I love exploring coworking spaces in other cities. That's the glory of Deskpass. Managed to find a free residential parking spot for the day (woohoo!) and walked a few blocks to DeskLabs. So cool that they have the entire building, including the rooftop. Bridget greeted me at the front desk and showed me around. Fantastic customer service. Each floor had a different vibe. Because I had to take a few meetings, I hung out on a pretty empty floor with a desk all to myself. WiFi was strong and there was hardworking staff cleaning around me the entire time. I walked around the building after I was done with work. Rooftop didn't seem super impressive, but I can imagine dressing it up for special events. Always love when there's an espresso machine in the kitchen, though the music is SUPER loud and the communal tables don't lock. Definitely vintage look with all the old-looking furniture. Overall solid work spot to check out if you're local or visiting Chicago. Spacious and perfect for all types of people and industries. Would love to be around the regulars next time! read more

DeskLabs is an amazing space for entrepreneurs, students, and people looking for a high energy workspace. I have been here since around August 2020 in the height of Coronavirus, so it's been a little quieter around here. But the energy is still high and perfect for working, studying or even relaxing back with a beverage from the coffee bar. Location is ideal as it's close to EVERYTHING from great restaurants to the lake. The lake is a quick 10-minute walk for an escape to meditate or maybe even a picnic lunch. In the last 6 months, I have seen a lot of change here at DeskLabs for the better. The owner has deliberately built a highly capable and customer oriented team lead by a new community manager, Kiely Cross. She is aces! Kiely and her team are dedicated to created a dynamic and inviting environment for their community. We spent 2 days at DeskLabs with my team of 6 for an offsite this week. They were friendly, accommodating, and the space was clean, nice, and close to lots of good coffee shops, restaurants, and lunch spots. read more

Great co-working space with helpful and attentive staff. Fully stocked and spacious kitchen area. Dependable wi-fi and four floors of working spaces and offices. Also, great rooftop for nicer days to work outside, overlooking Lakeview. I'd highly recommend it for getting out of the house and networking. Cool place. I went to a google my business event here a couple of years ago and also another private event recently. Great space with a roof with a view of downtown. Not sure how the day to day working would be here but, I imagine it would be good, like the events were. read more

Six weeks ago, I terminated my membership and followed all contract terms. Unfortunately, DeskLabs is not returning the security deposit. On the phone, they say repeatedly that they will credit me "today or tomorrow". On email, they are not responsive. They are giving me the run around, presumably out of the hope that I will not pursue it. This pattern of behavior seems to be consistent with other negative reviews in recent years. I strongly advise against working with DeskLabs. If you do, you should write-off the security deposit as an expense. They are going to work very hard to avoid returning it to you. read more

Be wary. As you can see from several reviews, they may well try to take your deposit or charge you additional rent. Previous tenants I know have been charged falsely too. We were here for years, were model tenants and cleared our office in line with the contract. They are trying to charge us for another month's rent based on the office not being cleared on time. This is simply not true. We left 3 screens that they requested, and this is what we get for that kindness. Aside from all this, the place has really gone downhill over the years. There's a very odd atmosphere, they have barely any patrons, its dingy and always way too hot. They can't control the temperature properly due to infrastructure issues. They have a very high staff turnover too. This is probably not the 'co-working' space you're looking for. read more

I am so sorry to say that this beautiful space is run very poorly. I want to make it very clear that there certainly times when the owner showed me grace, including cutting my membership fee in half for a month when my life partner and business partner passed away suddenly. Unfortunately, his business practices affect the business in major ways. There is a constant turnover in the front desk people, and often there was no one at the front desk. When we were hosting events we would have to wait at the front door and let people in, even though our events had been on his calendar for months. He was often in violation of his own contract, including raising rates without notifying tenants and just taking the money out of their accounts, not having the staff needed to run the location, having construction done on the building (I am talking about someone drilling through the wall to the conference room that we were paying to have a meeting at) with no communication. Instead of talking to the tenants when a situation arises, he hides, doesn't return phone calls and acts rudely. The most intense thing I said to him was that I expect him to be a man of his word, which he took offense to and stopped speaking to me full on. It is such a disappointment to see his staff in tears, to see that he had his children work there and all of them left because of his treatment and that the tenants are affected by his poor attitude and inability to communicate. **I finally had a conversation with the owner which resulted in name calling, voice raising and behavior that is continuously inappropriate and unprofessional. read more

I had the unfortunate opportunity to work with the owner of this place on his website and I'm sorry to say that he is not a good business man. After multiple(well done) video edits he was still unsatisfied with the work and refused to pay me for my services. I suspect he manages the rest of his business this way as well so I must recommend that you avoid this place, especially if you are someone who might potentially work with Muhsin. read more

The space itself is good and is one of the few options in Lakeview. Unfortunately it's over priced and the service is not good (now that I see the other comments I wish I would have stopped here first before signing up). I was only there for 6 weeks. After a couple of weeks I upgraded from a general membership to a private office (I chose this because the cost to rent a conference room for a couple of days was outrageously high, even though the conference room was sitting empty every day). Even though we are in the middle of a pandemic and there were nice offices available, they gave me a tiny office with no window or ventilation. We agreed on price which they quickly charged to my card without crediting me the amount I had already paid for the general membership. I wrote to them immediately and was assured I would be credited the difference when I got my security deposit back. It took me 2 1/2 months to get my security deposit back. I never got credit for the addition money paid - I finally had to walk away because it was not worth my time/effort anymore. They were unbelievable rude during this process - not returning calls, ignoring emails, accusing me of being unprofessional, and refusing my many offers to hop on the phone or zoom to find a resolution. The few emails that were returned were hostile. I tracked down the owner but he just sent me back to the generic members email that was causing the issue (and he didn't seem to care that they were not being responsive). There are soooo many other co-working options in this city. Do NOT go to DeskLabs. read more
