The side of the store I walked through had really cool merchandise like an old time general store, maybe. My partner passed through the other side to the "pristine" bathroom and said the merchandise was a mix of feed store and grocery store. There was a galvanized tub she wanted to buy but we had no way to get it back home. We were pleased with our scenic detour and this stumble upon.

It's more likely than you'd think! Old Tyme Liquors is fairly small but packs a remarkable variety within its walls, and no matter what your vice is, you won't be hurting for options. The craft beer coolers deserve particular attention, because they house some rarities that are downright shocking to find in this region. My favorite find was Lazy Magnolia's Southern Pecan Ale. This terrific brown ale from Kiln, MS tends to be rarer than hen's teeth in Kentuckiana, and I've only caught it on draft a couple times. To see it casually hanging out in one of Old Tyme's coolers was a real treat. Other notable names on deck here include Lil Beaver (Bloomington, IL), Voodoo Brewing Co. (Meadville, PA), Rochester Mills (Rochester, MI), Fair State Co-op (Minneapolis, MN) and of course, plenty of standout breweries from across Indiana. Seriously, this place is a slice of heaven if you're looking for craft beer from far-flung parts of the country. And for everything else, they keep the prices reasonable and the shelves stocked. Off the beaten path, down a country road off 162 and located at a private residence is some of the best cuts of meat you can get. The actual counter has several different types of cheeses, pork cuts and ready-to-cook pulled pork. Don't forget to grab a pack of jalapeno beef sticks while you're there to munch on in the car on the way home...they may not make it home actually. Not only do they have all the meat you would like but the have a great selection of rubs and sauces to help complete your grilling experience. It stocks candy from yesteryear and current hot items, plus candied popcorn, fudge and yummy drinks as well as souvenir items. The Candy Castle is owned by this amazingly warm and friendly gentleman named Kevin. He is a fixture in the castle and we have visited in all seasons, including Christmas when Kevin does chestnut roasts (over an open fire!). First... They have…read moreall the candy. I mean it. There were or s in here I literally haven't seen since I was 5 years old (as of this writing I'm 50.). So yes, all the candy. And reasonably priced for all considering how rare it all is. They are only open on weekends so plan your trips accordingly, but I highly recommend the "cold hot chocolate" as an impulse buy at the cash register. Several hundred calories be damned - that was the best chocolate drink I've ever tasted! Also, you have to buy on site. Bummer. Although the experience suggests this to be mandatory, it would've been nice to pick up / order missed items online. They used to do this but it wasn't profitable so they expanded their on-site offerings instead. The host whose name escapes me was in for me to e and passionate about this store & its mission. Worth the trip - combine it with Santa Claus, IN trip to stores and there park for a well-rounded adventure!
