I've used other companies where the "call service fee" is applied to the final bill and always been ok with that. But here -- not the case. Apparently this new $250 service fee that isn't applied to a final bill started in Jan 2022. Not cool Excellent Roofing.

He pointed out a few problems with the prior installation, some of which I already was aware of and some I was not. He took the time to explain everything and make sure I understood. We discussed quite a few things and I am convinced that he and his team will do a very professional job. Today was supposed to be the installation, but thanks to his team, they caught a problem with the door that the national company did not and a new door has to be ordered. It would have been bad if they would have started the installation and then I noticed the dents later. I am convinced they will do a professional job as they are so professional. An amazing feat! The clean-up was perfect. They even used magnets to pick up all the nails at the end. Timely, professional, and least disruption possible to complete this difficult process. KMC was very eager to take on work at my mother's home and initially came across as professional, he is a good talker. However, that is where the professionalism ended. He does not have a contractor's license nor does he have a legitimate qualifying agent. We have him on recording falsely claiming that he is licensed. When we contacted the individual he later claimed was his "qualifying agent" that person confirmed he does not work with him and had only been contacted after we began asking questions. My mother hired KMC to repair her shower, fix rotten wood on the house and work on her bathtub. He was quick to take $7,000 upfront but after that communication became extremely inconsistent. He would ignore calls and messages for days at a time and repeatedly make excuses for not showing up. Meanwhile he was actively working on his girlfriend's salon and posting photos of that work on Facebook while ignoring my mother. The workers he brought in were unqualified and we were never provided with proof of licensing for him or the plumber he claimed to hire despite multiple requests. The workmanship was poor and caused significant additional damage. For the bathtub installation he used braided supply lines wrapped in plastic bags under the tile floor and failed to secure the bathtub to the floor, which is not up to code. As a result my mother had to spend an extra $10,000 to repair what was done incorrectly. The shower was done incorrectly . The old showers doors were to be reinstalled after the work was completed with the shower but they were not able to because it was not done the correct way and new doors had to be purchased. He repeatedly lied about the status of the work and whether it was being completed. When we finally demanded proof of licensing and paused the project until documentation was provided he attempted to shift the blame by claiming we were preventing him from finishing the job. This situation is especially upsetting because my mother is a recent widow who trusted him. Misrepresenting yourself as a licensed contractor is not only unethical it is illegal in Tennessee. This matter has been reported to both the state and local authorities. More action is also in the process. I fully expect a response claiming he is "just a handyman" but that does not change the fact that he explicitly told my mother he was licensed and we have that on recording. Proceed with extreme caution.

Just then he realized it continued through our expensive steel roof & there was a gap between the steel roof & the pipe. The weather called for hours of rain for yesterday. What to do? Jimmy was so easy to work with & had terrific people skills on the phone. We were also delighted that Jimmy sent Eric out to finish the fix on the roof when he said he would yesterday afternoon. Eric was conscientious enough to fix a small crack on another pipe while on the roof. This was problem solving of the highest order for us.

Mitch was very unprofessional when he came to our house after a tree had fallen on it putting us out of our home for 7 months. My husband was not belligerent or drunk. Just because someone gets off work and has 1 beer to decompress from a long day of work AND a tree falling on our house making us unable to live in the home, does not make him drunk or belligerent. Mitch's terrible attitude was the problem in a very stressful situation. When they did remove the tree they drove all over my front yard with a bobcat, tearing the driveway and front yard up. I have proof of that and my insurance company is having to pay to fix everything due to Landmark's incompetence. Dewayne and his team at Renovate Memphis promised a "turn-key service" on their website, but our…read moreexperience has been far from that. We engaged them for a major project and, unfortunately, we've faced a series of issues and frustrations. Communication: One of the biggest problems has been the lack of communication. We were assured of regular updates, but these were sporadic at best, leaving us in the dark about the progress of our project for extended periods. Work Delays: Our project was initially projected to take around 16-20 weeks. Unfortunately, it's now over 39 weeks and counting. Not only is this a significant delay, but it's deeply frustrating as our home has been turned into a construction site for much longer than we anticipated. Inadequate planning: Part of the work delays were a result of permeating issues. We were never included in communication between the city and Renovate Memphis. After week's of delay - we called the city ourselves and were able to resolve all the issues and get approval in 30 minuets. Other planning issues include: leaving things off the budget like a toilet, severally underestimating the amount of drywall needed, being surprised we had a gas dryer when all client supplied materials and appliances were shared months prior with links to manuals and installation instructions. Contract Discrepancies: There have been several discrepancies between what was agreed upon in our contract and the work that has been done. Notably, there were issues with materials like siding and crown molding that didn't match the original plans. Other contract discrepancies include having to pay extra to repair and replace wood rot when the contracted stated that all wood rot would be repaired, replaced and readied to be painted. Quality Control: Multiple quality control issues arose throughout the project. From tile grout to flooring placement, insulation, and even small details like window's being sealed, we had to constantly identify and request corrections. We have a run of molding outside that does not match any of the other molding. The floors were installed incorrectly per manufacturer's instructions - we had to point this out and now have yet another delays as we wait for them to install them correctly. This has been a source of ongoing frustration. Payment and Change Orders: There have been numerous instances where change orders were initiated without prior approval, and without clear disclosure of additional costs. We incurred unexpected expenses that were not part of the original scope of work, leading to budget discrepancies. Examples include: gutters removed and replaced and a portion of the roof replaced. There were additional cost that were promised to be covered, but then reneged. Other cost were never mentioned until a bill was sent - for example, when walking though with the project manager, he asked where we wanted outlets placed - it was only after the fact did we get a bill for all the outlets. He told us to add as many as we wanted that since everything was open and being rewired to add as many as we could possibly need. Encouragement to Others: We urge others who have experienced or are experiencing similar issues with their renovation projects to review and report their experiences as well. It's important to hold contractors accountable for the promises they make and to share your experiences to help fellow homeowners make informed decisions. Update: We've tried to work through these issues with Dewayne and Renovate Memphis, but there are still unresolved matters.
