Absolutely Disappointed and Outraged with Dr. Tom Updike's Service…read more We recently had a deeply concerning experience with Dr. Tom Updike that left us feeling disrespected, dismissed, and completely unsupported in a time of urgent need. Late one evening, around 10:30 PM, we called in desperation regarding a goat on our farm who was showing serious signs of a possible urinary blockage -- straining to urinate, hiding under objects, and clearly in significant pain. As any responsible animal owner would, we reached out for professional help immediately. Instead of receiving concern, compassion, or even a shred of professionalism, we were coldly told by Dr. Updike that "it's 10:30 at night and I have to be up early. I will not come in at this time to look at a goat." This response was not only unprofessional but deeply inhumane. Regardless of the hour, we were reaching out because a living animal was suffering, and we expected -- at the very least -- acknowledgment of the urgency and some kind of direction or advice. Instead, we were met with blatant disregard and a complete lack of empathy. If you're looking for a vet who genuinely cares for animals at all hours -- as their profession demands -- we strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on our experience, this vet service is unreliable in emergencies, dismissive of urgent animal health concerns, and prioritizes their sleep over the well-being of the animals they are supposed to serve. We will not be trusting Dr. Updike or this practice with any of our animals again.

We got pictures of him every night playing and I could tell he was loving all the attention by the smile on his face. The building is spotless and each dog has an individual room with a bed, not a cage. I know it is a little out of the way for most people bc it is in Fairbury but trust me it is well worth the drive.
