Beautiful property and so convenient for families walking distance to the beach and to all the restaurants and stores you literally just park your car and can walk everywhere with the kids. The AC worked well which was a must have for me, especially in the summer. The lobby is spacious and the deck was really nice to just hang out outside. The room was small but clean. Shower was new and clean. Wall by trash can was not clean. You could see that someone must have thrown some drink in the trash and missed, splashing on the wall, but the maid never noticed it. Parking was very tight, but I have a full size long bed truck. I stayed for four nights and they never cleaned my room or made the bed. I had to go find the maid each day and ask for clean towels and I took my trash out each day. I did not have a door hanger in the room where I could request that my room be cleaned. No staff on sight for check in. They email you a code for your door. With the lack of service, I bet they do not change the combination for each guest, therefore, I have my doubts on security. I will not be staying again next year. read more

We've stayed here twice now and I'm sort of on the fence about them. Last time, early Autumn, we had a large, second floor room. Spacious but the bathroom layout was strange; a jacuzzi type tub, a small'ish shower, and the toilet in a separate "room", actually more like a tiny closet, that when you closed the door, your knees almost hit it. Weird. The fireplace didn't work, so we texted and somone came out within 15 minutes, & fixed it. The place felt very clean, and we appreciated having the kitchenette, with the small fridge. We used to stay here before it was sold/renovated; the rooms have been "updated" but honestly, pretty basic. Another reviewer mentioned Shien; I feel like its more Ikea. Sort of cute, but NOT high quality for sure. There were NO wall hooks anywhere, in the room OR the bathroom. Yes, there's a closet of course but why no hooks? Our more recent trip, we got a smaller room, I was surprised how---different it felt? Same decor, but the whole room looked Cheap. The bed was basically a fold out bed? The feet were metal folding feet, so not like a "real" bed, if that makes sense? It was comfortable so I guess I shouldn't complain.... Another small kitchenette, very clean, but mis-matched dishes & a VERY scratched table, that really makes it look -- cheap. A smaller bathroom, but they did have extra towels and again, it was clean. But, again, NO HOOKS! Anywhere!! There was snow and other than a small plastic mat to put your shoes in, there's NO other mat or rug or anything...so you pretty much have to balance yourself at the front door to get off your boots, or you're pretty much getting the floor wet. That, and not having hooks to put your jacket on, was actually rather frustrating. As I initially stated, I'm on the fence about staying here again. I love the location, I LOVE that it is "just" far enough away off the strip, a more quiet spot. I've stayed in several of these older, renovated "vintage" hotels, and I'm having a hard time finding an affordable one that I truly love. I'm old school and actually LIKE having someone ON the premises. There's something rather impersonal about this set up. I also don't like being nickle and dimed; getting texts about paying $25 extra for a late check out, I can't stand that. So, I'll be researching finding a better place, but this place will probably still be a "back up"....so we will see! read more

Had a lovely stay at The Jeffrey! The updates make it look very cute and feel modern but still cozy. Our room was nice and clean. The bed was comfy, the shower and water pressure were great with the rainfall and handheld shower head options, the kitchenette is cute, useful and stocked with a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, plates/cups, utensils, paper towels, dish soap - super handy! The check in/check out processes are contactless and straightforward. Staff is very communicative via messaging/texting which I found to be convenient and did not think it was impersonal like other reviews state. They even called me the day before check in to ask if I was going to celebrate anything and it happened to be my birthday so they left me a cute card. We thought the location was cool too - far enough that it's a little more quiet than hotels closer to Lake Tahoe Blvd. but also close enough to still walk around if you'd like. It's about a 10 min walk to Heavenly Village or to Harvey's. The bathroom is a great size, the door angle is a little awkward though but not a big deal. Storage options in the room are great! Dresser drawers, vanity drawers, and a closet. I would absolutely stay here again! read more

I booked this hotel for two nights but couldn't stay for the second because the room had no real heating. In the middle of winter in South Lake Tahoe, all they offer is a tiny wall "fireplace" that looks decorative and gives off almost no heat. It was so cold we couldn't take off our jackets. I contacted the hotel because we literally could not stay in that temperature. I asked to move rooms, and they admitted in writing that every room has the same setup with no actual heater. They didn't offer a solution until I asked if they at least had a space heater. They sent a small one that barely helped, but it was late so we tried to get through the night. I told them in writing that I would check out early and request a refund for the second night. They acknowledged this, and the next morning they confirmed my checkout and asked if I locked the door. But when Expedia contacted them, they denied that I checked out early. After being shown screenshots proving everything, the hotel changed their story and bizarrely claimed I had been "talking to AI." They still refused the refund. On top of that, the bed covers were covered in hair--human and pet hair mixed together. Not a few strands, but visibly all over the bedding. Freezing rooms, unsanitary bedding, and complete dishonesty when confronted with proof. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Wonderful 2-night stay midweek February stay at The Jeffrey Hotel located equidistant between the S.Lake Tahoe Blvd. and the beach. The website claims a 6 minute walk to the Heavenly Gondola but with carrying skis and maybe boots - this may be do-able for others. We are 60+ and used the nearby parking garage. Really clean two level hotel. The top floor rooms have more western light.There is an attendant onsite who is attentive to guests needs. Our coffee machine wasn't working and they replaced it promptly. The electric fireplace gave off enough heat and there was a substantial blanket in our closet. There is also a patio with a bbq on upper level which was covered in snow. Thanks for making our visit memorable! read more

This motel was recently bought and renovated, so the beds and linens are new, but the table and chairs were cheap and badly banged up. The rooms are small, and many are loud. We were right next to the stairs and the HVAC compressor, so we had quite a bit of noise. There are lots of cheap options in this area, and this isn't a bad one for the price, but it feels shabbier than it should after a year of use post-renovation. The bathroom is tiny and minimally equipped, so it may be worth it to pay more for a room with a hot tub. I want to mention the great housekeeping and maintenance staff - they are friendly, present, and helpful, so even though there is no one at the front desk or on the property to help with check-in or any issues, the people who ARE there are fantastic. I should mention that there is a 600 pound brown bear who lives in the drainage pipe under the driveway and comes out during the daytime to wander fearlessly along the road. She/he didn't bother us, but we were definitely surprised by her presence during our stroll to the beach at 8 am! read more

Sadly this place is a dive. Renovated? Hardly! Bed was hard, fan didn't work, pillows flat.... bathroom sink, not in the bathroom but rather in your room? ( what!) AC compressor so loud you can't sleep. Housekeeping just hanging out smoking and talking. So many areas need cleaning, deck- walkaways all filthy!! Oh and smoke detector did not have a battery in it. ( I should call the enforcement for this alone!) Located in a nice area but this place, The Beckett, The Stardust to no name a few are all dives and disgusting. Require BETTER Tahoe. Great lodge/hotel to stay at in South Lake Tahoe. It's well located near the casinos and The Village shopping with tons of restaurants, supermarkets, and of course nature within short driving distance. I booked through the website with no difficulty. The staff reached out the night before to confirm our booking and even offered us a discount to upgrade our room or extend the day. We upgraded our king suite to a premium room (with propane fireplace heater and extended kitchen space) for only $10, and it was such an amazing experience. I would highly recommend choosing the premium king suite if you have the option; the fireplace made the room cozy and beautiful. The rooms were quiet and very clean/modern for a lodge. Checking into our room digitally went smoothly. We just directly entered the code to enter our room without having to check in in-person the conventional way. The staff was even nice enough to text us during our stay to make sure the code worked and everything was going well. Overall, the service and experience was quick and wonderful. It had the efficiency of a modern AirBNB, and the rooms were nicely remodeled and clean. No complaints at all and would stay again! read more

Just stayed here for a few days over the holiday, and it wasn't great. First, it seems to be more of an Airbnb situation than an actual hotel. There was a checkout "list" and pretty much zero human contact. They have keypads on the door, so you kind of just show up and leave, which could be a good thing, but something we, even as millennials found a bit cold and impersonal. A few more specific notes: There are plenty of places to stay in this immediate area, and while not far from the main drag, it's a bit farther than we would've liked (and some other spots) from downtown, especially so in the winter. Importantly, the quality of furnishings isn't great, the room layout is strange (why is there a sink across from my bed?), and the actual room itself was very drabby and messy in places. Also, the walls are paper thin (oh yes, we definitely heard the people next to us having loud sex our first night!), and you can hear everything going on outside, up to and including the minimally supervised children doing sprints on the second-floor walkway outside our room. The provided TV is also a problem, as it's a Roku TV, but you need to painstakingly log in to any apps you already have (Netflix, etc.) to watch anything, and they don't even have basic cable. Finally, the bathroom in our room wasn't heated, which was a big problem in the middle of the night (and in the middle of winter). Overall, there are a TON of spots to stay in this area of town of varying quality and price, and I'm sure we can find a better spot next time. We won't be staying here again. read more

We can't believe the reviews for The Jeffrey are as high as they are here. The Jeffrey is probably one of the three to five worst hotels we have stayed in out of 500. The "contactless" check-in meant that we downloaded the required Jeffrey Hotel app, which did not work well. When we arrived, we noticed that none of the sidewalks and pathways had been cleared by staff, despite the lack of new snow in the last one to two days. The battery for the cheap residential-grade electronic lock barely worked, so it took us more than five minutes get into the room. Inside, there was no smoke detector. There were redundant warnings about service dogs being prohibited without prior written permission (in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act). No locking deadbolt or safety latch was installed, so any staff member, or member of the public with an entry code, could enter the room at anytime. There was no routine or emergency customer service available at any time during our Jeffrey stay. We checked out early in the morning, but as a parting grace we received Jeffrey Hotel text admonishments throughout the next day warning us to revisit the Jeffrey Hotel app to avoid being charged for another day's stay. read more

We gave this "hotel"??? a 1 star because it was clean. It has a contactless check-in because it is still in COVID mode. You receive a text with your room and entry code. There is no lobby, no ice machine, no vending machine, no water, no brochure to show where to eat or what's around. Not user friendly if you've never been to Lake Tahoe! There is not one live person on the grounds. We arrived after driving all day to a warm, muggy room. The air conditioner did not turn on and the ceiling fan turned on, but we couldn't turn off the fan lights while the fan was on. We had to phone the " concierge" to get help. By the time someone called back, fortunately we found a reset button on the air conditioner by luck. They were going to have to send out a maintenance man to get it working. We found our way into the town to get a bite to eat. Everything was fine and quiet until we were awoken at 2:00 am from the room above us. Someone STOMPED back and forth for 45 minutes. We are still trying to figure out how someone could walk around this small room for 45 minutes straight! We finally went back to sleep until we were again awoken at 7:00am and the STOMPING began that went on for over an hour. A exhausting night!!! We called the "concierge" once again to ask him for a refund for our 4 night stay or a room on the top floor. They had another room for us and allowed us to leave a day early. The only positive experience from The Jeffrey. When we returned at the end of the day, we found our room was not cleaned. We never saw the sign to hang on the door that said to make up our room on one side and do not disturb on the other. (Most hotels nowadays only have do not disturb on both sides) It was tucked away on a corner table. We called again to ask for more towels for the next day. The beds were hard and the pillows harder! Thankfully, we always travel with our own pillows. The distance to town was a little farther than we wanted, but walkable. If you come back after dark, there is very little lighting outside. Can be dangerous with the uneven sidewalks and streets. If we go back to Lake Tahoe, we would rather pay more and have a nicer hotel with a restaurant, a lobby, and closer to town. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

If you want to stay in a hotel that appears to be furnished by Shein, this is the place for you! This place is the cheapest renovated/furnished hotel room that we've stayed at in Tahoe. Some notable details- - The bed is hard as a rock, has only three flat pillows, and sways anytime you climb in it or turn over. - Not sure what the hand soap was, but it wasn't soap. Strong smell, didn't lather, immediately dried our hands out- we think it could have been a cleaning product maybe. - Bathroom light didn't work until my boyfriend smacked it a few times. Also, there's no fan. - All the furniture is cheaply made and extremely lightweight, on the verge of falling/sliding. Also covered in marks and chips. - Walls/ceiling are extremely thin. We could very loudly hear the people above us talking/walking late into the night. - Weird stains on the ceiling. - The heater worked poorly, and would kick on the ac, even when it was turned off. - The smoke detector didn't appear to be on. If you're looking for a cheap place to stay in Tahoe, you can find places for a better deal than this place, that are higher quality and ensure a more comfortable stay. It appears they just quickly did a cheap paint job and covered up the floors with cheap laminate, and then filled the room with plastic furniture and decorations. The location is convenient, but we've found there's far better hotels in this specific area. Save your money. read more

I booked this hotel because of the good reviews and how esthetically pleasing the rooms seemed. The contact less check in and no front desk didn't bother me too much when I decided to book this place. I wanted a room with a fireplace and was assigned a "handicap" room because it had a fireplace. I am not sure if this being a handicap room is the reasons I felt our room was not accommodating to our needs. We had very minimal clothing storage room. Two small bedside tables with a small stand up dressed with one small drawer underneath. I figured I could just hang my clothes since I did have to pack pretty heavy for the uncertainty of the weather, however there were only 4 hangers. I called to request another drawer and some hangers and my request couldn't be completed. The fireplace didn't heat up the room and we had to request an electric heater. Our toilet didn't have a toilet seat, our shower head was on side of shower instead of directly over shower, the water would seep out of the tile area and all over the restroom floor, instead of a door we had a wooden sliding barn door while beautiful not conventional as it didn't sit right on railing and there was gaps between the door and the wall. There was no privacy as you would see through the sides and hear all sounds, my husband and I would have to put on our AirPods to give the other some privacy when in the bathroom (perhaps due to it being a handicap room) the walls are thin as well as I could hear the guest to one side of us children yelling and running around for hours in the late night. In addition, I accidentally booked an extra day for our hotel stay in comparison to our flight and 3 days in advance I called to let know I would be checking out a day earlier. Considering it was 72 hours in advance I was expecting a refund or at least partial refund but all I was offered was a credit that would expire in 6 months. The odds of me coming to Lake Tahoe in the next 6 months are slim to none and after the experience we had doubtfully would I stay at The Jeffrey Hotel again. The location is great, and all the staff were friendly and I appreciate their kindness but I was unhappy with our stay as it didn't fulfill our basic daily needs. read more
