The care staff inside took care of my husband very well... However, I was told by everyone to "call anytime" to get updates since it is a completely blacked out program. I did call in the mornings to make sure that everything was going OK with my husband, however six days in when I was asked to bring him a book that he had requested I arrived and the staff was upset with me, saying that I was not allowed to be there... The admin then told my husband lies about me and made this experience complete hell for me the outside partner who was already going through enough. My husband said the staff inside were incredible and that is the only reason they're getting one star. 1 star for the techs and nurses who were nice during my brief interactions with them and whom my spouse states were all great. Unprofessional behavior from the admin side and general operations that loses all the rest. Beware that they are ACTUALLY covered by your insurance. My significant other called to verify that they were covered by his plan - they did a whole song and dance of calling him back an hour later even, to confirm that "Oh yes we ran it, it's all good, we're covered by your plan!" I just opened his insurance statement. He was billed $6000 a night, as it was in fact out of network, and we are going to get a bill in the realm of $8-9000, only because his insurance 'discounted' it heavily. $6000 a night did not include any of the medications, they never ran any bloodwork "because they couldn't get a vein", and he had a roommate for crying out loud. He didn't even see the actual doctor until after 24 hours - isn't the main purpose of MEDICAL DETOX to make sure you don't die? Who is making decisions on medications for those first 24 hours? A doctor who hasn't seen the patient physically? A nurse who isn't legally allowed to do so? I'd love to know. Libby in admissions called me on his 4th or 5th day, to "plan for his discharge". She immediately tried to sell me on 60 or 90 day inpatient rehab. I firmly declined and stated he was intending to go elsewhere for outpatient. She became short with me after this and ended the conversation. I only found out later that she was supposed to ask me to send my spouse's therapist the list of IOPs he was interested in. She did not do any such thing, presumably to make it harder for him to plan to do anything but continue on in their program. They have zero interest in cooperating with family and do their best to keep patients as isolated from them as possible, in the interest of funneling them into their inpatient program. You will not be allowed to speak to your family member for god knows how long. I was afforded two (listened in on) phone calls, only because his physician father pulled strings. read more

I have a loved one who needed help with her addiction and she could not do it on her own. We reviewed several treatment centers and found Desert Mountain Health to be the best fit. She stayed roughly 2 weeks and had nothing but positive things to say. The health professionals treated her very well, made reasonable accommodations and she said the variety of food was impressive! She was most happy with the recovery model DHM had setup for her starting with the therapy she received from her Behavioral Health Technicians, Allie, and others. I'm happy she received the help she desperately needed and we would recommend DMH to anyone needing the assistance and guidance to jumpstart their recovery! read more

Recently completed detox at desert mountain health and could not have been more blessed than to have found this amazing facility. Came here from San Diego California and it's absolutely worth it. Spent 7 days there for alcohol detox. I could not have felt safer or more cared for. I'm off at my next treatment center for continued support. That staff there was absolutely phenomenal, Allie, is so real, sweet, and understanding. Darren is the best at helping with medicinal questions and calming advice. Brittany is the director of nursing and will help you with any questions you may have and will ensure your needs are met. The food was pretty good considering, I liked the beef and broccoli and the hamburgers were fire. I've made some connections that will change my life and recovery forever. As mentioned from another yelper, this place is just wrong and at a strip mall like setting... Also, they're attempting to collect a per day amount of $6,000 for a 30 day program that my wife signed up. My wife left the facility and they called local and police and fire departments claiming she wanted to kill herself. My wife simply wanted out of that place because in her experience, this place was not facilitating in the efforts to detox... for $6,000 day, they should have made more accommodations for her. No where in the documentation or sign up did I ever see the $6,000 amount. This place is a scam, get the approval from your health provider first. They tell you it is covered, but when in fact they are probably not. I am waiting to hear from my insurance coverage will not cover this and therefore I will be left with 30K debt. The original referring recovery center is Springboard of which I will be writing up a review on shortly. You have to be careful out there with these recovery centers. This was the worse experience for my son and the family. they are very dishonest. most people entering are not well and they are not equipped to handle situations that they said they could handle. There are good places out there. Do not trust this place with a loved one or yourself . Don't go for the pitch pay by check and save 20 percent its so they can cash the check immediately and you will not get your money back even if you didn't get service from them. read more

This is a strip mall Detox center! I was sent by Desert Isles from Sun City as they have no real way to Detox you! Upon arrival I was told I couldn't contact my family for 5 days, this is after I was sent here instead of going to the location listed to my insurance as Emerald Isles! I am sick upon arriving so they don't have me fill out paperwork just sign a few things to be medicated and then medicate me! I saw dr second day and he said to me "you want half the help or whole help, you better cooperate!" It was very arrogant along with his sandals, Hawaiin shirt and ponytail I wasn't sure he was a Dr. that evening I zoom met with a psychiatrist and was medicated for mental health and never saw anyone in person with Dr. in front of there name again! The nurses when asked could not give me names of meds and why I was getting them when dispensing! They have a full calendar with classes throughout out the day however that is not true! I didn't go to one group but was documented for insurance reason as going! When I told the therapist that I saw once I told her "that Emerald Isles said I would only be there 5 days and what was my release date!" She asked me what else they said as if there was no real communication and then she changed her tune and reminded me that we had that same conversation the previous morning and I was too tired at the time to remember! I was scared for my safety the whole stay and would in no way forget a conversation about getting out! I was not released with any copies of signed paperwork just my meds! I got there September 30 and was there for 5 days and taken to Desert Cove again not Emerald Isles. Again Below is a picture of my paperwork saying I was admitted on the 8th but I left the 5th that is 3 days difference! Very unprofessional. I will get a copy from the pharmacy that Desert cove picked up a prescription for on the 6th and post that tomorrow! Very unprofessional. When I left the residential treatment after detox I contacted my insurance immediately to confirm my dates and relay my experience about never being at Emerald Isles as they were being billed for! I was also than able to verify what groups they documented me attending during my stay! Emerald Isle Chris was also the boss for the Desert Mountain Health Clinic! Please ensure you get all your facts about what to expect and do not go in a desperate moment! I have nothing but awareness to gain from my reviews as I have been in a lot of local mental health facilities (I have a problem staying on my medication). I see many bad reviews here but for me this place was the best place that I could imagine for a loved one in need of help. I could always call the nurses station to relay messages or check in on them. My loved one who understandably would prefer to stay anonymous had this to say about their experience there. "They helped me out in every way I needed. The beds are a little uncomfortable but that is the worst thing I can say about the place. The staff were all very helpful and very nice. I truly am so thankful to many of the staff members personally. The other patients were all wonderful and being as we were all in the same boat we shared a feeling of camaraderie and I made some healthy friendships with people who have the same goals of sobriety and healthy living as I do. The coordinators were fantastic and I probably wouldn't be here if it wasn't for peter and chris personally talking with me or texting with me anytime of any day to help find a way to make it work with my life and at times just checking in on me to make sure I was ok because it took me two months to find the time in my busy life to do it. One of the times we talked I could hear his kid in the background and I felt amazed he would take time out of his personal life and away from his own family just to help me. I felt like they truly cared about me as a person and not as a dollar sign. You get to meet people and make connections and participate in group meetings. All of the staff that I dealt with on a daily basis were so caring and would bend over backwards to help you through the rough experience of detoxing from whatever it is you are detoxing from but especially Torence made a big impact on me and I felt real love for me and I feel the same for him. Sure you might hear some hard truths but they are truths and in no way did it feel mean spirited or uncaring, just the opposite. You do get isolated from the outside world unless you need to make a call or something they will make time during the day for you to do that but that is what is needed to make the process work. Nobody forces you to do anything. Its not jail it is a choice. The doors are never locked. You can walk out anytime you feel like it. They will try to convince you to stay because they care and it is what's best for you. If you leave they will always accept you back you will just obviously have to start the process over. My brother is asking for help right? And we call this place .... An 833 number a call center pretty much they take his information right verify of course his insurance is valid (because it's all about the money) it's good, checks out. We get there we are not greeted by the person that took the call but this nurse that is from the bat very hostile and couldn't stay still herself. I believe her name is brea. My brother is intoxicated can't really keep a conversation. This "nurse" is treated him like garbage from the beginning. I am as his sister concerned of the way she is talking to him from the beginning I think to myself they deal with this all the time they will be ok. NOPE. She is adamant about me saying bye to my brother and for me to leave. The male nurse follows me outside gets my information we have a brief conversation and she comes out the front door very hostile telling me "he will not stay being this drunk and verbally abusive" screaming at me like I was the one disrespecting her. Very unprofessional and disrespectful to me that did not know what just went on inside after I stepped out. Even her co worker that was outside with me said "she is overwhelmed overworked. She is from day shift covering night shift" this is to me is alarming and has nothing to do with me or my brother. You would think in the profession and office they work in they would know how to handle situations like this. This "nurse behavior is unacceptable and uncalled for and should be taken as a serious violation of their practice. Imagine if I would of left him there the further abuse he would of taken from this staff. I tried calling the director a few times and left voicemails and no answer. Stay away from this place.
