Inside was spacious and clean. They were offering free cooked food. Pizza, fried chicken, tenders, brisket, sausage, breakfast items, all day. I went around 5pm so items were limited. I tried the brisket, sausage, and wedges. It was hot and fresh. The only thing missing was some bbq on the brisket. My daughter had the tenders and wedges. Her tenders were hot, crispy, and seasoned. Definitely more flavor than Cane's. They have a large liquor selection. I even saw 1/2 Gallon blue bell ice cream. Getting in and out might be a little hectic with the traffic. Never less, I appreciate that I can get items without crossing the tracks. I think this store will do well in this area despite the traffic.

I think the people are nice but the gas pumps themselves always make me go into a rage. The buttons…read morenever work so I'm just endlessly pressing things and having to go back back-and-forth inside so that they can just cancel the sale and I go somewhere else. Today I quit while I was only wasting three minutes so far but last week I was going between inside and outside three different times I only go here when I'm desperate and when I do come here, it sucks every single time never fails. Then you think oh maybe it's just this pump I'll go to another one. Nope same thing. Nothing works.

This Chevron station is very convenient if you are in downtown Baton Rouge. To my knowledge it is…read morethe only station in the area which is why I often find myself here. Other than the convenient location, there is not much good to say about it. My most recent stop here involved a quest for liquid refreshment. I had been to this station many times for fuel, but this may have been my first stop inside the store. From the outside the store is not very appealing. The windows and doors are covered in bars. That level of security led me to believe that they were expecting trouble and that put my guard up. Inside the store is very small and cramped. Luckily I was the only customer or navigating would have been difficult. I did get a very weird feeling from the cashier as he stared at me throughout my entire shopping experience. I guess I looked like some sort of degenerate shoplifter since I hadn't shaved all weekend, so I understand his apprehension when I walked in. After finding what I needed I paid and left. Besides the inhospitable store, the pumps are not easy to navigate. There are only a few pumps and someone pulling up to the store is likely to block one entire set of pumps. If the pumps aren't blocked you're OK, but on almost all of my visits I have had to turn on the side street and enter from there as opposed to entering from Government Street. If you are in the downtown BR area, this may be your only option. I suggest waiting till you leave the area, but if you absolutely must stop here, now you know what to expect.

As usual, Walgreens comes through with the most terrible customer service ever. This is a fairly…read morenew location in Plaquemine and they are no exemption from the terrible service rule. The wait inside is a minimum of 20 minutes, does not matter if you are the only person there or one other person. You WILL be there 20 minutes minimum. This time we tried out the drive through. Because the last few times, they seem to focus more on the drive through. We came through and sat here for 10 minutes driving forward and backwards to try and get someone's attention. We finally noticed there is a button you press, we pressed it and someone said they will be with us shortly. 10 minutes pass, nothing. We press the button again & immediately someone answered with an attitude " just on minute there are customers at the front". If there are customers in there, what about the customers out here? You can put money on it, that you WILL have an issue at any Walgreens literally ever.

Spillway is quickly becoming one of my favorite sporting good stores in the area. What looks like a…read moresmallish store from the street seems to go on and on once you're inside, and any fisherman, hunter or sport shooter will find something that they need here. I've never had a problem with the people in the store; they all seem to enjoy outdoors sports and have been plenty knowledgeable for my needs. I'll happily keep going back.
