Best of the Best of the Best I did some research on the photographers in my area who had a Groupon--each had good reviews but one thing that really set Devon apart for me was his website which not only highlighted his work but also gave some excellent tips to getting great pictures. To me, that was someone who wanted to share his vision, not just selling photographs. So I called up Devon and scheduled an appointment for myself and my two teen daughters. When I told him we would be in Renaissance costumes, he was enthusiastic and his excitement was infectious. We met him at the park for our 45-minute session and not only was he a bundle of excitement, but his energy rubbed off on us as we anticipated what new shot he would come up with. All told, we were there over 2 hours, the park he chose was a fantastic backdrop and it was THE event of our Thanksgiving week that we kept talking about--what a joyous time we had. Devon is very personable and likable. We felt comfortable from moment one. Our costuming tends to stand out and photographers usually enjoy seeing them, but Devon made our time so much fun. That I wasn't expecting. But, in the end, it really comes down to the pictures and, I must say, they were utterly astounding. The shots were incredible. I don't mean good, I don't mean well set up, I mean incredible. We ended up spending far more than we had planned simply because the pictures really were that wonderful. I was thinking we would have 10-15 pictures on a CD to choose from. We had 39 and it was brutally difficult to leave any behind. Every year, around Christmastime, we have our portraits taken. We have done Olan Mills (ugh!), JC Penny's (mediocre), Picture People (good) but we have now found the photographer we will return to next year. Bravo Devon. I cannot thank you enough. My parents have expressed to us of having a family photo session for like over a year, but my sister and I just never had the time to all meet up during the day. I guess it really does take a professional to get all four of us together, haha. Initially, there was a lot of doubt in choosing a photographer between us, and we were a TINY bit skeptical when we stumbled upon Devon VP and his perfect 5-star reputation on yelp, google, and facebook. I mean, how does anyone manage to have a perfect 5-star, right? Well, he definitely proved that he is more than 5 stars worth of time and service. We got a 45-minute session with him and he is incredible! He made us all very comfortable, helping us with posing, where to stand, and how to position ourselves so that our pictures turn out the best they could be. His knowledge in the location, where to stand depending time of day, the intensity of sunlight, etc., were all exquisite. Like, he wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty as he will get on the ground, do the splits, whatever it takes to get the perfect angle and lighting for our pictures. He's also very personable! Super nice and funny to get everyone smiling genuinely! I have not seen my dad smile like the way he did in the pictures in a VERY long time. Devon knows that for many of us, being in front of the camera isn't second nature, but he definitely broke the ice and had us all smiling and looking super duper cute! All in all, he's VERY patient, super funny, all the while very professional. You can tell he loves photography and working with people. And let me just point out, your pictures WILL come out amazing. While they're not cheap (I would say they are comparable to other professional photography prints), his prints are of super high quality and you will get more than what you paid for! We received a photo session with Devon as a baby shower gift, so we had no idea what to expect. When I called to make the appointment he was very informative. (3) He will make sure you get a product that you are happy with. When my husband and I hired Devon for our wedding, we went crazy on Pintrest with endless possibilities. Devon was more than happy to try and get every single shot we liked. Best of all, he had actually studied our Pintrest board ahead of time and was prepared the day of our wedding. (4) He is so easy to work with. Taking professional pictures can be daunting and nerve wrecking, but about after 5 minutes after meeting Devon you will be laughing and feeling comfortable (5) Lastly, and perhaps the reason why I think this guy is so great, Devon loves what he does. I really mean LOVES what he does, perhaps more than anything else. I have never met anymore more passionate about his trade than he is.
