Yes... my name is Tanis and I play Tennis. Oh man, summer was a ripe time for plays on my name. The…read moretennis one came up a lot as did "Tanis is tan" and "Tan is Tanis". One of the ways I got so tan during the summers was by playing tennis outdoors. Also, swimming, playing water polo, and working outdoors. So the summers, especially the years I took part in Innis Arden Tennis, were full of consistent plays on my name. Honestly I didn't mind it one bit, it added to the overall experience. I participated in the beginner to intermediate lessons/session(s) and did not partake in tournaments/matches between tennis clubs. For me playing tennis here was more social than competitive and a fun way to pass time during the day in the summers when my parents were at work. Those of us in the lessons tended to coordinate what session to take during the summer so we were guaranteed having at least one or two friends in the class. It was also fun to meet new people and see who signed up for the same session as us. Coaches/instructors vary and I had good ones. The tennis courts are well maintained and one of my favorite aspects of practice was picking up the tennis balls after running out or low during different drills. And then there were the times I'd hit a ball over the fence surrounding the courts into a tree, those ones could be a pain to find. At the end of the year there was a banquet for those who took part in tennis during the summer and different awards and participation items were handed out. My first year it was a trophy for a participation item, later it switched to t-shirts. I loved getting t-shirts and other attire for the sports I participated in, that formed the bulk of my wardrobe for a good many years growing up and into college. Tennis courts are located next to the Innis Arden Clubhouse and pool which was nice when racing from swim practice to tennis practice and needing to minimize travel time.
