Dave and Florence were amazing! They were punctual, funny, and well prepared. We decided to do a mini session at Snow Creek Park with our kids and dogs, and it was not easy. Getting two young kids and two hyper dogs to look at the same time and smile as well was a great feat. However, Dave and Florence were so patient, and they had all the goodies to get their attentions. My 2 year old was not cooperative during most of the shoot, so I was pretty worried every photo would be of him crying or pouting. I called them to get some initial info and Florence and I kept in touch via text to finalize the booking. They were very accommodating with my requests and adapting the session to what my family was looking for. My family had an AMAZING experience at the session - Florence set up the beautiful props and helped with the posing and fixing my hair/grad sash. Dave was very funny, friendly to work with, and very knowledgeable about how to pose. Both my grandparents were 80+ years old and Dave/Florence was very patient and helped us find the best positions. Dave and Florence handle my baby very professional and I couldn't ask for better service. I didn't know that most places would do newborn within 1-2 weeks old. My baby is one month old. Florence said it's not going to be a problem. I was very thankful that she made me feel very comfortable in the studio. The pictures came out great and they also do in house calls but we decided to go to their studios since they have all the props and lighting. Still 5 stars! I wish I could attach every single wedding photo (married June 2024), but I just posted a few to show indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, and some different styles. He is able to do whatever kind of photography you are looking for! He is also very funny and has a great eye for color! He captures those candid-non-posed moments really well. He can do different styles with lighting (light and airy, and also more dramatic with shadows etc.) I am just posting different kinds of photos to show variety, but definitely if you are looking for a certain style--he can do that! Most of ours were that natural, non-posed, light/airy style because I like that best, but wanted to show some different kinds to peak your interest. I know wedding photography is one of the biggest decisions you are making, but you will not find a higher quality photographer in the area for Dave's price range! Best decision we made! I booked their holiday mini-photo session online for $280. You are required to put a $50 deposit upon booking. The session lasted 30 minutes and we didn't feel rushed. There was plenty of time to take photos for our family of four including individual shots. By the time I booked online, all of the close-by outdoor sessions were taken. I ended up booking an indoor session and I don't regret it one bit! The indoor Christmas scene was classy and modern. The studio decorations matched the colors of our outfits perfectly. We reached out to Dave to be our photographer for our civil ceremony based on high praises from a work friend. Me and my husband (then fiancé) were initially a bit skeptical since I'm super awkward with public display of affection, and my husband can be impatient and hates having pictures taken. We found Dave Yip Photography through a local neighborhood Facebook group and we're so happy we found them. He was advertising specials for family Christmas photos and we were looking to do some for a while, so we couldn't pass up his amazing offer. If you check out his Facebook webpage, it seems like he's done previous deals like this in the past, but as he gets more popular, I hope he continues to do these since they seem to be getting more busy. Anyway, we met at Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea (he had several locations to choose from) and met with Dave and his wife, Florence. Both were incredibly friendly and very easy to work with. It seemed that the area where we took the photos was popular among other professional photographers since there were other families also taking their pictures there, but it wasn't crowded in anyway. Having done photos in the past for our engagement and wedding, I really enjoyed working with Dave and Florence. They were incredibly easy to communicate with and were always responsive to our questions/requests. For example, when we got our retouched photos, we asked that they not soften the photos as much, and Florence immediately replied with our requests. In fact, whenever she said she would give us something, it was always on time. It might be at 12am that night, but if she says she's going to give it to you on a certain day, she's going to give it to you on that day. Anyway, I'm very happy using Dave and Florence for our photo needs and look forward to using them again. Since Dave didn't move to the US too long ago (a few years ago I think), and he seems like he might be trying to establish his US presence since he's been a photographer at his home country for many years, it's probably a good idea to book him now rather than later before he gets too popular!
