Very top notch office! Very clean, and Sarah Horbach PA-C, and Drs. Razavi and Dr. Spiegel, who were on my care team are very warm and friendly. I see Sarah for office visits, who is amazing, although I formerly was a patient of Stephanie Deem, PA-C until she resigned in 2023. Drs. Razavi and Dr. Spiegel performed my outpatient diagnostic endoscopies at Reading Hospital on 2 separate occasions, and fellow docs Dr. Shogbesan and Dr. Farrell assisted and performed the procedures. I received excellent care here, as they took good care of me. Sarah also has excellent bedside manner and provides good advice. Doesn't rush through visits, and she is very thorough with physical exams and ordering tests. However, checkout is slow as this is a very busy office. read more

My appointment with Dr. Gordon was the worst experience I have ever had as a patient. My experience was the epitome of women's concerns and pain and not taken seriously in today's healthcare system. I tried to advocate for myself as the visit went on however he doubled down minimizing the symptoms I was describing and dismissing my concerns. It was to the point that I didn't want to return for a follow up visiting thinking maybe this all was in my head. During our visit he mentioned at least three times that he is a "board certified gastroenterologist." He should be embarrassed by the way he flaunts his education without providing the bare minimum in patient care. I have since seen a different provider in the practice who was wonderful- she listened and gave all my concerns careful consideration and validated how I was feeling. I will never go back to see Dr. Gordon and I will continue to encourage any family member or person I encounter to avoid him. read more

They tell me they don't do that till the day of the procedure or the day after. So now what do I do, if that person can't take me and stay with me, because they refuse to fill out his paperwork ? read more

Dr Rai was 50+ mins late and did not even physically touch me during the visit. Furthermore, I was reprimanded for expressing my displeasure so this office DOES NOT take constructive criticism. DO NOT pay your co-pay with cash!! Front desk staff never gave me a receipt at time of my visit- she informed me that I would receive a receipt when I was finished registering on the iPad. I returned the iPad when finished, she was with another patient, I was then called back for my visit before her window was empty again. I have been receiving bills for my co-pay. I notified the office and the front desk attendant that handled my call was extremely rude basically telling me that I was a liar. She informed me that they could look back on the security footage- great! She told me that unfortunately they only store for 30 days. I asked for the office manager to return a call to me but never did. I have been a patient at this facility for over 10yrs and never had an outstanding bill. My husband just came in here this morning for two procedures. Everything was set up through my health insurance , and never in my life have I dealt with anyone as rude as the alleged manager whose name is rita. She made him feel like he was doing things wrong, she had an attitude from the get-go and she spoke to my insurance rep as if she was above everyone. He is in having the procedure now and I certainly hope the care he receives is better than what she must consider acceptable customer service. I would lose my job if I spoke to people the way she did , and rightly so. I like to imagine that everyone has a bad day, but when you come at a patient who is already nervous with that type of attitude, you need to be checked and put in your place. It really is a shame when a practice with otherwiseamazing reviews has to be represented by someone with no empathy or courtesy. Do better, bottom line. read more

You'll never see the same doctor more than twice. And each doctor has their own "opinion" about the best course of treatment which will be totally against your previous visit. They will "try to contact you multiple times," which means they call and cover their mic to sound garbled or just hang up as soon as you answer. There's a "receptionist" who will get verbally abusive if you don't answer her immediately, and don't ask her a question, or you'll get an epic eyeroll. I've been a patient at this practice for 10 yrs. I have been diagnosed with Severe Crohns Disease. No matter how I'll I get I can not get an appointment with my Physician. I have gone 18 months with no appointments available. I have been in the hospital and needed a follow up appt. NONE AVAILABLE. I have changed Drs within the practice. Nothing changes. I actually give them minus 5 stars. I have never been more disgusted with a doctor's office in my life. I was having abdominal pain since July and it kept getting worse. My PCP sent 3 urgent requests I never got a call from them to schedule. I called them and finally she found the urgent request that had been there for a week. Finally I got an appointment and saw the doctor who told me what it could be but he would have to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy to rule out other things. He had no concern for the pain I was having every day. I didn't want pain meds I wanted help. He just seemed indifferent. They scheduled the procedure but not until the end of October. It kept getting worse so I went to the ER. The doctor told me to get the procedure done sooner. I called and was given a hard time about moving it up. I told them I didn't care what doctor did it. They did move it up finally. Again they didn't care about me. The results ruled out everything bad. That doctor told me it was what the other doctor thought too. It's something easily treatable. I called for a follow up appointment and was told I couldn't get an appointment before January or February. I asked to see the doctor who did the procedure but he isn't taking new patients. I told her about the pain and she said there was nothing she could do. I called back and spoke to the nurse. She took all the information and said she would get a message to the doctor and call me back. 3 days later she called. I told her how I had never felt so uncared for. I told her none of the people I had dealt with was compassionate or cared at all about me or what I was going through. I told her I was never going back to that practice ever. All she said was that's your option. Ten minutes later I got a call from the doctor who informed me he was taking time from other things to talk to me. I told him exactly how I felt too. He offered no treatment or help. He said I needed to schedule an appointment. I told him I would be seeing another doctor. These people are the worst. They just don't care. They know they have a monopoly in this area so people must see them. It sucks. They have way too many patients. There needs to be more GI doctors in the area. She said she always runs behind. I explained that I stopped coming there years ago because they are always behind. Even on ck outs. They did not care I had another appointment. They did not tell me she was running behind. What a waist of my time. Yet they want to charge a no show fee. Unprofessional. Don't waist your time. At age 75, with a near-fatal stroke 3 years ago, caused by ibuprofen, I require 100% from surgeons and their practices, 100% of the time. Dr. Elbaum provides the unusual degree of perfection I now require, and I appreciate it. Doctor Elbaum was recommended to me by my wife, following his assistance during surgery when my wife had an ulcer perforate while I was lying minimally conscious in Acute Stroke Rehab at Spring Ridge (stroke is a scary thing). I don't know how my 10 day coma affected my wife of 52 years... I was in a coma. But life goes on, still, stroke survivors need especially good care; my Sweetheart of 58 years is largely responsible for me having love of life and the persistence to get stronger every day. Yes I was treated like a number, I was NOT given correct information! I was given three options for a colonoscopy that could not be done. One was barium X-ray, which I already had, not pleasant but fast. Then I was given an option of a virtual colonoscopy in Allentown as reading does not do them. The prep was much worse than the normal prep. was nauseous and glad the sink was by the toilet, dry heaves. I was told the scan was NON INVASIVE, When I got there I was given wrong information, or not given any info. I thought I was going for pictures, scan, turns out it is like the colonoscopy, they insert a bulb and fill you with air! So much for non invasive! I asked the girls why I was not told this at Digestive Diseases, they told me they don't tell you as no one would get it done. a patient has a right to know and not be told incorrectly! The barium X-ray was much quicker and not near as uncomfortable When I had the colonoscopy in May, and it was aborted they should have gotten me an appointment to go over to reading hospital for a barium X-ray while I was cleaned out, THAT is what the dr did 6 years ago! The physician I had, had no interest in doing that for me so I wouldn't have to go through another prep! We in Berks County are forced to use digestive Diseases or go out of the county! We are held hostage to this disorganized, group that has no compassion for a human being! read more

Patient care could be so much better. I've been here for two different complaints 5 years apart. Both times the doctor seeing me was rude and didn't listen to my concerns. Especially this last time, she would sigh and roll her eyes. The two people who performed my different scopes (the one 5 years ago and the one just on Monday) were so nice to me and the nurses that helped out on that end were super nice. This practice sent one of their physicians to treat me at Reading Hospital. He was very good. However their billing practices are disgraceful. My bill was paid accordingly but their billing department provided inaccurate directions on how to pay the bill online and then they misapplied the money. With the assistance of my mother I have called several times for months with no resolution. My Mom was generous in paying the bill for me now she is being punished by having to call this practice with me regularly to hear the same lame explanation as to why my account is still showing a balance. I do not recommend this practice and I will walk out of the ER before any of their doctors treat me unless they hire new billing staff. I will continue to file complaints until this is resolved! read more

this place is horrible!!!! took my daughter there to see Abby. what a waste she is!!! told my kid to take benefiber and an antacid. they then did an abdominal ultrasound on my child. i had to call 5 times to get the results of the ultrasound since nobody called me!! then they say they want to do an endoscopy. i agree and they tell me they will have Abby put the order in and call me in a few days to schedule. i waited 3 weeks with no call. i call them and low and behold Abby didn't put the order in!!! finally get the endoscopy set up and these idiots call me the day before telling me my insurance denied the procedure. i called my insurance and shockingly digestive health didn't send my insurance everything they needed to approve the procedure. everybody that works here must be a complete dipshit and have their heads up their asses because nobody does anything to help anybody!!! i reported them to the state of PA and will continue to do so!!! this practice should he shut down and everybody that works here should be fired!!! you all suck!!! read more

Dr. Elbaum is a caring, courteous, and professional doctor. He both listens to your concerns and involves you in the treatment of your diagnosis. He also puts you at ease, which makes the whole visit that much easier, and less of a dreadful event, which a visit to a Specialist can often tend to be. I highly recommend him to anyone. read more

Incompetent schedulers, horrible customer service My wife was scheduled with Digestive Disease Associates for a colonoscopy to be performed on a Wednesday morning by a doctor who'd treated her before. On the Monday before the procedure, we hadn't heard from them. Instead we realized they'd sent a confirmation text the week before (we don't even remember giving them her cell number). We immediately called to confirm the appointment. After waiting on hold, we were told that her appointment had been delayed three weeks and moved to the afternoon with another doctor! When asked what was going on, they said that my wife had told them (on the day of the text) that she needed to re-schedule. She never spoke to them! They insisted that their scheduler had talked to her and provided a phone number that isn't even close to any associated with us. We're assuming that the scheduler had talked to someone else and cancelled my wife's appointment by mistake. To me, the obvious solution would have been to look up the number they had and figure out who really cancelled. Then they could have moved the patient that took my wife's appointment into that slot and re-instated the original schedule. Instead, the just shrugged their shoulders and kept pretending that we'd asked for the change. The best they could suggest, if we wanted the same doctor, was to either "work in" for an afternoon appointment, or else wait two months. I left a message with the manager of scheduling to discuss the situation, but the call was never returned. At this point, we've lost all faith in DDA and are looking for another provider. I'm also calling my insurance company to make sure they don't get billed for DDA's screw-up. Customer service is all about fixing things when something goes wrong. By that measure DDA is a complete failure! NOTE: We received a call a week later confirming that they cancelled the wrong appointment (worthless at this point). Still no call back from the scheduling manager. read more

I wish I could give a lower rating. Digestive Disease was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Elbaum was blatantly arrogant and ignored all the unusual symptoms I had. He missed stage two cancer during a colonoscopy that was actually quite evident. Unfortunately they are "the only game in town" and I need to go out of the area to see a specialist because I will never go back to this place or see these doctors. The only good thing that came out of seeing them was the fact that Elbaums gross incompetence caused me to see a general surgeon who caught the cancer before it was too late. I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was informed that the scheduler would talk to the supervisor and get back in touch with me and never heard back from her! I just had a procedure done at the digestive diseases in Wyomissing! This is the finest staff I have ever met of caring wonderful people they go out of their way to make sure that your experience is as good as possible! After my procedure I was described a medication that my insurance company would not cover they're wonderful expert got right on it to try to get it approved she was unsuccessful they say they don't pay for this medication! So she went out of her way to get an alternative for me that would not cost me as much money! Dr. Aparna Mele has the worst "bedside manner" of any doc I have ever seen. She entered the room with an attitude of superiority and her condescending, cursory behavior was truly a disappointment. It seems from the moment she entered the room her intent was to belittle me and any other direction I received in the past from other physicians. She was very good at building herself up and excellent at displaying her inflated ego. I came away from the appointment feeling sorry for her and the type of person she presents to be. Welcome to the world of Obamacare! This practice is nothing but a production line. My doctor referred me to this group for my 10 year colonoscopy. When I called I expected to receive an appointment to see a doctor to review my medical history. Instead, they wanted to review my history over the phone and quickly schedule me for the procedure during the call. When I inquired about seeing a doctor before hand, she told me that they don't do that anymore. Needless to say I cancelled and scheduled a visit with my previous doctor, Dr Carlson, who insists on seeing any of his patients before the procedure. read more
