I've always been a bit of an Ikea man when it comes to furniture. I don't really care all that much, as long as the place looks presentable. Some of the furniture in this place really is wonderful though. Firstly let me say I'm not a fan of leather, so I stayed right away from that. I don't like the feel of it all that much and in summer you stick to it. Their fabric lounges are the ones I made a beeline for and they were extremely comfortable. You can just sink into them and they ooze quality. There are a lot of practical storage options as well, and they are very pleasing to the eye. the book cases in particular, while they may look simple are actually quite elegant. The prices are noticeably higher than you would find at Ikea, but you're paying for quality here. With that being said, they're nowhere near as expensive as some places I've seen.

One Rundle Trading Company is a shopping experience. With gifts, furniture, books, pictures,…read moremirrors and a whole lot more on sale, there's always plenty to choose from. I often like to just browse through there to see what they have on offer. If you wander through to the back of store - and trust me its not a small space to wander through - you'll find a range of beautiful fashion pieces as well. All in all One Rundle Trading is an eclectic mix of beautiful things. I love the way the shop is set out with a Ladies Room and a Gents Room at the front of the store - and by that I don't mean toilets but rather rooms for of things specifically for men and women. There's also a children's room and a garden or outdoor room as well. They offer a Bridal Registry and an Interior Decorating service and best of all a free - yes free - picture hanging service. The space itself is massive and once served as a 1920's Melba Picture Theatre. Located in Stuart Road at Dulwich, I recommend wandering through on a Sunday afternoon to take in the sights. When you're in there, don't forget to look at the beautiful old ceilings - they're as gorgeous as many of the trinkets and pieces you will just fall in love with.

I stepped through the front archway into a glittering, vast space full of chandeliers and hallways leading into more beautiful rooms. I avoided eye contact and didn't want to touch anything for fear they would tell me I'm too poor to shop here. The rear section is clothing, and the books and pictures around the area with words like DIOR and CHANEL hinted at the fact I couldn't grab a bargain for twenty bucks. But a pair of shorts for five hundred? Sure, pocket change for you brokers and people with old money. What beautiful homewares they have, gorgeous lamps and paintings and sculptures, the only consistency being no two things are alike and yes, you pretty much could close your eyes and point and find a gorgeous antique chest or a marble sculpture of a blackbird and want to take it home so bad you nearly weep. I will never look at Ikea the same again. This store is glorious and completely unattainable for the likes of me.

Fantastic Home & Gifts is very 'The Reject Shop'-esque, though I don't feel all cheap and nasty…read morewhen I walk in here. They have a lot of items available for a cheap price, and it doesn't all look like it's going to break the second or third time you use it. There is a huge range of vases, photo frames and kitchen items especially. So again, it's similar to shops like The Reject Shop but it actually looks like it's looked after and that people don't feel guilty walking in there.

However, the friendly staff really help make things easier. During my last visit, I was welcomed with a smile and assisted by a helpful employee who guided me through their party balloon supplies. She didn't direct me to the priciest option, and when I asked about a price tag that was wrong, I was quickly refunded the difference. The small details really matter to someone like me who often gets lost in these stores.

Spotlight is one of those names that you never hear anyone talk about. But there are some fabulous bargains if you go hunting. There's some cool home decor that you can get from a minimum $20-$40. I only learned of the existence of this shop through word-of-mouth. Why spend soooo much money on home decor (thousands of $$dollars!) when you can just pop into this small slice of interior designer's paradise, and collect bits and pieces! Oooh! What I love most about this store is their staff, especially the pure honesty and guidance of their cash register staff and refund counter assistants. They sorted my undesired purchases out really quickly and drama-free, made sure that if there were any missing parts like a globe, for instance, that they would tell me where to go next to get it ("We don't sell that here, but you can go to the supermarket for a globe"), and even refunded one of my purchases that I didn't need anymore for the house. This is exactly one of the big things I look for in a store (fantastic help!). When you've regretted a big purchase for the home, it's nice to deal with someone that gets your refund transaction done really well. I highly recommend these guys! If what you need is not here, their guidance and direction leads you to the right place! I've gone to Rundle Mall an awful lot, and I knew which staff are good with helping you. Ironically, my first visit to Spotlight "led me to the light" when I was in the dark. In fact, the computer desk lamp I'm currently using for my long hours of yelping was found through the word-of-mouth from one of the shop assistants at Spotlight. So definitely worth a visit! I'll come back to see if they have any other good bargains for the home.

This is the second bedding store in a series of stores entered to find the right mattress. I can…read moresay that it was a pivotal point in making a decision in what we did and didn't want in a bed. As long as we stick with it I think it'll make our progress easier, just need to find the best of both our worlds, hubbies and mine. The sales assistant was the only person in the shop and she had to go from one customer to the next, think at least two staff should have been present for two reasons, customer assitance and the other security. Hubby and I sat on the first bed we noticed and it turned out to be a memory foam mattress, and as my son put it previously 'it feels like lying on a bed of marshmallows'..he's not half wrong because I imagine it would be a bit like that, he,he,he. Next was a normal sprung mattress and that didn't feel right, lastly a latex mattress which felt really good but maybe a little too soft even though it was labelled as medium density. Price wise too much, long single $1200 and as we were wanting two to make up a King Size = $2400, then we needed a base it was just too much. They make their own beds and have been manufacturing since the 1800's, being a family business which is great. But unfortunately I don't think we'll be buying from here as what we wanted cost too much but there is a good range on display and the service is very good.

It must be a combination of the rock bottom prices, or the treasure trove of the trashy, tasteless, terrible and brilliant all in one location! Some places you'll find reflect the community, in fact I once went to an op shop in the middle of Queensland where I swear all the clothes were as dusty as the town. Just feels so damn genuine. Community Courtyard is a melange of VHS, toys, bric a brac and clothes, as far as the eye can see. Some were actually in pretty good nick too,,, not for the faint hearted however, as this will require a good rummage. pants, dresses, skirts and jumpers are all $4, jackets and shoes $5 and tops $3.

Well not even Cheap As Chips can do merch at $2 anymore and these guys had to have a point of difference right? Oh yes and I should also pre-warn you the name of this store is incredibly deceiving...unless you consider tupperware, nail polish, baskets, costumes and bath sponges as fashion items this place does not live up to its name. The other deception? Not EVERYTHING in the store is $2.80. Luckily when I walked in I walked into the left hand side of the store (which is the $2.80 part of the store). The right hand side of the store has any product costing above $2.80 in it! So if you are looking for kawaii costumes and random storage crap and beauty related items that you can't read the ingredients of then this place is for you. Just keep in mind the tips to getting around Kawaii so you don't get caught out when in store!

One half of this store is devoted to a wide range of these products - though there is often a high mark up - the other stocks a wide range of bargain knick knacks, each selling for $2.80. (The $2.80 side is much like a mini version of Japanese discount chain Daiso!) Customer service is hit and miss - sometimes it's terrible but the last time I was there the sales assistant was extremely helpful! An interesting store worth checking out at least once, even if you're not into this kind of stuff!

I hadn't come across this store before, so popped in to see what they do. I was impressed by their…read morerange of notepads and account books. I could find any size here I needed! I stocked up on a couple of obscure sizes I use for everyday notes. I was bemused by the shelf of instant coffee and kitchen cleaners in the centre of the shop, then more so by the paper plates and cups nearby. Then I realised - it's EVERYTHING an office could need. How clever! I always got cranky if our shop kitchen didn't have coffee or milk. Way to keep the employees happy - stock up on caffeine when you pop in for 500 reams of paper. In terms of paper, they're not very cheap, but they have a large range of oddities, like all different sizes and widths of receipt papers and specific printing paper. They also sell ink jets and blank CDs and DVDs, which always come in handy. A good little store, with friendly staff.
