Each fall, this family returns from their travels and lays their accumulated goods out in a big barn for us Ottawans -- for a very limited time. I've been coming for five or six years and, while the merch isn't always that different from year to year, I always find stuff to covet and take home. Particularly the beautiful dishes and sweet earrings. I get a big kick out of the international assortment of Christmas decor, too. Flying Santas? Santas with chicken feet? Yes please. This place gets jam-packed, so go early or suffer the crowds. Also, bring cash! There are stands set up outside where you can sit and eat Thai food or bring home cider, apples, and fresh pies (which I've totally passed off as my own in the past. Don't tell.)

I didn't even know the name of this particular material, but I found a pic of what I needed. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by a friendly staff member who pointed me in the right direction. The person I needed to speak with was with another customer. I was offered a chair while I waited. Once served, she knew exactly what I needed. Brought the roll of material out, measured, cut it, wrote up the invoice. At the cash, the person that initially greeted me punched in the numbers and processed my payment. And then, what happened, will keep me coming back to this store every time I need more material. SHE THANKED ME FOR MY PATIENCE. All businesses need to take note of this. This is how customer service should be.

I don't recall if they had knits or not. Warning to people under 5'7": you may have trouble reaching fabric on the top shelf in their fashion fabric area. EIther bring a tall friend or be prepared to wait for a shop assistant to help you out. When I went (4 Feb 2013) they were having a 50% off everything sale (with selected bolts at 80% off!) so if you're lucky you'll get there during a sale.

Let's start with the more standard stuff: High quality hoodies, sweaters, t-shirts, hats, mugs, bags, keychains, cards, and lanyards (to name a few) ... most bright red, emblazoned with maple leaves and other famous Canadian locales placed front-and-center. Then there's plenty in French and things that may specifically appeal to the French and French-Canadian. My personal fave is the whole section (with shirts, books, etc.) dedicated to the famed Astérix et Obélix cartoon -- a staple in French humor since the late 1950s. And, of course, the thing that sets this gift shop apart is all the books, bags, t-shirts, posters, jewelry, blankets, scarves, shawls, plush toys, keychains, magnets, boxes, ties, totes, carvings, ornaments, brooches, journals, etc., specifically related to the Museum's exhibits past and present. I can't stress it enough how exceptional a place this is if you want a book on all facets of Canadian history ... both publications by the Museum itself and those seminal works on Canadian history and life. As well, no store I've been to in Canada compares when it comes to carvings, totems, and other items related to the Inuit and First Nations. We loved that it's a local store and we try to support local in our purchases whenever possible. They have a variety of furniture on the floor as well as decor of all kinds. The team at Blueprint Home was absolutely great! Karrie and Kim were very knowledgeable and helpful when we explained to them what we were looking for. We could tell that they are passionate about what they do and actually care about providing excellent service to their clients. We ended up buying a Lind leather couch and love seat for a good deal. We ordered them in July and we were expecting to receive them at the end of November, but the shipment arrived early November instead. It was a pleasant surprise! The white glove delivery experience was amazing and we're very content with our overall experience with Blueprint Home. We're planning on going back to get more furniture and decor there in the future. We highly recommend them!

Yesterday i went to return an item. I was told the returns was down as the person dealing with this…read morewas not in. I asked to see the manager to discuss this further and upon the manager arriving I got the exact same response. I asked the manager whether I was able to able to exchange the product for another item and if there are able to manually write down the item for which i had a receipt for and was still declined. When the manager noticed my frustration, in-order to get rid of me I was told to please go ahead and make a complaint if i was not happy about the service. Me personally being in the customer service business I definitely though this was highly un-professional and that this situation could have been dealt with better or for CT to have a back-up plan in place.

If you are looking for minimalist, basic, neutral colors (think zara baby, h&m baby and baby gap), you probably wont find that vibe here. Most of the items have some sort of slogan or saying on it like "mom is the best," or some kind of cartoon, or cats...for some reason, all the clothes had cat cartoons in them, lol. They do have a great sale rack, where you can find items from $2.99+, which is an awesome deal..now, if only I liked the clothes. They do also carry little trinkets like finger puppets at the cash, porcelain piggy banks, as well as some skip hop branded items. I'm addressing my disappointing experience shopping on their website. I am a tea lover and love…read morecollecting limited edition tins as welll. The website shown a lavenderish pink tin but when I ordered two of them, it came in white regular Sloan tins. The store should update the photo of the item, instead of misleading the online customers into buying and thinking that's what they'll get. I get this feeling that the store purposely do this in order to get rid of their last stock. Because after I bought the two tins, the item is now out of stock. I might be wrong, but if that's what it is, what a shame way of doing the little business that seems proud of their way giving back to community. Before I made my order, I knew this is a little store and I read their return policy. I write to the store regarding this issue, but I never get any reply. I don't think a simple apologize is too much to ask. Is this because your online customer less important than your local customers? Is it because this issue too small to deal with? I had much better experience shopping from much smaller stores and their professionalism is top notch compared to this. As customers, we shouldn't get less treatment regardless the item/the amount we buy. I'm very disappointed!!! I don't recommend shopping online from this store.
