Chill neighborhood bar that's not pretentious and has a good happy hour. Bartenders are generally pretty friendly. I liked the old fashioned but honestly all the cocktails are pretty good. This place makes awesome cocktails in a space that promises an intimate night out. It's decorated in a charm I can only describe as "Victorian library meets garden party". There's warm wood accents and dangling vines illuminated in soft, low light. I shared a booth with my date as we sipped on our drinks and enjoyed the evening. Space is limited so you may have to be patient before snagging a seat but in my opinion, it's worth the wait. I'm excited to return! read more

All of that was stomped and killed by the bartender blasting an entire Killers album at full freaking blast at 4:30 pm on a Thursday afternoon so loud we had to shout to hear each other. It's non descriptive from the outside which makes stepping inside feel even more like the Narnia of bars. The wallpaper is textured and sponge painted a deep green, while the lighting dances on the treated ceiling. The bar is long and backed by a helpful bartender with a patient smile. Rather than stacks of liquor bottles behind the bartender hangs a long beautiful painting that made me reconsider my own art collection. THIS is my kind of spot. This spot hits on all the notes you expect when hitting up a bar in this part of Brooklyn. Great mix of good prices, delicious bites and a rock'n wine, cocktail and beer list. A friend brought us here and I am ashamed that I wasn't the first to find this lil gem.. There's a great selection of small bites on the menu that are a great compliment to the vibe. I would rate Diamond Lil four and a half stars. Super neighborhood bar. They got outdoor seating out front, plenty of indoor seating, plus a handful of tables in their courtyard. Most of the seating is quite intimate as a majority of the tables seats two to four patrons. They have great restrooms which are spacious, have nice soap, and pleasant smelling candles. The have a small but varied selection of beers, wines, and spirits. I had a glass of cotes du Rhone and then high west American prairie bourbon. The bartender was very quick. read more

Came here for a birthday in 2016 and met Yo, who was awesome that night. Since then I've moved down the street, gotten married, and covid happened yet Diamond Lil's remains the same. Drinks are fantastic from the Mother's Milk to the Paloma to the Painkiller. The decor is something out of a 1960's Mad Men cocktail bar only without the smoke and womanizing. The bartenders definitely take pride in their work here and it shows. Ordered: Georgetown lassi- a very tasty grown-up version of the mango lassi I love to order at Indian restaurants. This one has a touch of cardamom, coconut milk for creaminess, fresh mango purée (you can taste the difference!) along with spiced rum. AS someone who is rarely in Greenpoint, I was very happy to stumble upon this little gem of a bar. I was out with a group of friends on a Friday night, and we anted to end the night with one more drink. We were all very happy when we arrived at Diamond Li. I would describe Diamond Li as a lush but laid back cocktail bar. Royal green wall paper, velvet booths and stools, a long bar, and gold accents, this bar is classy without being pretentious. Even though we were a group of five, we were able to snag a booth in the back. There are about 17 cocktails to choose from, along with a wine and beer list. All of there cocktails are $13 and they designed the menu so that the cocktails are categorized for easy picking. I decided to get the Captain's Grog, with three different rums, Orgeat, Curaco, Maple, Falernum, Grapefruit and Lime. It was delicious and refreshing. It helped that it was served in a tiki glass with crushed ice. I also got to try to Georgetown Lassi, with Mango puree (fresh and muddles at the bar), coconut mil, spices tum, port and cardamom. This drink was delicious and I would say dangerous since you will want to drink this one fast and have another before it even hits you. read more

Green wallpaper, ceiling tiles, and plush booths lining the long wall. They have a long row of bar seating as well- enough seating to accommodate the crowd, at least for now! A cool, lively crowd had formed by 7/7:30 and just continued to pick up! They have happy hour 5-8 M-F which is the next big draw. $5 rose on tap, beer and a selection of $8 cocktails- including an Old Fashion and a delicious Daiquiri which seemed the obvious choice for a hot summer evening- Served in a chilled glass and totally refreshing! Diamond Lil is an embarrassment to well adjusted, self-respecting Greenpointers. The stereotypical, contrived apathy of hypervigilant, self-conscious Brooklyn hipsterism is on such full display here it almost feels like satire. The physical space itself is charming, but for many people it will feel as if they've accidentally walked into the wrong apartment. Bring smelling salts to rouse the bartenders; I was blanked by 3 out of 3. Not even a hello. One guy eventually took our drink order bc we sat at the bar and since it was decidedly uncrowded, he couldn't possibly ignore the two of us for too long. Devoid of any affect whatsoever he glumly made our drinks. Then we were completely ignored for about an hour. Upon requesting the check, a different bartender chose to make his very first snarky words a provocation. His first acknowledgment of our presence, sitting just feet from him for an hour, was intended to challenge and belittle. It was so shocking I can't help but to think we (or one of us anyway) were being mistaken for someone he actually hated. I pretended like I didn't understand and even tipped this jerk. I'll never forgive myself for it. I love living here. I have for a long time. And I can even appreciate the expediency of an artificially aloof, too cool to show interest in anything, Greenpoint 30 something hipster. But this guy took it too far to the point of deliberate abuse. Never again Diamond Lil. read more

So maybe we should focus more on curtailing your hobby of hurling rocks at squirrels in McGolrick Park and less on your Dad's memory lapses!
