A fantastic resource for homeowners, crafty people...anyone really. Why buy a tool if you only need it once? Borrow it here. From sewing machines and hammers to pneumatic drills and pitch forks...there are so many possibilities. For $80/year ($100 for a couple), it's a deal. For less than the cost of one power tool, you get access to hundreds of tools. As soon as we learned of it, my husband and I became members. Signed up for a class and showed up early as instructed. Closed sign on the door and another that said they would be closed over the holidays. Knocked and no answer. Waited a few minutes then left. When I emailed them was told the class did take place and in spite of the closed sign, locked door and nobody there I should have known that referred to the store part being closed. We had a great first-time experience borrowing tools from this fine establishment. They had exactly what we needed and the check in/out process was super easy. It helps a ton not having to purchase a tool every time you need them and saves space as well. Staff is friendly and a huge plus, they offer Starbucks coffee for customers. Remember when our parents taught us how to share? Turns out it's an awesome idea. Brilliant, really. The folks at Denver Tool Library have this whole sharing thing down. Denver Tool Library is exactly what it says it is--a library for tools. I heard about DTL shortly after moving to Denver, but never really had a use for it until moving into a house fairly recently. We had a weekend dedicated to a few home improvement projects--painting, fixing a skylight, etc--so I decided to give this place a try. DTL is tucked away in a quiet spot in the Santa Fe arts district. We rolled up on a Saturday morning and met the owners, who were super friendly and gave us a lay of the land. This place is full of any tool you could ever want--saws, lawn mowers, gardening supplies, a sewing machine--the list goes on. We paid $100 for a one-year household membership, which gives us access to all of the tools for a full year. We borrowed a ladder, drop cloth, paint brushes and trays, and a dremel, all of which would have easily cost $100 to rent or buy. The best part? We don't have to store it!! Denver Tool Library is just another rad way the Denver community comes together to help each other out. Whether you're a renter with no storage space, just bought a fixer upper, or really love DIY, DTL is an awesome resource for getting your home improvement projects done. Great alternative to: a) Renting tools from a giant corporation with shitty corporate politics (Home Depot) Or, b) Buying new crap all the time aka consumerism. These guys are friendly and chill and just recently were very reasonable when the motor gave out on the tool I was renting. Highly recommend!! read more

Legitimately the best resource in Denver for anyone who likes making things,owns a house, or just needs tools sometimes! I can't say enough great things about the people there... but I'll try- They're friendly, helpful and always excited about whatever project you happen to be working on. This place has a great atmosphere that they are constantly improving on because they care, and happen to have a few tools around... The selection of tools you get access to, all for one annual fee is ridiculously awesome. I know I've spent more on a renting a single tool from Home Depot and you don't have to be stressful and rushed. You get the tools for long enough to actually do something! All in all, I would recommend this to everyone I know... and I have! This is the place to get a membership if you have ever had to borrow tools from your dad, or neighbor, or god forbid... rent one! They usually aren't the latest, but with a tool you just need ones that work. Also, the staff has been incredibly helpful and responsive.
