This was my first time visiting this faith based thrift store. I'm not into thrifting as most stores carry a lot of junk and the clothes are dirty. Not so at DI. You walk in, and the store smells like laundry detergent. All of the clothes are washed before sale. They have name brands like Gap, Billabong, Ana to name a few. They also carry shoes, books, furniture, lamps, toys, kitchen items, etc. I bought a few tee shirts at $2.00 each. What a bargain. The man in front of me checking out, bought a bike for $7.00. Cashier was friendly too. The only negative is that if you are looking for a specific size in pants or shorts, you have to look at all the items. Everything is marked small, medium or large. Deseret is my go to for comfy jeans, name brand tops and skirts, and books,craft items, beautiful serving dishes,and more. It's alike a Disney land for me to spend an hour browsing through the rows of goodies. My family have always been "resale first" shoppers.. it's good for your community, for the economy, and it is a way to recycle and keep the landfills less full! Women, in particular, buy clothes and sometimes don't even wear them,I have gotten Chico's and Black and White Market blouses with tags still on. This place is clean as clean can be, and has a never ending selection. I also collect cookbooks and have found some nice ones here. read more

Clean and organized with a friendly staff. Great for good finds that may be new or need a little TLC. Prices are decent for the items you are getting and the fact that the store makes it easy to find anything you may be on the search for or easily see due to organization. read more

Great deals abound here but I encountered a rather rude manager who inquired about my service pet, which I was pushing in an enclosed stroller. He is a registered service dog, and I have never been questioned by anyone in any location as to his service, in any store, when he's enclosed in the stroller. She stopped me and asked if he is a service animal which I replied Yes. She then snootily asked what service he performs. Mind you, there were customers all around us and she asked the question quite loudly. I told her he was a Licensed therapy dog and she again asked what service he performs I told her I wasn't comfortable telling her, as there were about 10 people listening to our conversation. She proceeded to tell me he wasn't allowed in the store and it's her legal right to ask. I am aware that businesses are allowed to ask what service a dog performs - and I also know that stating he is a therapy dog is all the information she needed. She was rude and did her best to embarrass me. read more

I feel like I'm supporting a better cause (compared to goodwill / big corporations) and plus this is literally the cleanest thrift store or any store really I've been to. I was so excited when I learned that DI was coming to Gilbert. I am a huge fan of the DI location in Mesa. My wife and I have bought so much stuff from there when we were just starting off, and we still find treasures here. This is my new favorite thrift store. The items are mostly in good shape. Per thrift store norms, just check things for holes, excessive wear, etc. unlike Goodwill, the markup on 'premium' brands is marginal. They have the store laid out nicely and the shelves are always busting with goods. We've found great clothes for the family and there's tons of stuff for the house, etc. Great prices and the staff are super friendly. read more

Best clean, organized thrift store. Jeans are $6, not $10+ like at other thrift stores. Great kitchen and housewares. Clothes are in good to excellent condition. Employees are polite and helpful. Remember they are closed on Sunday. read more

No organization at all! Brought an entire SUV full of donations. If there was signage in the parking lot or on the building it isn't very clear where to drop off your donations. So I loaded everything into a few carts and took it inside. No one to offer any direction inside so I push the carts all the way to the back of the store thinking there would be stock personnel back there. Found an employee who tells me I have to take it outside and down to the far end of the building. Uh no, here's my free stuff if you want it! Proceeded to "try" and shop and spend some money but the shelves have product just thrown on them. Piled high, deep and unorganized. Won't return to donate or shop! read more

Certain parts of store are organized well. I was looking for children's clothing and it was organized/displayed by color. While pleasing to the eye, it seems much more logical and customer friendly to sort by size, perhaps?!? Super weird. read more

Terrible service at this place this evening. My husband and I work with a homeless ministry. We stopped by the store looking for bicycles. They had an old Schwinn and a huffy. We asked to speak to a manager about the bikes as they were overpriced. Jacob the manager was stocking shelves so we went to chat with him. He was rude and abrupt taking a phone call in the middle of our discussion. We asked if he could give us a better price on the bikes as they were for a church homeless program. He asked how much they were. We told him $70 in total. We asked if he could sell them for $50. He then proceeded to tell us that he couldn't help us. Again he was rude and abrupt. Considering the source of the donations at DI this was incredibly disappointing and showed no compassion or kindness at all. Very disappointing read more

This is one of the worse store I ever shop at. It is Deseret Industries in Gilbert. Every unorganized, there back yard is a mess. There clothes are over prize. There customer service sucks. I think this particular store is prejudice. If you walk in and look around, it is all white employees. I felt I was treated differently because I wasn't the same color... My shopping experienced was very unpleasant. I got a small basket from there unorganized messy back yard. The price tag on it is 1 dollar. When I came up to the register to ring up my stuff, the price tag on that small basket was not there, must have fell off. So, the cashier asked one of lady at front for a price. And, so she just take a glance and say two dollars. So, I asked the cashier can I have for a 1 dollar because there was 1 dollar price tag on it, it must have fell off. So, she ask the that lady again, and she said, no 2 dollars. There was a customer behind me say she pick it up and look it the same small basket and it was a dollar tag on it. So, I asked again, can I have it for a dollar. And, she said, no, two dollars just like that. Wow, it is only a dollar. I was appalled. It's not the price, it the way I was treated. Maybe because I was not the same color skin? And this suppose to LDS store. I think is not the church or the gospel, it's the PEOPLE. read more
