The place is really nice, clean and so bright, and it was full of happy kids with their families. As Italian, what I immediately noticed was the perfect queue: if you enter in a traditional Italian gelateria, everyone is in front of the servery (or whatever it is called) choosing and looking at the gelato varieties. Instead, reading the flavour and picking them from that distance for me is difficult :). Anyway, I tried pistachio and lemon, but nothing special for what I'm used to. I personally don't like when you, as a customer, could not taste a sample in a gelateria of what you'll pay for. That said, I don't mean that someone has to taste everything... Lastly, doesn't really matter the size of the cups or the ice-cream cone, because the gelato balls are similar and small for a final gelato not even so generous.. I'll give 3 stars, because I am.

I tried their vanilla (a little custard-y instead of vanilla bean-y, but not totally like the grocery store cheap stuff) and citron (a little intense but also not too much) on a nice old-fashioned cone, and I'm sure they will be packed once it starts being warm outside. My husband prefers their vanilla and stracciatella ice cream over all others because they use real vanilla beans instead of vanilla extract. It's not the best ice cream I've ever had, but it is pretty good. And they have tables and chairs and lots of room inside, so it will be a great place to hide out from the sun in the summer.

The wafer cookies and cones are fresh and crispy, which is a bonus. My husband is a detractor and claims they use vanilla extract instead of real vanilla beans like the Ijs Molen does. He also thinks they use a lower quality of chocolate than the Ijs Molen in their stracciatella ice cream. There is a little table for children, and a chalk board with chalk and high chairs, so it's about as kid-friendly as you can get. It's not a big store so there's only seating for 3-4 families inside and another 2 outside on the sidewalk, but if you can get a table it's pretty sweet. They also serve a variety of beverages, from coffee and tea to a bunch of weird sodas, so between that, the ice cream, and the Wall of Chocolate staring at you opposite the seating area, there is always something new to try.

The Hazelnut tastes like the finest nuts were blended right in front of you. There were CHUNKS of it throughout. Off to an amazing start.
