Update for this apartment! Once again, False information about leasing agreement. This apartment complex reinstated my lease. Sent me to court when I had half the payments. Have proof of paperwork. Sent me an email saying that I broke the lease. And charging me more than court orders. I also have the court papers saying that . Virginia decided to reinstate my lease and not take the other payments. Please do not rent here. They will screw you over. There are other better apartment complexes. This place will mess with your residency score. Updated: as of March 8th of 2025. Still have the email. Which is not fair. I have proof statement about Virginia denying my payment after we had an agreement before court. I will post more updates later. read more

I've been living here for about a month and I can honestly say this is the most comfortable I've ever been. I've lived in 4 apartments in the 5 years I've been living in AZ. I opted in for one of their upgraded apartments for $25 more a month. It's got double sinks in the bathroom, curved bathtub, 2 lazy Susan cabinets in the kitchen w/overhead skylights (no fluorescent lights anywhere), granite countertops (!!) walk in closet in the bedroom with shelf and racks for shoes, handbags, etc.,.... The W/D's are side by side, on the patio, inside a little laundry room (!!). There are privacy lattices on every patio, which keeps out the sun, and protects my stuff. Packages come to a drop off space in the office. We have an app that controls the door and tells us when our package has arrived. The front gate always works (with a keycard, no code that EVERYONE has). The inside of my apartment looks better than what I was paying for in Tempe, but it was about $60/mo more, no washer/dryer. It has it's problems.... neighborhood, it's not perfect, parking is very cramped (I drive an SUV). I would suggest them making parking first come first serve.... This took care of A LOT of parking issues in my last apartment. The apartment is gorgeous, quiet and comfortable. You're not going to get any better than this for the money. I wasn't paid, I don't work for the community or anyone affiliated. I just wanted to help anyone who's looking for simple, quiet, comfortable living. I'm not one to bad mouth people or places however this property is a mess management wise. I've read a large number of the past reviews and see that nothing has changed. I hear the manager has been in his position for over 25 years and has done nothing to assist the residents. When you look at the man in the mirror you find that maybe it's not them it's you and its time for a change in management. As I understand this property is own by a company in CA. Maybe they should come and check on their property. YOU THINK!!!! -Parking is horrible -Even if you do get a parking space they're small. So a ford explorer or a wider/ longer vehicle would not fit very well in them. -I had a case where I had gotten an uncovered parking space. I had went back outside to my car to move it and there were two cars blocking me in. In order for me to get out I had to kind of drive on the grass. -I don't feel safe -I have to work really late and I sometimes have to park all the way in the front and I live in the back. Sometimes walking to my door makes me feel uneasy -I've lived here only 3 and half months and I've had to call maintenance multiple times to come fix multiple things. -The office ladies are kind but overall they aren't useful when it comes to handling their residents. -I have issues with my upstairs neighbors. They're selfish and not considerate about the noise they make especially at 10pm-2am. -Their has been a case where I was home alone with my younger brother and a man was wandering around the grounds holding a crowbar and knocking on neighbors doors along with mine. I didn't answer at the time and he continued to do so for the rest of the night. -I also go to work really early. Like leaving the house at 3am and there has been a couple times where I'm driving to the exit gate and random people would be standing around a car and they all stop and look at me as I pass them. Half of the time I see really shady things. -garbage cans always have couches and beds around them -In the morning the maintenance men will walk around and pick up small trash -Sometimes when I go to park there is glass in the parking space and left there for a week or two. - Getting out the apartment is pretty easy although the surrounding area is questionable. -The elementary school next door is okay. ***VERY LONG BUT WORTH THE READ*** We had a chair outside on my patio because it's OUR patio and we didn't have anything else on our patio and the manager, Virginia took a picture of the chair on our patio and our front door and sends this to us in a letter in the mail and says that we need to remove this chair because it's not "patio furniture" and it's not following the guidelines. If you walk around the neighborhood there were 4+ apartments that had non patio furniture, but yet she can, also she has two big storage boxes outside full of items which is not considered patio furniture We have seen at least 6 different people in Virginia's apartment and besides that they are all rude. Her kids have knocked on my door and ran multiple times and my roommate has witnessed them running away from my front door as well as they don't move for people on the sidewalks while they are riding their scooters. Virginia also has 3 covered parking spots when everyone else including me and my Roommate only have one spot that's covered so if you have two cars you have park up front and walk from the front of the complex to your apartment. Her daughter parks in a vacant spot #12 while Virginia parks in 219 it's for the show home I'm guessing but yet her daughter sometimes parks in 218 so I see them both parking in different spots that they are not paying for while all of us other residents have only one covered parking. The maintenance men are inappropriate and will come in your house to fix things but also snoop around to try and get you in trouble for things you don't actually do or have. I had one maintenance man come in to fix a board and he walked into my room while I was naked and I told him to just finish what he needed to finish and get out so I then went to the office to tell Danielle (management) that he walked in my room without permission while I was naked!!!! then there goes Virginia saying " You know that a big accusation" as if I was lying or something. She told me to send her an email about what happened and I said I didn't have her email so she says "You can get it" but never gave it to me. I verbally expressed how much I didn't want this guy in my apartment to both Virginia and Danielle and I'm guessing it didn't matter. I sent it but I couldn't get her email so I sent it on the website from the contact page assuming it would get to her because that's what the contact page is for, the situation never got handled and no one checked in on me which is fine, but then when I put a maintenance request in recently they sent that same inappropriate guy into my apartment to fix a few things. When I brought it to her attention she said well you never sent me the letter so it's not my fault. Even though I had expressed and literally told her I don't want him in my apartment again. When I moved in they didn't even give Us an inspection report, this was my Roommate and my first apartment so we thought that was normal but it's not so now they are trying to make us pay for ripped vinyl on the floor that was there when we first moved in in the kitchen which we couldn't have possibly done because ripped vinyl can only happen if you're moving large and heavy furniture and you can obviously tell it's from the dishwasher or refrigerator and they never bothered to fix it. Virginia saw it when I had moved in and now 10 months later she claims she's never seen it ripped. they will do anything to steal money from you. They rig everything so It breaks while you are living there and then make you pay for the broken items that were already broken but then you can't prove it because they fill out the form for you. I don't know if anyone else has had any problems like this but my Roommate and I certainly don't ever want to live here again. They keep changing their stories on how much things will cost to fix and when you ask for a written document of it they say they 'cant get one for you' which is BS because they need to tell you what they're charging you for. AVOID THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX AT ALL COSTS!!! My roommate and I lived here for 11 months and were harassed by management, gas-lighted, and had our privacy invaded. When we first moved in, we thought we had found paradise. Rent was reasonable, the gate was consistently locked, there was a great mail room, and the landscaping was gorgeous. Little did we know that we would be entering the ninth circle of hell that is treachery. For the first six months we had no problems with management and they seemed nice enough. Then we got a complaint from management saying that we needed to take down my handmade Halloween decorations, that had only been up two weeks past Halloween, saying they were making the complex look trashy. When I told them I worked a lot, just wanted to enjoy my decorations for a bit longer, and they were being disrespectful for calling my decorations trashy for having only been up two weeks past Halloween. I got a rude response from them telling me that they didn't appreciate what I said and refused to apologize by saying that they hadn't said that it needed to be right away. This was just the beginning of our problems with management. We had a four month ordeal with management regarding a cockroach infestation in our apartment. They gas lit us and said that we had brought the cockroaches with us even though our neighbors said they had cockroaches long before we moved in. They made us think that a fog was our only option even though the lease said we could use less invasive methods. They only did one treatment of a less invasive treatment after meeting with them on several occasions then gave us a first warning of health noncompliance and said we had to do the fog. I didn't have time nor the ability to do a fog due to working the night shift and being asleep during the times they would need to do it. They never seemed to grasp the concept that I worked at night and would complain that they couldn't get a hold of me during the middle of the day when I was asleep. I managed to hold them off through the holidays since my work was giving me a lot of overtime and not allowing me to take any time off until the middle of January. I tried giving them research papers and articles on alternative methods and evidence that cockroach bombs are not effective long term, are dangerous for the environment, and were not recommended they be overused by the EPA. I never got a response to this email, I doubt they even read it. When I was finally able to take time off of work because they refused to schedule it on any other day than Wednesday. I spent 24 hours preparing & cleaning up after this fog and at least a week putting dishes back in the cupboards when I got off of work, despite still working a lot of overtime. By the middle of February, I was exhausted & hoped this would be the last of our issues with management. It wasn't close to the last of our issues. They then demanded we do a fog every 2 weeks until they are satisfied the cockroaches are gone. When I told them I couldn't take anymore time off of work and did not have the energy to do another fog due to my declining mental health. They completely ignored me & forcibly came into my apartment without my permission, waking me up. When I went down to the office upset, they were demeaning and gas lit me saying I was being difficult & that I needed to just suck it up & comply with them. I had to call in sick from work due to the damage that altercation did to my mental health; I have complex PTSD. At the beginning of March, they refused to accept rent payment & wouldn't say why. That is when we then get our second letter of health noncompliance and 10 days to resolve the cockroach problem. I then contacted a third party exterminator & they told me that they don't do bombs when a unit is still occupied due to the amount of work it requires and recommended a less invasive 4 week treatment of the apartment. I sent management their quote and approval papers for the third party to do the work. Management responded with a notice to terminate lease & to vacate in 6 days via email. Even though I knew it wasn't legal, I no longer felt safe in my own home. So we scrambled to find another apartment and managed to vacate the apartment. I had to take two days off of work to do this on short notice. We are then sent a notice to terminate lease for late payment of rent even though we tried to pay them rent at the beginning of the month. Now they are trying to make us pay late fees, a full month's rent, and other expenses of supposed cleaning fees and damages, even though we left the apartment in relatively good condition. We did a full wipe down of everything and patched any nail holes in the wall. They have been completely shady, dishonest, and illegal. I am currently in the process of complaining to the Attorney General's office about the harassment, retaliation, and illegal actions of this property management. I'm still fighting for justice for what happened to us. read more

Have a seat. This is going to be long, but it'll help make your decision whether or not to live here.. There are definitely worse places to live, but trust me when I say there are also MUCH BETTER. Upon moving, everything was fine, no complaints. Very shortly after that, my family and I started realizing that some of the office management were extremely rude and nit-picky and we began receiving corrective action emails for things that made no sense to us. At the time, we had a dog. Myself and the other person living with me both worked (obviously, because, for the area and what you get, rent is way too expensive), so we would leave the dog on the patio instead of locking her in a crate for 10+ hours a day. The dog being a living, breathing, animal would have to go to the bathroom eventually. The patio was NOT covered in feces or urine, it was well kept and we would clean up after her usually the following day. But that wasn't enough. We started getting emails stating that we were violating the lease agreement and would be kicked out if we continued to leave the patio the way that it was, meanwhile, we weren't the only ones with animals who did what they were trained to do and go potty outside. I would also come home to a note on my door stating maintenance had entered my home for an unknown reason and not only was I not home for this, but I also was not notified that it would be happening. On to the parking situation. The complex is so full that at one point, there was a waiting list to move in. There are not enough parking spaces for all of the people who pay to live there. You get ONE covered parking spot, and no, you cannot buy another one, but you can pay $50 a month for a guest parking pass (because that's essentially all it is) and hope that when you get home there's a spot open for you. Security had gone around stocking bright orange stickers on windows and windshields for the most ridiculous things. Those stickers do not come off easily, I scrubbed mine for months. I, and my boyfriend had both received warning stickers because, according to security or maintenance or whoever is making these decisions they have no authority to make, our registration was not up to date. Did you run our plates? If so, that's a pretty neat golf cart you got there because that would be the only way you'd be able to see if that was true. And I know because we had both paid quite a bit of money for our tags, but, I'm not apartment security I guess. The parking lot rules are extensive and also stupid so make sure you read the huge sign by the entrance, especially the one that states you can't park backwards unless you drive a truck. It takes up the same amount of space no matter if you back in or pull in? They've towed people for this, I've seen it happen. Do you like to sleep? Don't live here. Work nights? Definitely don't live here. Maintenance walks by with a leaf blower everyday, and I mean every. single. day. And yes, you will walk out to your clean car with leaves and dirt all over it from this. The lawn is well kept, however, that means that every other morning, you get to wake up to the beautiful sound of a lawn mower or weed eater that doesn't stop for hours. Not to mention, maintenance is far from polite, they're actually quite rude. Being someone who works nights I grew extremely frustrated with the fact that everything is tailored around office hours because not everyone works a 9-5 job. Something to keep in mind, Desert Lakes, there are businesses open past 6 o'clock, which means the seemingly unnecessary repairs that so urgently need to be done at 6am that nobody is kept up to date on start in the middle of the night for some people! That leads me to my next point. There is constantly something that needs to be repaired either in your apartment or outside somewhere. I mean, how broken can something be that every other week it needs to be fixed? You are notified of the repairs that "need to be made," but keep in mind, it goes on Facebook first. Yep. Facebook. Don't have one? Well you'll be the last to know because you won't be receiving on email on what's going on until well after a post is made on the company page. The water was constantly being turned off, and not just for a couple hours. The expected times for it to be off were from 9-5 and you're told to set aside a pot of water so you can flush your own toilet, brush your teeth, etc. so basically, you live like your homeless in an $800, 600sqft, 1 bedroom apartment in the hood (I can say that because I grew up in the area lol). Word of advice though, read the lease. You're going to need to have all the knowledge possible before living here. Lots of food for thought read more

Danielle is a great Leasing Consultant. I moved here when I moved out of my parents house and I love it. They have a gym which has great A/C, the pool is clean, and the apartments are very safe with a Security guard at night. They also have a printing machine and a computer where you can use it if you ever need it. It comes in handy and used the center a couple of times. No loud music, no crazy people here. This is a perfect apartment community! From having a helpful staff to make sure your move in is smooth to having a gated apartment community is very important to my husband and I. We looked at more than 20 apartments, and we decided to go with this one. We made a good choice since this is our first apartment from Chicago. Our apartment is a perfect size. We also enjoyed all the food that is given from the apartment community from pancakes, tacos, hotdogs, and many other delicious foods as well. We searched for days looking for these qualities in an apt. Safety, appearance, apt size and mthly rent. After meeting the staff and walking the property we realized we found an apt that is also home. Several things set Desert Lakes apart; everything comes with the rent (including WiFi and cable ) except electric, balconies are big enough for a couple real chairs and table, double sinks in the bathroom and cabana fan in the bedroom. The staff is friendly and courteous. The best selling point for me is that all the staff lives on the property. Desert Lakes is a great Apt. complex for family, singles and students. read more

I lived in Desert Lakes for two years, 2015-2017. I was at the back of the property. The whole complex is a big square or box shape. When visiting or being placed in an apartment, ask where your parking space will be compared to where you will be living, each apartment has one assigned spot. Visitor parking" is pretty much non existent, people who have multiple drivers in their apartments take the visitor spaces also. I never used the pools, grounds were kept relativity clean, the gym is decent by apartment complex standards, the biggest issue is around the trash cans when one was moving in or out. LOTS of beds and furniture around trash area and at times trash on the side or in front of the cans, b/c why would someone want to pick up after themselves. The inside of the apartments are dated, but you get what you pay for and the area is not the best. I didn't have any issues with management that were not addressed when bringing it to their attention. There are TONS of stray cats around the property. However, decent place for a short term living. read more

We're just shy of living here for two years and we still love it! The grounds are beautifully maintained by Daniel and Jose who work very hard! Our apartment is the perfect size for us, having lived in large homes for over 40 years, we're now in a perfect place. And, it's pretty! The whole staff, Richard the Manager, Virginia and Olivia are friendly and extremely helpful. The Maintenance Crew is as well, but I don't know everyone's name...except Mike and Ivan! Lived year five years ago, first they could never get the ac to blow cold, secondly when I moved out I cleaned the apart, but one of their carpet vendor, rite way, recomended repairing the carpet at a cost of $285, I lived alone there was no damage on carpet. Of course the vendor is gona recommend repairs, even if there is none, otherwise they wouldn't be in business .Five years later they sent me an invoice of $1500 through their lawyer . they took me to court , but their lawyer , mark heldenbrand pc, he is like their HITMAN sued me for $2000. So please anybody thinking about moving to desert lake apartments, stay away. they will screw u over and sue u . Devils . May God condemns them for what they did. read more

Hello to everyone looking for the best apartment complex in north phoenix to live. I moved in to the apartments on Nov 23, 2013. I am very pleased with my decision to move here, the staff is very helpful and will spend as much time as needed to answer any questions you may have on move in. Staff members are Olivia, Victoria, and Richard. I have a one bedroom that is very spacious and well designed. Comes with a full sized Washer and Dryer and I am on the ground floor. The grounds are secured with gates and patrolled at night giving you peace of mind that your vehicle and apartment are safe. Maintenance crew is very good, friendly, quick to respond and the landscaping is keep up very well. I have met a few neighbors and they are all friendly and willing to spend a few minutes to just visit. If you are tired of moving for what ever reason, come home to Desert Lakes Apartments. I doubt that you will have to move again. Looking forward to meeting you. read more

I have lived here since November of 2016. The apartments are so clean and nice. I live in the newly furnished apartments and I love them! The marble counters are beautiful and the dryer and washer in each apartment is so useful and saves a lot of time! I have not had any problems just yet! I would recommend.
