This place surprised me! Cleanliness is really important in these type of clubs and desire certainly has that. Some of the other ones in Providence are grimy and gross so I really appreciated how upscale this one is. Two stages, one main one and a very narrow one in front of the TV. Two bars as well and a really spacious and unique patio outside, right underneath the highway overpass. I thought this was really cool and interesting. Entertainers were all gorgeous as well. Very clean environment. The security staff and bar staff are very attentive. They have a members club upstairs with a full restaurant including filets, salmon and delicious baked maple wings. A poor attempt of a "adult entertainment" venue within Providence. Between the ratio of male to female to enter (mostly frequented by men) and the maze they got going on on the first floor, the experience was beyond awful! No entertainers in sight, walking around in circles to get a glimpse of the stage and the outside patio that makes one feel as they just joined a homeless encampment under the 195 connector. Very clean and comfortable environment. Women were attractive and friendly however I was asked to remove my shemagh from my head due to there no hat policy. I kindly explained it was a religious head piece but that wasn't respect and I was asked to leave if it was not removed. The bartender takes the drinks and dumps them before I can say "hey". Her response: "Oh they looked empty" "you can buy another drink and I'll get the manager to see if we can comp you" The manger never showed up. You can buy drink cards fro $100 and get $120 worth of drinks, However keep track of your drink cards. One waitress took 4 drink cards from the guys I was with and only brought back 2. The drink cards still had a significant amount of money on them. One of the guys I was with got a lap dance when we first arrived. We went with another friend couple and the boys went upstairs to play pool while we stood at the stage tipping the girls and having a good time. This is Providence strip joint review number four for yours truly, a female strip club guru. Why am I such a frequent guest at such establishments, you ask? Well, for most, it's just a fun way to break from the normal daily routine we all usually have, and the same goes for me. I suppose I cannot quite explain it in full, other than the fact that it is just flat out fun, and I am never opposed to going places where some of one's inhibitions are left at the door...key word, SOME. So now without further adieu, on to my review of Providence, RI's own Club Desire. Club Desire sits at the end of what one would coin as Providence's "Red Light District" known as Allens Avenue, which is infamous for fetish clubs, a gay bath house turned club (known now as Hush I believe), a few pornography shops, and of course, Cheaters aka The Pink Palace. I have never visited the latter, though I have heard all about it. So, having that said, I'm going to say that Desire is the much classier strip club in this area. Desire is actually a two-story club, the one upstairs is known as "Club Lust." From my understanding, one has to pay for a VIP membership to go upstairs, which I lack, so obviously I cannot provide a review of that part of the club. The main floor is where Desire can be found, and although It is pretty damn small, it is also quite nice, and has a decent layout. When you walk in, the main stage is to the left and there are two bars in the middle, and the private dance areas to the right. The VIP dances are held in what looks like voting booths. Odd, but I assume they do their job (I did not get a private dance here, I just know of where they are held). Also, there are red couches in which the standard private couch dances take place, though it doesn't seem very private to me since they are sort of out in the open. There is also a side stage near one of the bars as well. The lighting isn't half bad, either. Most of the young ladies dancing here are similar in body type, slim and small breasted, with the occasional buxom lady, which is fine by me, though some of them seem nearly emaciated, or at least on the day I went, which was on a Wednesday during the late afternoon hours. The beer wasn't overpriced, about average for this type of establishment, though they only took cash. Okay, now for what I like and dislike about this joint. The setup is really interesting, though I can imagine it to be overwhelming on the weekends due to the small size of the club. The place does not seem to attract very sleazy people, either, as they seem to head over to Cheaters and Fantasies most of the time. As many people have said before, this club is what one would coin as being "middle class" as far as strip clubs go around here. It's not very sleazy, but not as high end as the Foxy Lady would be considered. It's just a good little strip club to go and have a nice, relaxing time. The girls here are very attractive as well, which of course is a huge positive. Now, what I did not like about the club (yes, it's that time again): The fact that they only took cash at the bar was a bit annoying, though now a huge drawback. The ladies' restroom leaves something to be desired (pun intended indeed), as there is only one toilet that is hidden by a shower curtain in there. Now, what really REALLY annoyed me were the attitudes of the girls, for the most part, anyway. Yes, I expect some dancers to completely ignore you at times, that is what I would expect in any work place...some employees are ruder than others, it's a fact of life. However, unless you are sitting at the stage putting dollar bills into these girls G-strings, they seem to ignore anyone that is not a regular or a man by himself, which I have been warned by a few of my friends prior to coming here. Alas, I like to find things out myself. I went here with my boyfriend and we were quite bored because none of the dancers acknowledged our presence. Now, I'm not asking for them to be all over us (as that would bother me just as much) but it was as if we did not exist to anyone except the bartender we ordered our beers from and the girls we tipped on stage. Not good. Well, in conclusion, I would have to say that Club Desire is decent, though not great. The girls here are beautiful, and the night we went most of them knew how to actually dance, but most of them will ignore you completely if you are a couple, or a female. I have always heard these girls cling to their regulars like glue, but wow. Most clubs I have been to in Rhode Island, and especially in Florida, the girls seem to flock to couples and female customers. I suppose if you are a regular here or a dude I presume you must not have this problem. The club is small, and the private dance areas don't seem very private, but the setup and lighting are nice. In conclusion, I would say Desire is decent...but leaves some things to be....Desired? Sorry, I could not help myself. read more

My boyfriend and I enjoy coming here. However, depending on the day, some girls could care less about catering to couples. That seems odd to me because we generously tip the ladies on stage, and always offer drinks or offer to buy dances when we see a dancer we like. I took away a couple of stars because of that - they have a strange attitude towards couples, as if we aren't good enough and our money isn't welcome there. The staff is exceptional and always gives us drink cards and freebies. The women are gorgeous, they should embrace the idea of couples more! We love to spend on the pretty girls. I have been there one time but was highly disappointed with the rude behavior of the staff especially there is Bar Lady on the first bar who is very rude with the customers there , she talks to people as if people are not paying for drinks but she is offering drinks to them for free , she is a very racist person talks to white people fine but talks rudely to non white people. The dances are highly disappointing they say $20 dance but you pay 5$ to the guy outside the lap dance area , the dancers will take minimum 30 $ despite 20 is the rate don't expect any change back from them I paid $40 didn't get any change back despite of asking for change back. I am a fairly regular customer of Desires. Or should I say "was"? I used to go there 1 or 2 times a month driving down from Boston. One particular day I did not order a drink quick enough for the manager's liking and he asked me to leave. Now when I go in I usually get two or three dances from the ladies in there, who I find are exceptional. And I buy what is called a drink card where you prepay $20 for your drinks but your card is worth $25. I still have five of them with partial money still with on each card. Anyway I was asked to leave that day and I wrote to Desires on their website and never got an answer. I wrote back again three weeks later and still did not get an answer. Now it is two and a half months later and I decide to go in and immediately order a drink and sit down at the bar. The manager calls me by name and asked if anybody gave me permission to come back in. I said no and he asked me to leave and basically told me it was too bad if I have money on my drink cards that are unused. I realized that maybe I upset him somehow that day when I don't think I was doing anything wrong or maybe he was having a bad day. I have never been to this place before, I most likely wont go back. The cover was 10$ that's not to bad in strip joint terms. Once I got inside I ordered one coke, it cost 5$ and it came in a very small goblet, filled with ice and about two mouthfuls of coke, def a rip off. The girls were cute, not the usual run of the mill with huge fake boobs and loads of tats. I was having a decent time, until the cash register guy and the dancer tried to scam me out of my money. I chose a topless dance for $25. The cash register guy asked me for the money (which I thought was weird, generally you pay afterwards). So I hand him $25 and proceed to get my mediocre $25 dance. I go to hand the stripper a $5 tip, and then she says it is $20 to me, you only paid $5 to the guy. I argued with her, but then the bouncer/cash register guy gave me the look of death. I had heard a lot of great things about Desire. Many list it as the best strip club in Providence and southern New England. Went last week for a birthday party on a Friday night. The girls were average looking, and there didn't seem to be enough girls for all the gentlemen at the club, which meant finding a girl to give me a dance required some work on my part. Also, this club has a rule that I had not experienced in other clubs: girls will not approach you for a dance if you are sitting at one of the stages. I even asked some girls on stage to come see me after for a dance and they explained they will not be able to come near me while at the stage. I personally like to sit at the stage, go for a dance, and then return to the stage. This rule required me and my group to relocate to the bars in back once we decided we wanted dances. In addition, the club was fairly small, so there wasn't much space to relocate to. Alternately, this rule does make the place ideal for people new to clubs or anyone who doesn't like getting harassed by girls for dances every 2 minutes (which was a nice change of pace I will admit). Drinks were moderately priced. I should also clarify that I did not go to the second floor, which is apparently a separate VIP club. Not sure exactly what is up there. I had been to Foxy Lady in Providence two years prior and found it to be a better club than Desire.
