There are numerous amateur car washes that have popped up everywhere, which is great for us motorists because it means the prices are always competitive. Brilliant hand car wash is only £2.50 for a thorough clean of your car. They jet wash it all over first to soften tough dirt, spray a special spray on the tyres and then scrub it all over by hand before washing it down. I usually stand and observe them cleaning, which tends to ensure they do a good job! It can get busy but they have a large forecourt so there's plenty of space to park and wait.

From what I've seen they always do a very good service, they are fast and the prices seem pretty reasonable ranging from £3 for a basic wash to £40 for a full valet. Once my band had a gig in a rented van. when we came back from the show we had one seriously dirty van and we had 30 minutes to deliver it back to the rental place. The guys at The Wash were able to get it spick and span on time and save our butts.

A wash starts at £4 and a valet from £5. I think this is decent value and they do a good job. It's always so much nicer having someone else clean your car than track back and forth with buckets or cover yourself with the hosepipe, rather than the car. The other bonus for these guys is their location. Next to a lovely newsagent and cafe and relatively quiet as you need to know about these guys, rather than passing them on your usual journey.

If your coming down Constitution towards town, its on your right and you have to do a bit of a U-turn to get into it. There's four pumps and it gets really busy at rush hour through the traffic. I've only filled up here a few times, mostly when its an emergency. This is because one time they made me pay before I filled up, which I hated. I know it's perfectly within their right to do this, but there no sign telling me and I was just shouted at over the tannoy. There's a very little shop inside selling the essentials, though I'd avoid that if I were you. I brought milk here once and it was off even though it said it was within date. A car wash had also just opened here as well. I don't know exactly how it works as the fore-core is slightly small and it narrows at one end. It's quite cheap though, it says that currently (June 2015) it's £2.50 for a wash, which is not too bad at all.

The owner is a cheery fellow and he manages a tightly run car washing ship where you get great service for £5.00. He enquires about your day and always invites you to inspect the end results. Two people will scrub and polish your vehicle to shining perfection and they will even open the car doors and clean the indoor sills. Tyres are black walled and you even get an optional spritz of air freshener. ALL FOR A FIVER! A minor criticism is that the forecourt is quite small and can only fit two cars at a time. It is a popular little place, so this sometime causes queuing.
