St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is one of the world's most visited buildings. It's location at the very heart of Vienna insures that both residents and visitors to Vienna are always passing by this imposing religious edifice. And when you go inside, there are further ticketed options of a few specific niches in the cathedral to visit. The catacombs underneath the church are nice but the ones in Michaelerkirche (St. Michael's Church) are more interesting ... and both the north & south towers have great views looking out over Vienna but you can get fabulous vistas overlooking Vienna from several other nearby locations while enjoying a drink. So I always recommend to my visiting friends and family, go to the Domschatz (Treasury) in St. Stephen's Cathedral. It costs only five Euro and in seconds you are magically lifted away from the huge throngs of visitors. There are amazing views looking down on the impressive interior of St. Stephen's Cathedral as well as some very interesting and historic art works in the Domschatz Museum. Well, that's my tip for Vienna's busiest tourist and religious attraction! read more
