I was terrifieddddd to drive when I started. I drove with Mr. Young on my first lesson and he was just like the intro. But all of my other lessons were with Mr. Greg and he is what I needed. He pushed me past my fears. Compassionately convinced me to hit the open road when I wanted to stay in the park. He was persistent but so supportive at the same time. And I definitely needed that. There was a few lapses in communication but not too bad. I would definitely recommend this driving school to everyonee! Its affordable and you learn what you need to learn. I think I paid for six lessons. I passed my road test on the first try. Mind you, I'm 27. So a very late bloomer, but I am so happy!! Bought a car a few months after I passed my test so I am eternally grateful to them. Our meeting points were always convenient...I always felt comfortable (even though I was super nervous). I am so happy. As we all know, driving changes your life. So they blessed me with the tools to help me change my life. Had a very unsafe encounter with Mr. Young of Youngs Driving School at Anacostia Park, Washington DC. Despite riding far to the right, he sped past aggressively -- with a student in the car -- and nearly hit a cyclist. He then yelled to "get out of the road," which is ironic since cyclists are legally allowed to use the lane. It's alarming that someone who teaches new and first time drivers would model such reckless and disrespectful behavior toward cyclists. Definitely not the example you want for a driving instructor. read more

I had a great experience with Mr. Young's driving school, and with Mr. Cheeks who gave me most of the lessons. I knew how to drive but hadn't driven in 10+ years with my main experience being out of the US, and left hand driving. Mr. Cheeks got me comfortable parallel parking and driving on the road. Plus, the conversations with him were most excellent. It felt like catching up with an older uncle who had many life stories to share. Plus, he never hurried me when we were at time and was always patient with the many mistakes that I made. I did have scheduling issues with Mr. Young, but my schedule was flexible enough to permit all the changes. I have experienced the worst experience with the owner Mr.young, he is unreliable, disrespectful, and has lack of communication. I paid for driving lessons in a package, so I received 5 lessons for $200 with a $50 deposit put down. I only received 2 lessons that was reliable and when it came down to scheduling my next lesson I would get a date and time, but Mr.young would reschedule me and take me off the roster for someone else. After so many times of this happening I requested a refund and Mr. young gave so many excuses after even me telling him I was willing to continue, but I would like con accommodation of an extra lesson or so. Mr. Young didn't want to own up to his wrong doings, so I wanted a refund that was also his choice of giving me. After keep texting back and forth with Mr. young he started To get nasty and call me and my dad messy after telling him we will take him to court! read more

I booked 6 sessions and paid up front. My experience was good in the beginning. I was terrified to drive at first but I did overcome that with my first few sessions. However, my instructor Mr. Young canceled our sessions many times, which caused an inconvenience for me. It took me almost 2 months to complete 5, 1 hour long sessions with him. My 5th session that I had I was not even behind the wheel for a whole hour only about 20 mins. I felt ripped off. Lastly, I never completed my 6th session and do not plan to. The day of my 6th session he called cancelling again letting me know that he had to get his car inspected and will give me a call to schedule something I gave him 2 weeks and did not hear anything so I reached out asking for a refund for my last session and he responded saying they do not do refunds. I would not recommend this agency. Now I have to spend more money to take additional sessions with another agency because I am still not prepared to take my road test. read more

Just finished my last class and I can't thank Mr Young and his colleagues Mr Greg and Mr Michael enough... they gave me the confidence I needed to get on DC roads. You get great advice and tips on how to approach parking, highways... I started the first two classes in the car they provided, then the rest with my car, so that I could get the hang of it. I would definitely recommend Mr. Young's driving school, especially to start learning as a beginner. Mr. Young takes beginner students to a really quiet spot; it's a great way to learn in a very stress free way! I passed my road test after having taken classes for just a week (about 10 hours total). Mr. Greg, who was my primary instructor is very nice and extremely invested in his students. I really enjoyed having him as my driving instructor! I would only recommend taking a final class with an instructor who also acts as a third party road test examiner (I took one such class on my test day with an Ethio Star driving instructor, which was greatly helpful) in order to get the minute details/mistakes that an examiner would remove points for (Mr. Greg had pointed out most of them but not all of them). read more

I drove with Mr. Young and Mr Greg both. Mr Young is stern but honest. If you're looking for someone to baby you, he is not for you. He teaches you the proper techniques and did not harshly criticize for mistakes I made. Mr Greg is a bit softer and also very knowledgeable. The school has top notch driving instructors. Each instructor will teach you the basics mechanics of driving on your first or second lessons in a safe environment to give you confidence, but after that they just let you drive on the open road to get a feel for it. Each instructor drives a different car which allows you to hone in on your skills to make you a better driver. I had some driving experience coming into my lessons but I had never really been on the live road and after my third lesson had no fear of driving on the open road. The prices for lessons are a really good price and they will work with anyones schedule. They are always on time for lessons and if they are running late or need to reschedule they are great with communication. I easily was able to adapt to his teaching methods as he changes them to suit you as the driver. I have never written a review but the experience that I have had with Young's Driving School needed to be sad because of the affordable price. The reviews belong are from family members and friends. They don't even have an office and unreliable. This company takes you around where you are going to take your driving test and know where else. It seems more to me like he needs to be a Giant or Safeway holler transpiration. He doesn't show up on time no kind-of schedule what so ever. What I paid for I should have been on a once a week schedule. I am still waiting to complete my lesson. He is not willing to give me a refund. If you don't call and let me know what is going on and when I call you give me all kinds of excuses why you couldn't show up for three weeks this is unacceptable for a so call business. So write the truth and let other know they should if they are paying their money. read more
