What a fantastic community space and outdoor recreation center! Totally makes winter in Minnesota…read moreeven better. I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out. Can't wait for next ski season!

The building is a perfect space for bringing a large group together for games, chatting, eating, and sledding on the snowy hills just outside the doors. They used to serve hot food, but they no longer have that option. The food was not consistent or anything all that special, but it was a nice option. This time we brought Thanksgiving leftovers and some breakfast bagel sandwiches. The space is well maintained and clean. It is spacious and has lots of room for young kids to run around and not be a disturbance. Always look forward to coming here.

I'm not sure where to start with Staybridge. My check-in experience was a 1 star interaction,…read morewhich reflected a staff member who was not the friendliest or most helpful person I've encountered. That being said the rest of the staff I chatted with across a 10+ day stay were all very friendly. The accommodations were sufficient, and it felt like covid precautions were in place. The breakfast was reasonably robust for covid-times but evening social hours had been cancelled. The biggest hang up I had about Staybridge is how outdated it felt. It seems as though the hotel rooms had not been renovated since the late 90s or early 2000s. Finally, even though the room was generally clean, I wiped down the air vents, and the cloths were quite dirty. Aspects of this stay were not great, it overall it was a satisfactory stay.

The trip began with a less than great check-in experience in which it seemed like we were inconveniencing the front desk staff; there lacked any semblance of communication, proactiveness, or assistance. Beyond that, most working were generally pleasant, helpful, and friendly. When we got to our room, it was not thoroughly cleaned, so we requested a new one and that one really wasn't either. Nonetheless, we got settled, and there was just an overall feeling that the hotel was the great place to stay in perhaps the 80s. Everything from the furniture to the style to the accents felt very outdated and old, and the rooms badly need a fresh update. Those feelings never subsided throughout our stay. Kudos to them for a solid breakfast, particularly in COVID times when so many hotels have really been less than part; however, I was disappointed that they did not have their evening social hour/gathering. If you can do breakfast, you can do that as well. Further, I know for long stays, housekeeping does not visit your room every day, but it is important to stock the rooms for those long stays so we don't have to go down every day to get trash bags, towels, and the such.
