental work it is absolutely painless and stress free. Dr. Larry is good at what he does, BUT Cheryl at the front desk is NOT. She gave me a list of possible fixes for a sore tooth and this treatment plan showed the costs, my cost and what my insurance would pay. I looked that over and chose the root canal and crown which was way more expensive than just pulling the offending tooth. When the bills started coming in I discovered my costs were four times higher than Cheryl had said they would be. How could this happen? Cheryl does not call your insurance to get her figures, she uses a chart online which since she does this for a living, she KNOWS that it isn't accurate but it does make the clients cost look much better. So in the end, I was deceived and I paid way more than Cheryl said I would have to and then when I thought we were finished I get another bill for $400 which just sent me over the top. She writes a note on the bill saying, "You're insurance didn't pay what I told you they would so now YOU owe us more, and more, and more. This is unethical and Cheryl needs to call the insurance company like every other doctors office on the planet does so the patient won't be lured in by false payment amounts. I've never been so unhappy with a doctors billing before in my life. In fact I've never been unhappy at all with any office except this one. This is a pure scam on Cheryl's part.
