I ended up with a lot more…read morestuff to move than originally estimated and the only way I could get the ramp on the trailer was to put it in front of the bulkhead to hold all your stuff stable. I was packed tight to the ceiling and right to the back so I left a hole and put the ramp on first. On the first page it says not to do that but I didn't want Upack not to get the ramp back. But here's the deal, the ramp stays local and somebody else actually comes out to pick it up, not the guys moving your stuff. So, lesson learned, if you can't get it in the truck leave it on the ground next to the trailer. I tried calling but it was Sunday and nobody was available even at corporate. They agreed, it would be nice to have that clarity in bold on the front of the contract. On Monday, I already made the seven hour trip to my new location and called UPack to tell them the trailer was ready to be picked up with the ramp in front of the bulk head. Oh oh. It was going to cost me $1000 for a new ramp or go back and take it off. Upack said they couldn't, due to liability reasons. C'mon man. I did a work around and called the locals who were going to pick up the loaded trailer. They were nice enough to take it into town to their facility, undo the bulk head, take off the ramp and put the bulkhead back in at no extra charge. BIG relief. Sometimes common sense is still alive and well. Thanks to the local crew in Watertown, SD!!! Trailer delivered on time and as promised at both origin and destination. Picked up as scheduled as well with no hassle.

Unfortunately, a stone console table, even though it was well wrapped, broke during the move. These things can happen. Where the company fell down on the job was regarding customer service. I immediately informed them of the damaged item and even sent the original invoice for its purchase to substantiate the value of the piece. After many phone calls and emails, there was never any resolution from the person in charge of residential moves. I now have a broken table top and no recourse from Schaap Moving and Storage. The cost of replacement would not be an expense to the company since I purchased insurance so I don't understand the reluctance on the part of the moving company to make this right. What a shame that a company that could have gotten a stellar review showed that it really doesn't care about its clients!
