FINALLY!!!!!!!! I had been searching for an artist that would be it for me. As you guys can see I had a horrible experience with a previous artist. So when I was tagged on Facebook to Jay's post I was a bit apprehensive cause that was the last artist name as well. Worst tattoo experience in my life! I had a consultation with Jay and was scheduled to have my tattoo done mid February. I was rescheduled twice - the first time I understood as it was due to an emergency, but then he had to reschedule AGAIN and both times, I got less than a 24 hour notice (was texted the Friday night before a Saturday afternoon session). When trying to reschedule again, I could not get a response after three different attempts. Chentelle is absolutely amazing. I stumbled in this shop about two weeks ago inquiring about getting a tattoo. I was helped immediately. Chentelle took photos of my arm and all that good stuff. I came back in a few days later and she had a couple of pieces drew up. I got some pieces done Sunday and I'm absolutely in love with them. Chentelle is very professional and truly talented. I'm not sure why my experience has been so different from others, but I'm not happy. I was quoted a price of several hundred dollars for a piece. I paid in full early on plus gave him a hundred dollar tip. After several sessions I can't get him to call me back to finish it and he refuses to refund any of the cost. 3rd review, 2 taken off the page. Normally I dont do the whole yelp thing but having 2 reviews taken down pisses me off. Accept the criticism, Jay left me with an unfinished tattoo (not for my lack of trying) so yeah, I have a right to be angry. Jay has good art but 0 professional skills. I wanted to get armor tattooed on my shoulder as I am a domestic abuse survivor and he was game for it. He gave me a deal which I was ecstatic about but after I paid him in full over the course of a few sessions (during which times he canceled on me 4 times and tried to cancel a 5th time), he stopped working. Like ignored me and left me to hang stopped working. My tattoo is large and unfinished, not fucking cool. According to him he was TOO DEPRESSED to work but he was still in the mood to work on other people somehow. He also basically told me to shut up and deal after he cancelled on me for a 3rd time. I get a cancellation here or there but 4 is ridiculous. This tattoo was supposed to be fun, a piece meant to celebrate that I had survived the bad situations Id been in. Shop was dirty, people we seen weren't friendly (except for the piercing dudes) and the room that they did the piercings in looked makeshift, not professional. When waiting to get pierced I looked around for the usual artists books of their work and didn't find any. If they were good I'd think they'd display their talent! Derm F/X looks like a standard shop on the outside, but the inside is kind of dingy, it reminds me of walking into a haunted house attraction on Halloween. Not to mention I've heard and seen a fair share of people getting blown off by one of the artists here, and then later their review's "mysteriously" disappear. Honestly not the worst, but I would avoid the artist Jay or just plain out look elsewhere. I called and spoke to Cody about getting an existing tattoo "spiced up". He immediately knew what I was trying to say without meeting me. I got right in, met my artist, Mark, who listened to what I was thinking, let me show him my Pinterest pictures and proceeded to roughly sketch out on my existing tattoo what he was thinking would look good. There was no pressure to sit that day; he gave me options to have him take a picture, draw something up and I could return or not. I felt comfortable right away. He explained the process what he'd do first last etc. Checked in with me during to see how I was holding up and gave me a break. Although a tattoo is somewhat of a painful process I was distracted by great conversation, tv, and good music. The rest of the staff that was there (Jay & Cody) were friendly as well. Chris, the piercer, uses cheap jewelry and claims it's expensive. Extremely overpriced and unprofessional. I highly recommend going ANYWHERE ELSE. The shop owner takes no responsibility for the business run when he's not present. Very rude. Be careful. Go to a professional that will use the correct size of jewelry and won't put a piece of crap piece of jewelry claiming to be high-end. I have 11 piercings and have previously had a lot more. This is my worst experience and my worst piercing. Had to take it out and get it done correctly. I would give zero stars, but it won't let me. read more
