With most things found via Yelp, I read all previous reviews before considering the business, as I did with this place. Here's what I did NOT like: *When pulling into a tire establishment, there should be some sort of employee outside to help customers, there were none *I had to go inside, wait for the employees to stop laughing and talking to be helped- the door opening and a customer standing inside your establishment, should have been enough to get serviced, maybe add a bell to the door? *the employee told me my tire would need to be replaced, because I had a nail in the tire "too close to the wall" and the tire would have been $300 - $400 for a tire, and that I should find somewhere else cheaper because he really can't fix it, maybe put a plug but honestly, I needed a new tire. I was also told I would have a warranty on the vehicle that covers tires. To which I responded I don't, that's why I'm here. The convo just spun back around to - new tire (The tires are 19inch and are $230 at best before taxes, I asked how much do they charge for labor he says $40) *I was talked over and not listened to, and then left standing next to my car, as he went inside of the establishment. Rude Here's what I liked: *This tire shop wasn't far from where I live, that's all I got -love the positive reviews, however make sure you treat everyone with respect and work on the customer service. I'd like to acknowledge the micro aggressions towards me, clearly a black woman, and to drop a small gem: ^ALL MONEY SPENDS THE SAME^. I ended up taking my car up the street to America's Tire and the tire was fixed, they also lifted and checked the car instead of talking over it. No $300 - $400 charge there. I got a blown tire in the middle of the night and had my car towed home. I called Desert Tire and they referred me to a reasonable tow operator to bring my car in - excellent experience. They replaced the blown tire, repaired a bent rim and had me on my way within an hour! They are very honest and great to deal with. This was at noon on Saturday, so it was a lifesaver because my spouse is in a nursing facility, and I need to travel to visit. These are people you can trust. read more

Don't do business with this place! I purchased a used tire from this place 3 days ago and yesterday I was on the freeway during rush hour and that tire had a blowout. I called this place and spoke with the manager whom baffled me with his dis-concern about the tire, he said well a used tire has no warranty and the best he can do is maybe offer me another tire for $20.00 if it was indeed a tire that I purchased from them. I explained to him that there was nothing left of the tire so how could I show him something that was no longer have, he said well then there is nothing that I can do! I understand a used tire has no warranty however it was the day after I bought the tire good business they would have offered to replace the tire free of charge at least, This guy has no business being in management, all he would say is, it;s not my problem! I purchased four new tires for over $500.00 from this business and was told that I had a 70K warranty on these tires, After 21,000 miles the tires were almost bald and when I went back to see what could be done, the answer is NOTHING. If you get tires from this place, get the warranty information in writing. I did not and took their word for it. Big Mistake! Now I am going to another tire dealer in Cathedral City that actually will stand by their tire warranties. We took the car to Desert Tires, who quoted us a fair price and promised the work in less than 5 hours. They delivered on all, a great job, in the time quoted, and best of all, they received a discount for buying all the parts in one package and passed the savings on to us. So, I had a piece of warranty work to be done on my motor home and was referred to Desert Tires and Automotive as a member of a nationwide network of mechanics that would do the work. I went in to visit with them on a Wednesday. I brought all the paperwork and talked for quite a while with the guy at the desk. George, I'm told. He said they'd be glad to do the work, (replacing the blower motor under the dash), and we set up a date for the following Tuesday. I even had him come out to the motorhome and look at the motor to be sure he wanted to do the job---it's a little hard to reach. He said it would be really easy. The following Monday I stopped by and talked to the same guy, (George), and said, "I'm bringing in my motorhome tomorrow morning--what time do you want me here?" He tells me to come in at 8:30. We chat for a minute or two and I remind him I live in the motorhome with a wife and dog so we needed to really try to get the job done by the end of the day. He tells me it's no problem, he's found the part. I OFFER TO GO PICK UP THE PART. He says, "no it'll be here in the morning" The next morning, I unhook the RV from the KOA Campground, it's takes about an hour to move a motorhome, and drive it down to Desert Tires and Automotive. A different guy is at the desk and I tell him why I'm there. He knows nothing about it. He says he needs to go talk to the mechanic. He doesn't come back in the office for about 40 minutes. I ask him what's going on and he tells me to go ahead and move the rig into the parking lot. He then tells me nobody did anything to get the part but they can get it by 1:00 p.m. I remind him I had been there offering to go get the part and was told to come in early. I remind him I need to have it out by the end of the day. He tells me it's not a problem. I sit until 1:00 p.m. in their waiting room. Then he comes over to tell me there is no part. They can't get a part. I move the RV back to the camp without getting the work completed---I wasted most of the day. I recommend you find someone else to do your automotive work in Desert Hot Springs. These guys are either lazy, liars or just really bad at the part of the job where you help people. read more

I look at my mechanic like I look at my doctor. Once I find a good one, I stick with them. I don't like moving around and having all kinds of hands all over my baby Lexus. I moved to the area about a year ago. Out of necessity, I pulled my truck into Desert Tires and didn't know what to expect. I was very happy to find that the work was done, right, it was done fast and the best part is the price was fair. A lot of times I run into mechanics that like to take advantage of females because most are completely clueless about car repairs. Many times you drive away and feel like you were just screwed over. Then later one of your guy friends or family members tell you that you got taken for a ride. I hate that! Well, girls you can forget about those worries at Desert Tires. They don't try to sell you stuff you don't need or end up leaving with a bigger problem you went in with. These guys are very trustworthy, professional and knowledgeable.
