All of the stylist seem to be doing shampoos and color which all looked awesome, but if the volume at the bowl would have been quieter while I was in my chair, I would have been more relaxed. I would not recommend this salon for mesh integration systems or other high-cost, technical hair…read moreservices. I spent several thousand dollars on a mesh integration/topper and extensions after relying entirely on professional guidance. The system was installed incorrectly, and once the initial styling settled, the placement issues were clear. I returned in person specifically to have the installation corrected. Instead of fixing the issues, I was told I would need to wait approximately 8 weeks until my next scheduled visit for a reinstall. For a service of this complexity and cost, being asked to live with an improperly installed system for weeks is unacceptable. The topper color also failed quickly. Within about three weeks, it faded back toward a lighter/blonde tone and no longer matched my brown hair. This is an integrated system worn with natural hair, and color compatibility is a basic functional requirement. I was sold this based on color and texture pattern matching, which was not represented honestly or transparently, as the hair is heavily pre-processed and does not hold color that is dyed at the salon. There were also billing transparency issues. I later discovered--only after requesting an itemized receipt--that I had been charged for extension hair that was never installed or physically provided to me. Despite raising this issue, I was never refunded for the incorrect billing. Overall, this experience showed a lack of technical expertise, inadequate quality control, and poor transparency for a service that requires precision and experience. If you are considering a mesh integration or similar system, I strongly recommend seeking out a salon in a major hub (such as Chicago) with extensive, specialized experience in these systems. This is not a service that should be handled without proven expertise. Do not get mesh integration at this salon.

I hate giving a negative review -we own a business and know how a bad review can be hurtful and…read moreaffect how you are perceived. The experience with one of their new stylists was so bad it warranted a heads up so others do not have the same experience. I requested a 1st appt. at Frank's based on the great reviews here on Yelp. I was scheduled with a new girl Victoria instead of Frank or Louis. My first red flag. Full disclosure-I had many red flags along the way where I should have stopped her. I've been fortunate to have had a great stylist for over twenty years and was perhaps naive to how fortunate I have been. I had been trying to stay close to our new home downtown since the start of Covid hence the exploration to Frank's. First red flag -Victoria upon 1st greeting said she was SO relieved I wasn't very curly because she wasn't comfortable with that type of hair. I had specifically asked for someone who could cut curl so this was alarming but since she was relieved at it not being too curly I was still positive. She was very sweet and conversational and gave a great shampoo and head massage. From there unfortunately it went downhill. She requested to cut my hair dry. Another red flag. Her inexpensive hair dryer (and later flat iron) were burning my already very fine hair. The heat from the dryer was so hot I said as much but unfortunately I was not heard or understood. It was evident she was inexperienced with my request to blend my hair as she proceeded to cut large sections which did not blend but were making it appear choppy. Side note-her scissors kept getting hooked on my ears with the small hooked section of the scissors. Final red flag -halfway through the cut she shares that she had only been there a month and came from Great Clips. ......... My immediate thought--this seemingly high end salon on Mass Ave with high end products and prices had let someone with little experience outside of Great clips cut their clients hair? Needless to say, in the end my hair looked horribly chopped; her styling did nothing to improve or disguise what a horrible cut I had received. I immediately left and contacted my stylist of 20 years and begged forgiveness. I was thankfully squeezed in the next day and she managed to correct most of the damage. (She was horrified at the cut btw) I don't necessarily blame the young stylist who was clearly inexperienced but looking back realize that one or both the owners should be aware of the poor skill set of the stylist they employ and that represents them. Ironically at check out with one of the owners he was awkwardly silent despite her request for him to schedule a follow-up highlight (she apparently did not do color) not even a mention for scheduling the color much less a question on my satisfaction. Was he aware of the obvious bad cut? I cannot presume to know. I do know that this review should be a red flag for them to be more careful on whom you hire as they represent your business. She's received and trained all over the country, her husband and she owned a beauty college for many years and are a hidden gem in the nearby suburb of Brownsburg. .
