While I normally steer clear of "souvenir shops" as the merchandise is usually just junk, this one was different as they carried a wide range of jade and paua ( the pearlized shells) made into costime jewelery that was of the same caliber as other shops in town, but with a more reasonable price. Service was spot on, too, as the woman helping me went out of her way to find me just the piece I was looking for. She also was helpful to convert my US ring size to the sizing they use here. It may not be for everyone, but I was able to get a couple of things at a reasonable price to take back home with me. And that was exactly what I was looking for!

Don't…read moreget me wrong, there's a fine line between a souvenir shop and a tourist trap, but Global Culture stands far above the other nearby touristy-junk shops in their quality and design. It's the NZ-themed sweatshirts that pulled me in, but I walked out with three pillowcases, a tea towel and an apron. If you're looking for a gift to bring home, skip the stereotypical Starbucks mug and head here. You'll pay a bit more, but you'll get some beautifully NZ-designed, high quality items. Just know that it'll be tough not to grab one for yourself while you're at it!

I had seen the green stone in several stores along our journeys in NZ and found some unique rings here. I like that I could bring out the ring trays and try them on as they had many different shapes and colors. The woman working there was just the cutest and most helpful. She was wearing many pieces of the jewelry in the store and made it look so appealing. I opted for a larger green stone ring and I'm so happy with my purchase. So glad we happened to bop in.

I had checked their Instagram out and loved the styles! When we arrived, the staff member had stepped out so we had to return ~20 minutes later to be let in. Upon entering, the shop was much smaller than I'd expected. The shop items were very cute, with cool designs and great options. I just wish there was more! There were probably 5-6 womens styles of shirts and hoodies, 6-8 mens styles, and a few hats. I would have loved to see more variety in colors and design: some I loved the design and not the color, and vice versa. They do offer one small changing room with a curtain, but with many people in a small space, a line starts to form fast. I ended up trying a hoodie on just in the store and guessed on the shirt. I ended up getting a soft t-shirt and SUPER soft hoodie for myself and a corduroy bucket hat for my brother. I had a bit of sticker shock at the register: these prices are not cheap! I had gotten accustomed to the NZ dollar pricing, but these were especially high. I will say, they are not skimping on the quality of materials! Service was a bit short and not as friendly as we'd found throughout NZ - they seemed a little annoyed by customer questions. But overall, a great spot for souvenirs you won't find at other shops! PS - there's a ROAM shop in Te Anau that is much bigger and great variety / changing rooms / customer service!

Everywhere is clean and there are many alleyways and shortcuts that takes you to discover new places. It's definitely touristy, and a little pricey. Though, if you need some normal groceries and water, I highly recommend 4 Squares Supermarket. We also went to Fergburger, Flame Bar & Grill, Aotea Gifts, took the TSS Earnslaw, and Erik's Fish and Chips. Overall, a nice place to roam around, especially with the beautiful Lake Wakatipu as a background. There are excellent restaurants and stores to eat and get souvenirs.

Holidays can be so busy moving from place to place sight seeing, so this awesome shop near the heart of the very gorgeous Queenstown was just the time out to chillax that I needed. The staff there were so very helpful in aiding me to put together some little creations I was inspired to make for gifts for the family...... Perfect !
