It's a shame that I didn't get…read moreto spend more time in Cadiz; it was by far one of my favorite cities in Andalucia because the tourism is less commercialized and the city is just less congested overall. Never once did I feel like I was getting ripped off for dinner or had to wait in a long line at the entrance of the museum. Spa Senator, on the other hand, is a different story. I paid approximately 95 euro a night for a single occupancy room; by European standards, Spa Senator is probably a 2 or 3 star hotel (but is advertised on the website as something much fancier - a 4 star hotel). The lobby has a kitschy Andalucian vibe, with faux-arches, a fountain, and azulejos tiling. The furniture and upholstery in my room felt old, but I managed to get a good night's sleep. The room was spacious for European standards and had an (overpriced) minibar and a TV. At least the fan and ventilation system worked - Cadiz in July can be best described as oppressively hot. All of the employees that I interacted with were hospitable and friendly. Hotel Spa Senator's location, however, was perfect for my short visit and the primary reason why I booked this particular hotel. The hotel is about 5-7 minutes away from the Renfe station, which made my arrival and departure hassle-free. Most of the sightseeing (the cathedral, the museum - which I would highly recommend!, and the various oratories) is about a 10 minute walk away. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area, so there was no need to partake in the hotel's overpriced breakfast and because Marypaz was having a sale, I may have bought a pair of shoes (oops). Hotel Spa Senator was just right for what I needed - a bed to sleep in and a convenient location for a quick visit.

The hotel was okay…read more But beware, if you are contemplating using the Internet for any reason (including email) while staying here, and want to have access to Wi-Fi, you will get absolutely horrible service. You will be given, if working, free access, such as it is, to Wi-Fi for 48 hours. It works so poorly that you would think you were using the Internet from the old AOL dial up days of 20 years ago. You might was well forget it. You will have access to Wi-Fi, but if you try to open a page, send an email, download something from the web, it might take five minutes or more. It's a total rip off and is inexcusable -- the hotel is obviously trying to save money on the Internet access it provides to guests. This one aspect of the hotel's so called amenities almost ruined my trip. I had brought my laptop with me on my trip to Spain and was counting on getting work done during the nighttime hours while in my hotel room.

The results and the service were truly perfecto! I speak very little Spanish (hola, cerveza, queso) so I stopped by in person to make an appointment for the following day. The professionals at Pedro Gómez speak exclusively Spanish, and through some magical combination of Pinterest photos and screenshots of Google Translate they were able to piece together a haircut masterpiece that was exactly what I wanted. Plus a shampoo, cut, and blowout cost just €29, which is a downright bargain compared to the highway robbery taking place in salons on the East Coast of the United States. Highly recommend for locals, travelers, and those who may want to fly to Sevilla for the day just to get their hair done!

She gave us Angela's phone number which we called the next morning, and we were lucky to reserve a spot together the same day at about 4pm which was perfect timing during what is normally a siesta. We each wanted a cut and color, and showed Angela photos of the kind of color we were looking for. She speaks English very well which helped alleviate our nerves considering we don't speak Spanish well, and she had very good ideas as to how she would go about attaining the cut and color we were describing. The majority of the products used were organic which was wonderful, and the cut and color were both beautiful! I was so happy to find cut and color experts at this salon since I rarely get a decent haircut and never use color in my hair! You also have the option of immersing yourself into a wine pool, which was very unique. The rooftop pool had a spectacular view of the cathedral and 360' of Seville. This bathhouse was coed and I much more preferred the private baths of Evora, as it was more tranquil. The staff were okay and the massage was just MEH. I would do it again even to just sip some cava while admiring the gorgeous panorama of Sevilla from the rooftop pool.

We were so looking forward but from the moment we arrived, the staff felt absolutely uninterested and disengaged (no one offered a tour or any introduction to the place), the whole place felt unclean (they allow street shoes in the dressing room (yuck), among many other issues), two of the showers didn't work, and the signage all over is just terrible. We stayed 20 minutes and couldn't wait to get out of there. I would not recommend this place. For reference, we went to a very similar place in Grenada and it was wonderful.
