The first Saturday was 1.5 hours riding around FedEx Field in an empty lot just to get comfortable behind the wheel. Thirty minutes were spent prior with overview/inspection of the vehicle, mirrors, general road rules, etc. Second Saturday. On the road. Two hours of mostly secondary roads throughout PG County. Third Saturday. More road work + Parking. Mission accomplished! Money well spent.

Before my lessons with Mr. Ish, the only driving experience I had as a 36 year old was some parking lot practice, and a one hour lesson with a different school (which I didn't think was very helpful so I didn't continue). I took 5 lessons of 2 hours each (10 hours total) with him and found him to be an incredibly patient and supportive instructor. I had a lot of anxiety going into the whole process, and his calm presence always put me at ease and made me more confident. When I would make a mistake like making too wide of a turn into a streeet, he would point it out but also ask me why I did it that way. It felt like he really wanted to get to the root of the issue to help fix it. In the case of turning too wide, we realized that I was misjudging the distance of my car from the parked cars on the street. This thoughtful approach really helped diagnose and correct issues as they came up and it was so satisfying to visibly see myself improve. His approach to teaching parallel parking was super clear, and I was able to confidently parallel park during the test, and have now also done it in relatively tight spots on DC streets! He also recommended doing a last lesson right before the test in the Deanwood neighborhood (where the DMV test takes place). This was great advice, and Mr. Teddy accommodated me for a pre-test lesson on short notice. I used the school's car for the test, which was helpful since I was familiar with it. The day of the test there was a really long wait at the DMV and Mr. Teddy waited with me patiently and was also really supportive. All the communication and reminders from the school about lesson times, locations were timely and clear, Mr. Ish was always on time for picking me up, and it was just a seamless experience end to end.

He pushed me past my fears. Compassionately convinced me to hit the open road when I wanted to stay in the park. He was persistent but so supportive at the same time. And I definitely needed that. There was a few lapses in communication but not too bad. I would definitely recommend this driving school to everyonee! Its affordable and you learn what you need to learn. I think I paid for six lessons. I passed my road test on the first try. Mind you, I'm 27. So a very late bloomer, but I am so happy!! Bought a car a few months after I passed my test so I am eternally grateful to them. Our meeting points were always convenient...I always felt comfortable (even though I was super nervous). Despite riding far to the right, he sped past aggressively -- with a student in the car -- and nearly hit a cyclist. He then yelled to "get out of the road," which is ironic since cyclists are legally allowed to use the lane. It's alarming that someone who teaches new and first time drivers would model such reckless and disrespectful behavior toward cyclists. Definitely not the example you want for a driving instructor.

I registered for morning classes and was blessed with two amazing teachers that made the classes interactive and fun. Leslie was very entertaining and Genesis was super informative and relatable. They went beyond to help all of us and were very lenient when it came to paying for the classes. Furthermore, I really want to recommend this driving school to anyone in the area because not only are they informative but you also get to be taught by a great staff that does care about you. (They care enough to even give us Rookie Manual's for free if we lost ours). So just wanted to clear the air and tell you that it's a great place to attend.

Do not trust this business; they tried to scam me, and I had to go through UHaul to get my money…read moreback. I went to Tag and Title Boutique to drop off my U-Haul reservation. I left the car clean and thought everything was fine. The next day I was charged an $100 cleaning fee. I called because I thought it was a mistake, but I was told I dumped trash behind the business, and people had seen me and recorded me. That was impossible since I did not dump any trash. My U-Haul was to bring large furniture to my new apartment there were never even any trash bags in the truck. I asked to review the footage and was told it would be sent to me. It's been four days, and I have not received any footage, just photos of trash bags nowhere near where I left my truck. I asked the woman on the phone to review the footage, as I was certain I hadn't dumped any trash, but she refused. I had to go through UHaul to get my money back, and I never received any apology or acknowledgment that I was accused of something I did not do and then charged.
