Dinner at Maggie's! Delicious food and cocktails

Had an amazing experience at the Desolation Hotel last weekend. The room was very comfortable, bathroom was spacious and the rain shower and outdoor tub were wonderful. The location is hard to beat - just a short walk to the village, restaurants and chairlift! Don't forget to check out the on site restaurant Maggie's. We had delicious short rib there for dinner and the breakfast omelet is so good. 10/10 recommend a stay here!

What a beautiful addition to the South Lake Tahoe community. It's brings such an upscale atmosphere but still with in walking distance from the Main Street. I stayed here for two nights this past April 2024 and look forward to my next visit. We stayed in the studio which had a full kitchen, bed, couch with pull out bed. Tons of storage, full bathroom and patio with an outdoor tub. Since it was April we caught one day with a little snow and the next day was low 70s and we got to dip in the pool which is heated. The highlight of the hotel is Maggie's restaurant we were at the bar every night and we did brunch one day the short ribs Benedict was amazing!

When: June 15-17 Building C-5 or was it B -5 Everything is in the details and communication, good attitudes, even better friends What to know before you go: I started this list of places and things important to my husband and I for our anniversary. I had a list of hotels I was calling them up, crossing off my must haves and compromises, when I got Stefani man was I happy she answered, friendly attentive sold me on how DH pretty much had everything I wanted (e-bikes $65, clear SUP free).. etc etc The perks of staying here is a Techies dream def in the thoughtful details of the townhome. Definitely Definitely forgot to factor in Altitude Sickness. Not that it changed my plans but I did experience it while staying at DH and might have helped knowing the telltale signs ahead of time. TIPS: Their lobby hours are 7:30/8am to 9pm. The pool and gym 7:30-10pm, their sauna is by appointment (for hygienic reasons) to clean in between guests, and maggie's closes at 9p or 10p. The townhomes are (standard garages) so be prepared for a tighter fit if you bring a truck like we did. additionally, two flights of stairs in townhomes. (be careful) I sure wasn't! (ha-ha) Def suggest scaling down on your wardrobe & luggage if staying in the townhouse. They have dyson hairdryers with the latest Extension Their entire team we met were so kind. They even gifted us a bottle of champagne upon our arrival that was delicious! Additionally the beautiful compound we were taken to on a private beach where Chet and Richard explained to us how to Stand Up paddle board! It was insane, but we loved it. The choppiest water for first timers but we did it! woo! This is why we came to Tahoe. I believe the people you meet the animals who greet you and the things you experience are how memories are made. DH delivered beyond any of our expectations. Tahoe & DH has become a new home away from home! TY DH and team for hosting us. We can't wait to share the footage with our friends and family. Next time we're visiting we agreed we want to come back and also check out 'Hope Valley' and cross it off our bucket list. -SDR

We stayed here for 3 nights in March 2025. Awesome place to stay. Very cozy and homey! The bathtub outside was a great addition. CG was sweet to us and let us book another night when our flight got cancelled. Can't wait to come back!

i didnt actually stay in the room, but i did go to the restaurants here. used the restroom and it was super clean and smells like lemon fresh. they also have sanitary items so for females that is a big thank you!!! i can see some of the balconies of the rooms and they look gorgeous.

    Smoky surveying the room.

Traveled from the SF Bay Area to Carson City on business. Lake Tahoe was calling.........I listened ! First of all, I was incredibly fortunate to speak with Jess. She was welcoming on the phone and in person. Without all the details of my somewhat complicated life (ha), I stepped into an oasis of comfort. Greeting me with a glass of wine, Jess detailed the generous amenities....easy walk to the beach, hot tub, pool, sauna, pelotons, Maggie's restaurant...and so much more. The room is amazing....every amenity so thoughtfully provided. Listening to soft jazz and enjoying the outdoor tub on my balcony....good night moon.

The most incredible hotel I have ever stayed at! I stayed at the El Dorado Townhome and it was such ana amazing experience. Upon arrival, the stay was immaculately clean and decked out with all sorts of gadgets including heated bathroom floors and fireplaces in living room and bedrooms. The staff were amazing and friendly for every situation. I even left something on the property after leaving and they were prompt in shipping my item back to me. Just a 10/10 experience. Will definitely book again!

This hotel is stunning. My husband and I stayed here for our 8 year wedding anniversary and had such an amazing time. We relaxed on the balcony and ate dinner at Maggie's. We loved the sauna and even just relaxing by in the hot tub. We had a phenomenal time and could not stop raving about how beautiful and well thought out the entire property is. The only downfall is that the breaker tripped twice in our townhome making the power in the entire unit go out while we were there which was quite annoying for the amount we paid. The first time it happened we were lucky enough to catch the front desk woman before she left for the night. The second time it happened early in the morning which we could not access the garage(where the breaker is) without the help of the front desk so we had to wait until they arrived for their shift. She did say they filed a report with maintenance to check it out so hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else. Overall we will be back this was one of the most beautiful hotels we've stayed at.

This place is a mini paradise; you have everything you need within walking distance, and if you choose not to go out you have space within the room to bring your own food and supplies as they have a full kitchen, washrooms, laundry room two patios and one with a bath outside. This place is very lovely I recommend staying here if you are looking for a lavish getaway but still right in the middle of the fun.

The most beautiful hotel, the most friendly staff I would recommend this place to anyone ever wanting to visit lake Tahoe in general I would come back every summer and stay here specifically it was that amazing. From the minute we arrive we were taken care of less than a five minute check in the front desk was so sweet they even advised that our stay comes complementary with private lake access which the hotel provides you tickets for the rooms were absolutely stunning. I was obsessed with my personal soaking tub on the balcony very spacious. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. If you are cooking, they also provide spices, which is nice. Everything was so closed and within walking distance from restaurants to Entertainment thooo Shopping, the hotel, even provides complementary bikes as an alternate form of transportation just to get around or take down to any of the trails I could go on and on about this place but it's a must experience for yourself would 100% recommend .

If Four Seasons did a motel... I booked at the Desolation Hotel after seeing the great pictures on their website, and, well: they don't do it justice! This place is stylish and modern and clean and eco-conscious and GORGEOUS! I booked one of their hotel rooms, and it was just perfect for a luxurious ski weekend! Abundant art and tchotchkes made it feel just like home. The bathroom had both a nice stall shower, and a modest but deep soaking tub. It even had heated floors! The bath amenities and towels were top-notch, and very generously supplied. While I'm on the subject of baths: there was a KILLER soaking tub out on the balcony! I loved sitting out in the cold, dark night relaxing in the steamy water. In just one of the many, many thoughtful touches throughout this room, the soaking tub even had an overhead heat lamp to warm the floor so my feet didn't get cold when stepping out into the cushy provided slippers. If you got home from the slopes soon enough, the main pool and hot tub also offered a great place to relax. There were plenty of loungers surrounded by fire pits and heat lamps, along with some low jazz that just made it a wonderful oasis. The front desk was happy to provide pool towels, and the fluffy Frette bathrobes from the room kept me warm to and from. Inside the room, there was a cool "fire tornado" feature, which also kept the room super toasty. And the kitchen had everything you could possibly need to self-cater a ski weekend (or even week)! Seriously, I was shocked at how well-appointed the kitchen was. High-tech features abound, too: The WiFi is actually fast enough to use, AND the Ethernet port at the desk was enabled and even faster. When a quick moment of work popped-up, I had no trouble dealing with even large downloads. Bedside, there were very nice wireless/MagSafe chargers for three devices per side, and multiple outlets for your own chargers. Almost all the lights were on dimmers, too, so you could easily set the perfect mood. The bed was super comfortable, with Frette linens, and plenty of pillows, including a body/throw pillow. So was the couch, with nice throws and a cozy blanket. Storage-wise, there were two closets with drawers, a luggage stand, extra hooks, and even a boot tray! All the staff are super friendly and easy to work with. The cozy lobby has coffee and tea, and small selections of sodas, beer, and other sundries and merch. (The hats are very cool!) I'll be reviewing their (excellent!) on-site restaurant, Maggie's, separately, so go check that out, too! Just a few "be aware" items: 1. The hotel does not offer daily housekeeping, and this isn't clear from their website. Not a big deal, but it was slightly surprising at this price point. 2. The hotel's front office closed at 8, so make sure you call ahead or leave an accurate arrival time at booking, if you think you'll be later. They're very happy to leave a lockbox on your door with a key, which is great! 3. End rooms like A24 have a clerestory window that faces one of the hotels "townhome" buildings. This let's in a lot of light a night, and there's not window treatment. So, you may need to stuff a couple of pillows up there to get it dark enough to sleep. 4. The mini-split AC unit near the bed can make a lot of noise when it turns on or off, or when it's vanes move. If you can get it into a stage where it is stable, however, this isn't such a problem.

Sorry to nearby guest if we were too loud. We were all just so happy to be together. The area around the lobby is beautiful, appearing newly renovated with working fire pits, a deck and pool area, bar and lobby area. If you are in a room on that side, there are plenty of amenities for you to enjoy. We were in building 7, a room across the street from the luxury of those conveniently located amenities. In absence of the amenities, it did offer quiet as there was not a lot of foot traffic or people on our side. There was a fire pit directly beneath our 2nd floor room; however, it did not work since it needs gas (per the staff). None of the fire pits on our side worked, we were later told they were for the community center by reservation. Check in was easy, the staff who assisted were pleasant and thorough. When we arrived to our room, the in person version did not look as upscale as the photos I based our booking on. The fact that there is a shared microwave should have been the biggest clue. There is no coffee maker, rather a kettle for hot water and packets of something to use. Checkout was simple as well. Amenities: The fridge was pretty spacious for being small and there were plenty of shelving for snacks. The hanging space had five hangers, which were located directly above the kettle. The toilet seat had 3 temps to warm your bottom and the water in the shower (and sink) got really hot so be careful. The mini balcony was nice to exist on and fairly quiet even with cars and people passing. The staff were friendly and have been accommodating with requests for room service. Heavenly Ski Resort was a 5-10 minute walk from this location along with a plethora of eateries and shops including Target, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Ace and other shops. All within walking distance inside the same shopping center. We will not return to Coachman Hotel for future stays. There are plenty of surrounding hotels near by. Our daughter did enjoy the balcony, the room was clean and well maintained. For us, we prefer accommodations with an actual coffee maker (as advertised), a microwave in the room and a more luxurious feel to our stay. The s'more hour was fun for our lil one to experience. Staff were exceptional so I would not discourage anyone to consider Coachman.

We typically stay at Edgewood when visiting South Lake Tahoe, but decided to try something different this time. Unfortunately, the stay got off to a rough start. We arrived around noon on Friday and were told our room was ready, even though official check-in is at 4 PM. When we went up, housekeeping was still cleaning and informed us it would be another 30 minutes. Later, the manager called to apologize and explained that we had been given the wrong room number. He asked for permission to have staff move our belongings to the correct room. While the apology was appreciated, it wasn't a great first impression and set the tone for the rest of the stay. There is no room service, despite having an onsite restaurant (Fire + Ice), which was disappointing after a long travel day. I also asked the front desk if they had honey so I could make green tea in our room and was told they didn't. For a Marriott property, that felt surprising and oddly basic. Housekeeping is not provided daily. There was no one to make the bed or tidy up during our stay. While we were told we could call if we needed anything, it still felt like a noticeable downgrade in service for a hotel at this price point. We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and the only complimentary item offered was a single homemade cookie, handed out individually. On Saturday, hot chocolate was available, but it was $5 per cup. Charging for hot water, cocoa powder, and a few marshmallows felt nickel-and-dimey, especially at a resort-style hotel. The biggest frustration, however, was the constant timeshare solicitation. Immediately after checking in, we were approached at the concierge desk and pitched a "promotion." We declined. Later that same day, we were approached again and declined once more. Then on Saturday evening at 7 PM, my personal cell phone rang with caller ID showing Marriott. It was the same person calling yet again to pitch the timeshare. While a gift card was offered, not everyone is interested in $200. Our vacation time is more valuable than sitting through a 90-minute sales presentation. After declining multiple times, the continued follow-up felt unprofessional. A clear "no" should be noted and respected. The room itself was nice. We stayed in a one-bedroom villa with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, living area, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The layout was functional for families, with two TVs and a sofa bed in the living room. However, the sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable and made sleeping difficult, especially after long days out. There was a simple welcome note in the room, but no other welcome amenity. We weren't expecting much, just a small thoughtful touch. The property does offer an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, open from 8 AM to 10 PM, which is a nice amenity for families and for unwinding after a day out. Checkout is at 10 AM, which feels early. Many comparable hotels offer at least an 11 AM checkout. In our case, by Sunday morning we were so eager to leave due to the overall experience that we checked out at 8:00 AM. We genuinely couldn't wait to go. Overall, while the location and room layout are strong, the lack of basic hospitality, repeated sales pressure, limited housekeeping, and early missteps made this stay feel more transactional than relaxing. For the price and the Marriott name, I expected a far more polished experience. We would not choose to stay here again.

Just book it, especially if you have fur babies!…read more My husband and I live in Reno and wanted to book an anniversary trip to Tahoe that we could take our senior Weimaraners. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. We want to thank everyone at The Landing for a perfect trip! We can't wait to do it again!

Everything was amazing and more than we expected! Staff was friendly and helpful! We got to check…read morein early and that was such a great start to one of our best luxury hotel stays! All the included amenities make The Landing stand out! One of our drivers, Benjamin had great energy and suggestions! Loved the free shuttle drives to everything nearby within a 2mi radius. Amazing location. Everything is within a walking distance. We had a partial lake view room with a balcony and fireplace. Our room was spacious and beds were super comfy! There's a mini fridge and Lavazza espresso machine and coffee pods. Heated bathroom floors, heated toilet seats, great shower pressure, and a bathtub with jets. Loved the touch with bath robes and slippers! They also have a rooftop bar with a direct view of the lake. One of the nights, there was a wedding and it was closed to hotel guests. The next day around 5:30pm there was live music- the duo was singing covers and taking requests. They were amazing! There was also complimentary charcuterie. Definitely a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Here are some other noteworthy amenities during our stay: Complimentary champagne from 3pm-10pm. Smores kits 6pm-10pm. Coffee, hot cocoa, tea, fresh apples in the lobby- and the best water from Tahoe. Free daily admission to the private Lakeside Beach. Heated pool and Jacuzzi. Fire pits. Even after we checked out, beach admission, parking and shuttle drives are still included for the whole day. Onsite restaurant, formerly known as Jimmy's which we didn't try. We stayed for a couple nights and wished we could stay longer. It was a stay that made us not want to leave the room and hotel! It was a perfect getaway and we can't wait to return for many more firsts together.
