The staff were incredibly nice and kind, except for only a few of them were unkind and unprofessional. Another thing is that this place also needs a bunch of fire alarm upgrades in fire alarms, added in classrooms and other areas that need coverage. Some of the fire alarms are so outdated and old that they need to be replaced with voice evac and speaker strobes as well as an alarm on one of the residential units doesn't even work that should also be replaced as well as the alarms in the nursing building because they don't even work at all or go off no horns or strobe lights work on it and that should be replaced ASAP as well. This place should really care about safety as their number one priority as well as rude and unprofessional staff being fired terminated or put on administrative leave and replaced with new staff, they also need to be retrained and need to learn how to be professional with students and not use inappropriate or unkind language. The school could definitely use more PA speakers because some of them are broken and the life skills building doesn't have any as well as some classrooms and rooms are missing American flags in the classrooms. Those also need to be installed because they're missing which is bad because they do the pledge of allegiance and there's no flag to stand to so really what's the point when there's no flag it just doesn't feel right! They also should add a lower school part to the school as well and add new additions to the school building or just knock down the old school building because it's so old another weird and stupid thing is that the newer animal care center that was built doesn't have any fire alarm equipment like fire alarm horn strobes, pull stations, smoke detectors, or heat detectors. Those should've been installed when it was built. And they should be added for coverage because if there's a fire drill, no one's gonna know if there's a drill or if there's a real fire smoke alarms aren't gonna cut it because they aren't ADA compliant UL listed! read more

A nice school. No complaints. My son has attended for many years and enjoys the staff.

I was attending the devereux school which was known as the devereux foundation from 1996 until 1999. All I can say is the whole time I was there if there was ever times that I had to be physically restrained or disciplined because I was being not even unsafe towards other people but unsaved towards myself I remember those days like it was yesterday I constantly got physically abused to the point that now I'm almost 40 years old and I suffer from panic attacks and extreme PTSD and also suffered a back injury from restraint being improperly performed. all these staff that cry wolf that their safety was in Jeopardy in this that and whatever I have seen staff assault us kids back then when we were children probably between the age of 13 and 16 somewhere in that bracket I was constantly physically and verbally abused. The only bright side is that I got my high school credits when I started to mature as a teenager and as a young man as an adult also then I was granted my high school diploma and I started working with the maintenance department. Everybody knew me at devereux they used to call me Morty because my name was Brian Morton I did everything from cutting grass to landscaping to fixing equipment they would just send me on a job on the ground by myself for the day with no supervision because they knew that I could work alone and they could just tell me what to do and I would do it I was on devereux payroll and everything so not only did I complete my high school diploma but I also got some job training as well that was the bright side to it but otherwise the years probably a year and a half or two years before I got my high school diploma I was constantly abused like I said more physically than verbally but was physically and emotionally and also mentally I would never recommend any parent having to put their child there because it is full of staff that don't care there are a few that actually do care about the welfare of the kids that go to devereux and actually care about their well-being but most of the staff were muscleheadz steroid heads jocks whatever you want to call them and they thought all the time that it would be fun to beat up on younger kids that are smaller than them especially they have this restraint called a seated restraint this supposed to slip your legs but if they can't get youdown they literally pick you up like five or six feet off the ground and slam you on your back and put their feet against the wall so your legs are open and your face is touching the ground that is classified as abuse and that's not the way you're supposed to be restrained if you have to be restrained that's all I have to say place is not a good place for children read more

Horrible company to work for.. No holiday pay EVER! not a safe place to work out.. To many gaps in safety protocols for back up and transitioning kids.. Been any cases of bed bugs. No raises unless they have extra money after their fiscal year...tons of people show up late for work and get away with it a lot... Half the staff r so incompetent... I can go on and on.. Oh and the pay you receive is a joke for the stress of the job and your safety being at risk sometimes. read more
