I was pleasantly surprised at how fair the cost was and what really set them apart was they advised me on issues I didn't even realize I needed to consider, then handled everything quickly and perfectly. In retrospect that was a real game changer for my peace of mind.

I had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience with Nausbaum Law, particularly with…read morelawyer Iqra, whose handling of my matter can only be described as grossly incompetent and professionally unacceptable. Over the course of three months and a payment of $5,000, all I received from Iqra was a single letter and a draft letter--both of which were entirely inadequate. The draft letter, shockingly sent after I had formally terminated her services, was nothing more than a copy-paste of my own emails, using my exact words and even referring to me in the first person as "I." Despite this blatant lack of legal work, I was still charged for the draft, further underscoring the lack of ethics and professionalism in how this matter was handled. Throughout our engagement, Iqra provided little to no actual legal advice. I often had to escalate concerns to her supervising lawyer just to get any response from her. She would routinely promise to provide documents or updates by certain deadlines, only for weeks to pass without any follow-up whatsoever. This left me constantly chasing her for answers on what should have been a relatively straightforward matter. Even more concerning was the fact that, after I fired her due to this pattern of unresponsiveness and ineffectiveness, she sent me a biased and unprofessional email that clearly sided with the opposing party--despite being my legal representative. I was then billed approximately $300 for her time writing this email after I had terminated the engagement. That charge, in my view, is completely fraudulent. The billing practices overall were highly questionable. I was charged for absurd items like emails simply stating she would call me at a certain time (calls that never happened), with no explanation or value delivered. Meanwhile, real work was nonexistent. After months of poor service, Iqra ultimately claimed that there was no relevant case law applicable to my situation. This was later proven false after consulting a different law firm, which not only confirmed that my case had legal standing, but also agreed that it had been very poorly handled by Nausbaum Law. To add insult to injury, I continue to receive random bills from Iqra for unexplained charges, despite having already paid $5,000 for virtually nothing in return. Her supervising lawyer did offer a discount if I stayed with the firm under a new lawyer--an implicit acknowledgment that my case had not been handled appropriately. In summary: Iqra was not only unresponsive and unprofessional, but wholly ineffective as counsel. Nausbaum Law's oversight and billing practices raise serious red flags. I would strongly caution anyone considering this firm to look elsewhere.

I contacted lawyers around and accidentally messaged this firm, which the other party had already reached out two days before. So they couldn't have represented me anyways if I were to fill out their form fully to verify but they had my name. What turned me off was the initial email. The other party and I received the same email to fill the form to book an initial consultation and confirm that there is no conflict of interest (as in they did not talk to the other party already). However, my email added an extra sentence in red, "Please note the consultation will be $99 + hst to be paid at the time of booking." It was contrary to their website of free initial consult. Why I get charged an extra fee is beyond me, while the other party didn't. I emailed back and asked them why I had the additional fee and what determined this. I also volunteered the info that the other party had already contacted them. They didn't offer an explanation but told me they couldn't help because they had already talked to the other party. I can't comment on the quality of service since I didn't use them. However, I was not fond of how the initial consultation fees are vastly different ($99 vs free). Is there a bias? I don't know. I encourage all to review lawyers to get a better sense of the quality and communication of service.

My experience was also with the Barrie office. A female lawyer. My file opened in Nov 2018 and I said that I wanted the process to be handled quickly. It has been nearly 4 years and I have only had the case conference and that is after approx $35K. I have too much to write on a review board however I will state that the final straw was when they asked for $3400 for a disclosure meeting with the office of the childrens lawyer. I said that I would be attending on my on (they could read the report later) and they would not agree to my wishes. They said it was unconditional. This was the third disclosure meeting. I had 2 OCL meetings previously and they provided no value with their attendance. They sat in and offered no useful advice which. They also raised my rates without telling me. They made many mistakes. One of them would have cost me nearly $10K in my financial disclosure. Slow to respond, just trying to milk their clients and truly made the process more difficult. If I could give zero stars I would.
