If you do this 3 times in the course of your life, hike bottom to top barefoot and do the stations of the cross on the way up good things will come to you. It seemed like a scene out of a titanic movie, People everywhere, tight fog so you could only see 15 feet, people of all ages walking up a mountain barefoot and praying. When you get to the top there is a small church and the bed where St.Patrick is resting. I can't say enough about this. If you are in Ireland for any time you need to do the pilgrimage.

A really enjoyable hike with stunning panoramic views! It is a relatively tough hike so I would recommend proper hiking footwear and a stick, especially for the descent as the loose stones are very difficult to walk on! The view at the top is amazing; The Chapel at the summit, St. Patrick's leaba, and, of course, Clew Bay; according to tradition, there is an island in the bay for every day of the year. Trust me, you will feel like ditching the stick on the way up; but you will regret it on the way down.

Twin room was pretty small with a large bathroom and entry hall. We ended up storing our luggage in the hall. The soap and shampoo dispensers were really hard to use so we were left using a small bar of soap I happened to have with me. The shower did not drain well so I had to pause halfway through my shower to allow it to catch up. There is a towel warmer but we could not find the switch to turn it on. There is an electric kettle, but it's huge and difficult to fill from the absurdly small bathroom tap. I had a seaweed bath in the spa. Very enjoyable but I had asked at booking if I should bring anything with me and was told no. So I got in the jacuzzi buck naked. Fortunately I was the only one there but when my bath was ready, the spa matron informed me I should have brought swimwear for the communal portion of the facility. I think the restaurant is their strongest element. Breakfast buffet was excellent. One could assemble a full Irish or any portion of thereof. Dinner is price fixed either 2 or 3 courses. Simpler fare can be ordered in the adjacent bar. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Supreme with apple pie and ice cream for dessert. My vegan companion enjoyed the tofu appetizer and the vegan chocolate cake with lime sorbet. The bar menu is comprehensive including a sophisticated selection of wines in any price range.

But the best part of Hillwalk Yours are the people that work there. Their support is incredible. One this particular trip there was a mix up on our lodging which was not Hillwalk's fault at all. I called the emergency number and Nieve was a rockstar in helping us secure new lodging and transportation. My trip coordinator Niamh followed up the next morning even though the offices were closed. That kind of support is incredible on these kinds of trips and why I will continue to use and recommend them.

It was absolutely one of my favorite parts about our trip. Let me start from the beginning: The night before we were in Galway my friend and I contacted Moycullen Riding Centre via email (not successful, but we all know that rural internet is a pain), there is a phone number however it was already late at night. Anyways, our mistake, but we decide to drive out to the stables the next morning anyways. When we arrive at this quaint home about 15 mins outside of Galway we were greeted by Sandra's parents - Sandra's mother is such a sweet, sweet lady! She allowed us to use her cellphone to contact Sandra & Tom and squeeze a ride in. Tom to the rescue - he drops what he is doing and drives out to the stables to take my friend and I for a trail ride! Tom is a wonderful tour guide, the horses were amazing & beautiful creatures, and the terrain/trail is something you do not want to miss. We learned soooo much about Ireland! I literally could go on and on, but I will say this VISIT THE MOYCULLEN RIDING CENTRE!! It's 100% worth the drive and money!! Thank you guys sooooo much for the wonderful experience!
