I had to give a review of this store, because it is one of my favorite places to shop!! I've purchased so many items here, from Nike shoes, to Nike apparel,; hoodies, shorts, leggings, tees, sports bras, socks., Fanny pack, back pack, head bands & UnderArmor gear as well as Fresno State gear and accessories. I recently purchased my son some Nike Air Force1, he usually buys online, but I like to go into a actual store lol. I wasn't able to find these anywhere else in Fresno! The customer service here is excellent and if you sign up for points rewards, you earn $10 off with every $300 you spend, and that's easy to do here lol. read more

Needed to get socks. Wanted Nike black short socks. Mine have holes in them from wearing so much! Great music right when you walk in. Masks worn by workers and required. I was greeted by a nice worker who was happy to help and show me where the socks are located right when I walked in. They have a large selection of socks in different brands. Got my Nike short socks. Of course looked around too. They have tons of great stuff. When I went to checkout Nate, the same guy that greeted me checked me out. Very kind and easy to talk to. Wished a good day too! I went to this store to buy some snow boots. As I walked into the very organized store someone said hello welcome to Dick's. That was all the help I received in the store. As I walked around they had a vast variety of sporting goods and large colorful signs to show you where to go. But there are so many selections in the store and so many corners and different displays that a person like me would have definitely needed some help. I finally made it to the shoe section and the selection for snowboots was very small not sure if it was because of the season and high demand because they just really don't carry them. There were three associates in the front of the store who stood there and engage in a conversation and throughout the whole huge entire big store there was no one else to assist I did not see another associate in the entire store except for the cash register the door and the table adjacent to the cash register. I truly would have liked to give you this nice store a good review but I'm all about customer service in addition to products and price though. read more

Would not allow me to return a dysfunctional product 1 day after purchase. Awesome stuff

I've never had a good experience at any of their locations, but this one has me so agitated that I'll take the time to review. We walked in and were promptly greeted with a smile. And from there it went downhill. We were looking for the women's snow clothing. I left my husband and son with the fishing gear and wandered over to the womens section. I found the ONE RACK of snow pants AND jackets. Mostly men's pants....I'm confused now. I could have sworn I walked to the womens section. Found another rack near the golf stuff...mostly men's and a few 2XL+ pants. I went looking for my boys to get some help, considering I hadn't seen one employee since the cashier that greeted us. I audibly complained to my husband about how unorganized the womens section was and how irritated I had become by the fact that I was unable to spot an employee. As I'm doing so, I see what I assumed was a customer glance over at me. I took the pair of pants I had in hand over to the fitting room to try them on. Low and behold, no employee around to open up the room! Shocker. So I pushed the help button and impatiently waited for an employee. Guess who walks over! The same gal that heard me complaining about being unable to get help! She arrives, I ask her to check if they have a different size on hand, she checks and tells me they don't. I them have to prompt her to check nearby stores. She checks and tells me no one has them but they can order them for me and ship to my house at no extra charge....no can do I need them in 2 days. We left, with me being super annoyed. I proceeded to try and track those same pants down somewhere online, hopefully that I could pick up tomorrow. Low and behold, another store locally HAS THEM in the size I asked her to look for. I I called the other location and an employee tracked them down and put them on hold for me. I then had hubby call to get the gals name that "helped me" and no one would give the info over the phone. I can not stand a lazy employee with horrible customer service. Just find a desk or warehouse job if you don't want to deal with the general public. read more

This is the second time using curbside pickups. Last time I checked in by using website and someone brought my order. Today I checked in put my car info was waiting for 10 minutes. Well I was supposed to drive up by front door tell them my last name. No one told me. If changed how to pick up need let customer know. read more

Very large well laid out store with a huge selection of sports items. You can find anything you could every think of in there and more. The prices are on the higher side but that is offset by the use of a coupon which you can find online. The store is somewhat under staffed but they are very knowledgeable and friendly. I always enjoy shopping here and like to look around even if I'm not going to buy. read more

If you are unfamiliar with Dicks' layout, good luck finding what you want and need here. If you want to be totally ignored by teenage employees shouting across aisles at each other about their social lives while trying way too hard to pretend like they're street thugs, and saying " Yo dawg" a lot, then you will just ADORE this Dicks location. Otherwise, stick with Sports Authority, Big 5, or just about any other store. The two stars are for the only two pleasant employees with some act right in the entire place, the cashier, and a random employee with a crossbow who chatted me up a bit while I waited in line. After my first and only trip in the place since they opened, I definitely wont go back unless they're practically giving away an item I need for free. Of course they'll probably close first if they don't hurry and hire some mature customer oriented people who want to provide good service. read more

This store reminds me of a large, over-priced, Big 5. Very disappointing for backpacking gear. I walked through the whole store before finding the fuel canisters and they had only two options, MSR IsoPro and small Jetboil canisters. I didn't see a single canister stove for sale. I did see a large gun department. If you are looking for a cheap tent or other gear for camping out of your car you might find a good price here. For the size of the store, the selection of items was very lacking. Customer service was lame. No one talked to me until I got to the checkout. I'm 37 and the clerk asked to see my ID because I was purchasing a couple of small gas canisters. Seriously, you know I'm over 18 and you're asking me for my ID to buy something that I've never had to show ID anywhere to buy. That really irks me. If you want to make sure kids aren't buying something dangerous, fine. Don't annoy your customers who are obviously of age. Probably never going back to this chain... read more

Here's why I'm even bothering to write this review - I got color drunk at Modesto's Dick's (or as i told the mister, "i got dicked up!" bahahaha...ok this is gonna get filtered/blocked) & in my excitement of trying on the most excellent pair of bright blue running tights, I walked away with the wrong size. Gah! Within minutes of realizing this, the honey was on the phone w/ the Fresno location explaining my stupid mistake. No problem, the girl on the phone says. A minute or two later, she took our contact info, & put the tights on 48 hour hold. The whole process was smooth & i have no complaints. The counter service was great. I ended up buying another pair of pants (damn i i knew better than to wander...) but god help you if you needed a live body to help you. I had to go to the front greeter guy to ask my question. Also, the selection here is smaller compared to Modesto's, but larger when compared to other places we have in this area, so i cant really knock them for that. read more

Way better than Sports Authority, BIG 5, and other sports retail in this area. Period. The deals they offer are to die for. Every sunday they have ads in the local paper and in the store with killer clearance items that are name brand. Prices just can't be beat. Selection is incredible- golfing, outdoor, and shoes are really impressive. I come here a lot to window shop and just look around. When I really wanna splurge, I buy a lot of things here and I ALWAYS feel like I made out like a bandit. read more

From the ads I thought this place would be all about team sports so I almost didn't come in. I'm glad I did, they have a huge outdoors section. They have just about everything you could need in the way of camping, hiking, and other general outdoor activities equipment, I came in here a few months back looking for soccer stuff for my girls, and ended up drooling all over their backpacks and tents and stuff for like, half an hour. Customer service wise they are about equal to Big five, but they are way bigger. read more

A few weeks ago we went to Dick's Sporting Goods on Shaw, Fresno, CA. We found an Elliptical exercise unit that we wanted to buy but they didn't have one in stock. The manager ordered one and delivery and setup for us, took our $1,000.00 and and from then on they washed their hands of us. We were told it would be delivered on Nov. 14. A week later we got a phone call from the set up crew that the unit was coming on Nov. 11. We had some travel plans on that day but we changed them, which cost us some money, and waited on Nov. 11 and the set up crew arrived on time but there was no unit to set up! The set up guys called DIck's and they said that they didn't have it. Now I was told that the unit would be sent from the headquarters to Dick's and then Dick's would deliver it. It cost me a double delivery charge. Dick's didn't have it and didn't know where it was. The set up crew left. I called Dick's and talked to the manager who couldn't care less. She told me to call the headquarters and give them the order number. I did. Headquarters said that the order number that was e-mailed to me from Dick's was incorrect. There were not enough numbers and the order number had to start with a 1 not a 2. So, what should I do? They had no answer. They said that the unit was with their web office. Good. Could I call the web office? No. They said they would send an e-mail with my information and I would get a phone call. That was a week ago. So, I called the store again and they basically told me that there was nothing they could do. I called headquarters and they said they couldn't help me anymore. What help???? If you deal with Dick's then you must not have any other sporting goods store in your city. Sloppy. Unprofessional. Could care less attitude. read more

This is by far the establishment that employs the rudest employees. They are so busy talking to each other you have to interrupt them to get help. All of them bunched up and not separated in different sections so I do a walk around to try to find the bowling section and I am unsuccessfully so I stopped an employee who seemed to be annoyed and asked her if they have a bowling section and her response was I don't think we do. So I said you don't think or you don't and she says if we do it would be by fishing supplies and then walked away. I checked and nothing there so I left and not one employee said a single word to me just kept chatting as they stood there. Wow, I looked at the review that JC wrote and thought it was my own except I didn't make it to the golf section. I stood at the gun counter area for about 20 min. The customer who had been waiting in front of me walked out. I finally went to a girl in the shoe area and asked if she could get someone to get a gun case down off the shelf for me, that the gun counter guys were too busy. She made a call and I waited about 10 minutes and the guy at the gun counter looked up and asked if I need the gun case. I said yes and he said just a minute and answered a phone call. As he was on the phone two other employees were busy socializing at the gun counter and flat ignored me. The guy got off the phone and started to talk to the other two store guys. I left the gun section, put my other merchandise back and left. I too will shop elsewhere. read more

I went to the new Dick's in Clovis to purchase a rifle. It was on sale and nobody else in town would match the price so I said "what the hell," and went down. The guy behind the counter was really nice and efficient. I knew what I wanted, but he seemed like the kind of guy that would have helped either way. I filled out my paperwork real fast (not being the first time ive done it), and he signed it off and then called the manager. The manager then came over to double check the paper work and we were done. Ten days pass and two hours pass, I go back ready to pick up my new pew pew and the manager comes back (has to to release all guns) and informs me that at Dicks, there is an 11 day waiting period. I laughed at the guy and said, ok, but the law is ten, I'm here now, let me take my weapon and go home. He said he couldn't because it was Dicks policy. Now my chilli is boiling a bit. I told him where on the tag did it say there was an 11 day waiting period? He said that it doesn't say that. He asked why I didnt ask about the waiting period to which I replied I had gone through this process enough to know all the rules and even showed up two hours later than my receipt said just to make sure both parties were safe. He gave a half hearted apology and walked away. The guy behind the counter apologized for not informing me, and I told him it was ok. I was more stewed with the manager who could also have reminded me when I was filling out my paperwork. So I go in and pick up the rifle the next day and told the manager that he should bring up printing a pick up date and time on the receipts so future customers don't wind up like me, and never buy a gun from them again. He didn't seemed like he cared, maybe he's anti gun, who knows. BEST PART. Two weeks later I get a call from an unknown number. I pick up, its the manager from Dicks telling me that my paperwork has an error on it and that I needed to come back to the store. I asked if I needed to bring the rifle as well, he said no, so off I went....again.....across town..... I get there and one of the letters in the application form wasnt clear (which he didnt catch the first time) so I had to change it, and then initial and date and time it, which is protocol for these types of errors. The manager then asks me if I could date and time my correction for the day I picked up my weapon, which would be back dating it two weeks. I had a huge grin on my face when informing it was against my morals to lie and forge a date and time on a government document. They may have cheap prices. But, they aren't that much less for all the headache and an extra day wait. More importantly, the attitude of the manager was downright rude. Not to mention he has no problem asking you to break the law forging a federal document. Sad place. read more

False advertising. Since we do not live in town, it is a 30 mile round tri for us to go to Dicks in Clovis, Calif. Over the course of this year we have deliberately gone to his store because of the ad they put out on Sunday. Each and every time we have left empty handed since the item they advertised is Gone, Not there, or was never delivered, according to an employee. This time we asked for a rain check and was told we could not have one. When we stated that it was the law to give a rain check for advertised items they argued with us. Rain Checks California law requires retailers who advertise discounts or product specials to have enough products available to meet the expected demand or to provide a substitute product of comparable value at the advertised price. If only limited quantities of advertised specials are to be made available, or if the advertised product will not be available at all store locations, the retailer must disclose that information in its advertising. Sometimes consumer demand is greater than a retail advertiser could have reasonably anticipated and the company runs out of the advertised product and cannot substitute a product of comparable value. Although not generally required by state law, some retailers will issue rain checks (promising to provide the goods at the advertised price in the future) in order to preserve good customer relations. However, rain checks are not an adequate substitute for a shortage of the advertised goods. So Dicks, We won't be giving you our business.:(( read more

I just went into this location to purchase some shoes for son but they didn't have any in his size besides the display set which wasn't my issue . My issue is the cashier Rochelle, this is girl was literally tossing the product I had purchased And in my opinion you don't just throw some thing new a customer just bought . When I asked to speak to a manger all she did was say " Monica , when you get a chance come to the front ". Instead of saying I'm having a customer issue please come to the front and I'm sure the manager would of be there quickly. ( mind you Monica never came to the front ) . Review on gun department, they have lots of sales and do have good prices on guns. The customer service is terrible, these guys don't know a thing about guns, don't know gun laws and it takes 2 of them sometimes 3 to fill out the paperwork to make the gun sale. After a recent sale I was called back after one month because the paperwork was not complete and no safety demo had been done. The guy at the counter told me thanks for coming in they wouldn't want me to get in trouble. Way over priced on most things however; they have good sales and good customer service. Sometimes though the people aren't knowledgable in their area of responsibility. They are friendly though and go out of their way to find the answer for you and if you take the survey on your receipt you get a coupon that you can print and use so when I want to buy something I will go in a few days ahead of time and buy something that is very cheap and then process the receipt and use it for the larger item later! They are well stocked in clothing but technical items are lacking sometimes. Matt at the gun counter is prior military and very knowledgable. He has been putting up with me and my skeet gun research now for three or four months. He answers my questions and is always happy to let me see whatever gun I request. I called the store to see if they had a specific item in stock and got Josh in the outdoor section. He was super helpful and polite with my request. He took my name and number to place something on hold until I could come in and said if he finds the item is no longer there he would call back. I had a special request for shipping and although it wouldn't arrive on time he offered other suggestions which was a huge help. 10 minutes after we hung up he called back to apologize that what I wanted was no longer in the store. Every time I've gone on here it's always clean and well kept. I don't ever see a lot of employees on the floor ...maybe that's due to it being slow... Seriously not very happy with this store I spent 1hr just looking for a pair of shoes because the boxes of shoes are everywhere and not organized. When I found a person to help me out he just told me that that is all they have and I just have to look through the whole shoe section to find my size. He also told me that I should just order them on line that he doesn't know y people go to the store if they don't have anything and don't know what they get shipped in until they get it.
