Been comin here for over 2 years. The doctors are great. Dr. Abraham is the best. Location is convenient and had parking. After having some stomach problems for years, I am not really feeling a lot better. He pays attention to your needs and really takes care of you. Nurses don't listen to you. I said I was struggling with the medicine prescribed by a previous doctor and said it wasn't very helpful in my symptoms and asked if I should continue taking it. She told the doctor I stopped taking it. That's NOT what I said. The same nurse didn't list all the allergies I told her in that visit. I asked the office to note the allergy because I had an upcoming procedure. The front desk asked me if I was telling them to notify my PCP and I said no I was telling them so they don't give me meds I'm allergic to under my procedure with THEM. I asked if what they were giving me before the procedure would be effective because I had issues with similar medications and they said it would be effective. Sure enough, it wasn't and I had to call the on call doctor at 2 am for advice due to a horrible reaction (which my other doctor said was an allergy in hindsight) The administrative staff was very snarky when I asked for an authorization for my procedure. They asked me to pay a hefty amount of money for the procedure. They said I would be refunded the remaining amount afterwards. Then sent me 3 different bills where my original payment was not applied like I discussed. I asked for clarification on this with an office manager who conveniently was in a meeting every time I called regardless of the time of day. When the finally called back she said she had no idea about the 3 bills but then told me what I owe. I asked how she came to that conclusion she said to add the 3 bills together and I that the total did not equal to what she said. She started talking over me and yelled. When I asked her to stop speaking over me she hung up on me. Terrible experience all around. read more

Dr. Andrew Blank is a very knowledgeable and competent gastroenterologist. He is very thorough, listens well, knows his craft and cares.

My wife has been with Dr Oustecky for years. Outstanding professional, courteous, thoughtful who has managed my wife's autoimmune disease beyond expectations such that I became a patient. Office is immaculate, staff is wonderful. I'd give it a 10 if the scale allowed. read more

Dr. Oustecky and the PA, Andrea, are great, but the office staff is horrible. They gave my daughter the wrong date, time and address for her CT scan. The dr prescribed medication which had a co-payment of $1,500!! Long story short, the drug company worked with us to get the meds with a low co-pay or even a zero co-pay, but the dr office needed to complete a form. We have made SEVERAL phone calls to the office to be sure they completed their portion of the form. it has been several days and still has not been completed. The office staff is completely incompetent. There is zero compassion or concern for the patients. The staff is rude and completely uncaring. Most of them should find another career path. They are not suited to be working with patients who require compassion. read more

Terrible and unsatisfactory Service by Front Desk...and Lab technician. Today's appointment with Dr. Sharda Ramsaroop was not a pleasant experience at all. Arrived at 12:45/50 at the office, signed the form and waited for nearly 1 hour, all the other patients were called in, I went to the Front Desk and asked how long? then they said ...no staff knows about my signing the form, they are asking me lots of questions .....not doing their JOB. Did you signed, what time ?, what 's your name etc...unnecessary questions where they should know everything ...on the top they were going to charge me $ 50. for ..NO SHOW APPOINTMENT. That's terrible. It's not a PRIMARY CARE, this is absolutely NO ONE CARES medical office. in August , a LAB TECHNCIAN, did the Blood work and My hand was BLEEDING for a long time, BLOOD was dripping on my hand bags and fingers....was terrible, I called Front desk ,they said send an email and photo.I did everything but there was no RESPONSE from the office, NO EMAIL or phone call for courtesy .... Because NO ONE CARES TO READ REVIEWS, NO ONC CARES ABOUT the PATIENT... Not going anymore to this NORTH EAST PRIMARY CARE.. To all my respect to my DR. If I could give zero stars I would!! We had an Awful experience with Dr. Oustecky in this group. The office was clean and organized with not much of a weight however this doctor made our experience so uncomfortable . He is rude, obnoxious and condescending to a young man, my son , who just lost his father four months ago! He criticized him for having his mother along on the visit when he was doubled over in pain the night before and full of fear that he may be suffering from a chronic issue similar to his . This was the last thing my son needed to be shamed for wanting his mother along on the visit who has medical background and knowledge. Shame on this so-called doctor, he is a very unprofessional and shouldn't even practice with an attitude like this! He had absolutely zero bedside manner, no compassion !! read more

Entered the waiting area to loud pop/dance music. (Nobody under age 50 waiting). Couldn't hear the young woman at the desk. Asked her to turn down the music and got a dirty look. Asked a different person to turn it down a few minutes later. Another dirty look but she did adjust the volume. Still too loud. Apparently the young ladies behind the counter believe the music is for their enjoyment and not to provide a pleasant atmosphere for patients. Extremely unprofessional. read more

I am an educated 67 year old woman who was dumped by Dr. Preeti Mehta this past week. The bottom line is that this office is probably adequate for routine colonoscopies. But, if you have an inquiring mind and want to ask tough questions, you're unlikely to be happy here. I found her dismissive of my concerns, answering questions in a very offhand manner, and ordering tests left and right without explaining why. Further, she seemed totally unwilling to have her instructions questioned. Also, my experience is that there is a major disconnect between the doctors and the staff. For example, the doctor ordered a colon cleanse and told me to come back in a week, but the staff told me there were no appointments available for three weeks. I had talked to the doctor and scheduled a colonoscopy. The doctor then left the room and an assistant came in with instructions which I was surprised to see included an endoscopy and prep procedures which concerned me, including the instruction to take SIX doses of Miralax. Of course, the assistant was unable to answer my questions about these issues but just repeated that that's what the doctor had ordered. When I went home I called the manufacturer of Miralax (Bayer), asked about the dosage and was told they did not recommend taking more than one dose daily. So I called the doctor's office and spoke to a DIFFERENT PA and told her about my call to Bayer. She said "maybe you could take Dulcolax instead", a response that did not seem thought out or appropriate. The following day, Dr. Preeti called me and in an angry tone, demanded to know why I had called my primary care physician about this, undermining her authority. I told her I did not call my PCP. She said "You didn't call Dr. Baker"? I said "I don't know any Dr. Baker". She said, "Oh, I mean Dr Bayer". I told her I called Bayer Corporation as a consumer to inquire about the maximum daily Miralax dosage recommendation. I said I was concerned because of another condition I have. She scolded me for not bringing it up until now, except I had told the PA on my first visit and it's on the intake form. Disconnect!! To that, she responded extremely negatively and told me she did not think I was a good fit for her practice and emailed me the names of 3 other gastroenterologists. Wow. My husband and I have both lost confidence in DDC, and they have now lost two patients. Questionable directives, poor listening skills, and an unresponsive staff are simply unacceptable. read more

My appointment although the first appointment of the day was on time. I felt the nurse and PA asked very good questions and they had excellent notes from my last visit. I also needed an adjustment on my medicine prescription and the office which has always been very pleasant was nice enough to call me back to let me know that the prescription was changed. I felt Andrea, my PA , was very good at listening to the issues and had several very good solutions on the approach. All in all I highly recommend DDC with having a very good experience with everyone. read more

This has never happened to me before! I showed up for a 9AM appointment which was confirmed. The office wasn't opened until 9:10AM. Then Dr P. Metha did not arrive until 10AM which meant I had to wait. Of course they wanted to offload me to the PA but their PA sucks - I've seen him before! He could care less about your GI concerns. Needed to do blood work and the staff appeared inexperience. Not surprising because they missed taking a vial of blood for the blood test specific for checking GI problems. Got a call asking if I could come back to give the blood. For context this is not the first time I'm visiting with Dr P. Metha. Saw her in 2021 and was subsequently offloaded to the PA. Paid for a barrage of tests and they concluded nothing. Still having the problem so I went back. They want another barrage of tests. Dr P Metha definitely knows her stuff but everything else about DDC needs improvement from their medical assistants, call center and billing staff. I've felt like a cash cow back in 2021 and still feel the same way. Can these doctor offices stop telling us it's covered by insurance? Covered by insurance does not mean free. We're still paying coinsurance, copays and deductibles and whatever other fee type insurance companies come up with to get us to pay upfront and after the fact for medical care. Needless to say I'm done with Digestive Disease Care!!!! read more

I have had an unacceptable experience at this practice's East Setauket, NY location. Dr. Preeti Mehta is truly a wonderful doctor with the bedside manor of an angel, unfortunately I can not say the same about a couple of members of her front staff, The check-in/out girl (I believe she pronounces her name Laura with a latin accent) and her current office manager-don't know this person's name. 1st the front check in/out girl asks for a copayment prior to my colonoscopy-questionable since I do ALWAYS call and verify procedures/cost with my insurance company prior to my visits as to avoid surprises- when I questioned her about it, and asked to be billed, she gives me a complete bullshit response "Its required to be submitted to the insurance company with office notes", then had the nerve to tell me to go outside and ask my companion if they have the money for the copay-WHAT???? That's the first dumb move. Next since I didn't have the copayment and refused to go get money from my sister who was waiting for me in the car, she then calls me a few hours after I arrived home-still groggy after having been sedated for the procedure-and insisted that I provide a credit card via telephone to make the copay-I complied ONLY because I know I have and will keep my follow-up appointment. Next you have the incompetent Office Manager who refused to provide me with a doctor's note for my procedure to provide my employer to be compensated for the day off to have this done. THIS idiot cites HIPPA laws-I tried to explain HIPPA regulations do NOT pertain to the patient who is giving written authorization to disclose limited, and I mean EXTREMELY limited information in the note, but again I just cut that debate short as I realized swiftly that I was debating with an individual who spew out words that they themselves are not well versed in but rather heard for "as long as I can remember". I have reached out to Dr. P. Mehta to voice my complaint but I have yet to receive a call back. That's ok because I will very respectfully express my disappointment and annoyance with her staff at our next meeting. Dr. Preeti Mehta is indeed a wonderful doctor and I will return to her if needed, however it will NOT be in her E. Setauket office as those people are- She needs to replace those 2 staff members with more competent individuals after all they are an extension of her and a representation of her office. read more

I cannot say enough about Doctor Preeti Mehta. She is the most caring, articulate and understanding Doctor I have ever encountered (and I've been to a lot of doctors!). Who honestly wants to get a colonoscopy?... Didn't think so, but Dr. Mehta and her team make you feel so comfortable. I had seen the Dr two or three times before we decided to go ahead and get a colonoscopy. She took the time to listen to me and make a plan that I felt comfortable with. I have told her, I wish she could be my primary care physician. She is wonderful! If you ever need anything done this is the place to go. The staff is super helpful, the hours are great. I've been seeing Dr. N. Mehta for several months. When I first came into the office, I was barely able to walk from pain. After diagnosis and treatment, I am feeling back to "normal". Not only did Dr. Mehta cure my issues, he and his staff treated me with both respect and friendliness. Dr. Mehta is not the type of doctor who has an attitude of superiority. He takes his time with you and makes you comfortable. I have had 2 endoscopies and unlike prior endoscopies, I was impressed with the prowess of the anesthesiologist in finding veins on a difficult person and I did not have a cough or any aftereffects from having the scope down my throat. The staff is very friendly and sympathetic. I am very happy with Dr. Mehta and his staff. I highly recommend them. read more

The doctors and PA were very nice, as were the secretaries BUT we had to wait an hour and 15 minutes past our appointment time to be seen. Not just that, the doctor Guarenteed me that my blood work results would be back day of... to which I responded that I knew this would not happen (since I have been to many other doctors and this has NEVER happened, labs take at least a week) she then told me that they would DEFINITELY be in by the next day. I told her I would post her praising her all over social media If the results came back so quickly!! But I just called today a day later and the secretary told me the doctors don't know how long it takes and that I won't get results until at least Friday! That is 3 days from now, so just to be fair since I would have given a great review if the results came back so quickly I had to leave my bad review since she essentially lied to my face. read more

A crazy looking person in purple scrub comes in and and tries to put an iv in me. I said no the doctor said I don't need that. She looked confused and walked out. I recently had a procedure at this location a few weeks ago. Unfortunately this is the only location site that accepts Emblem Health-GHI. My experience during the procedure was not good. The office is very outdated. Looking beyond the appearance of the office, the staffs were not that friendly. The young nurse that took my A1C is very inexperienced. She didnt turn the glucose meter on after she pricked my finger. When she pricked my finger for blood; instead of pricking the edge of my finger to apply a drop of blood onto the stick, she went straight into the meaty part which made me bleed profusely. I was very upset & worried that my finger wouldn't stop bleeding. She kept handing me fresh tissues that kept getting soaked up with my blood. She then bandaged my finger to apply pressure so that it would stop bleeding. The bandage looked as if a child had put it on my finger & the blood was starting to soak thru. Then came time to prep me for the anesthesia. The young nurse had difficulty finding a vein in my arm. She kept slapping my inner elbow as if the vein will magically surface. I asked her why don't she just go to the obvious place... like the top of my hand?! The anesthesiologist is very rough and needs to have her bedside manners in check. When she connected me to the anesthesia, she kept twisting and turning the needle that was already in my vein as if she was unscrewing a cork out of a wine bottle. I complained that she was hurting me. And that was the last thing I remember when I woke up when the procedure was over. She and the nurse seemed to want to rush me up & out of recovery to get the next patient in. I pray that i don't have to go back to this location for return procedures. Hopefully the other location will take my insurance coverage by then. Based on this horrible experience, I am rating this location 1 star. This is not a reflection on the doctor who performed the colonoscopy. Dr Sandberg is wonderful. He came into the recovery room to make sure I was feeling ok after the procedure. read more

Booked an appointment for a endoscopy. The place wants a $250 deposit for the procedure to cover deductible, which I understand. But they will NOT tell you how much might the procedure cost and how much will the patient end up paying. I dont see why that would be a difficult things to do given that they know what all procedure codes will they file a claim for with the insurance and what their contracted rate is, per procedure code. Also, this is definitely NOT the first time you are doing this procedure with this insurance. So its not that difficult to provide estimates. read more

Very bad organization. My husband's appointment was cancelled at the last moment while he was waiting for his ride outside in the cold. They do not care about patients. When called back they do not pick up calls and got routed to a different office location, where they do not have a clue on what is going on.. Receptionist said my reports are ok after my procedure was done as the doctor was busy with another patient. I was not able to see the doctor and discuss. I should have stayed away after Dr. Nilesh Mehta arrived to the exam room 1 hour late. But, I still decided to have him perform an endoscopy so I made an appointment and later received a phone call from DIgestive Disease Care stating that my insurance will cover it and that I need to pay $250, which later I find out is only a deposit. A few weeks later I look on my insurance policy and see multiple expensive claims. A few were in the thousands of dollars. Some were even showing as out of network when the doctor is In Network. I called to find out what is going on and why are some showing Out-of-Network. I'm forwarded to their billing department who then tells me their system is down and they will get back to me. 1 month later and still never got a call back. I decide to call back and get the same answer "We are having system issues and we cant get into the system right now." I dont understand how the system is having issues when they have still been sending me bills. read more

Went here for a procedure. Was told my insurance would cover the procedure and no mention of what my copay would be. After the procedure, I was billed both by the clinic and the lab that they used. Called them several times and was told by their billing manager, Sejal,that she will contact the lab in attempting to get this resolved. Three months later, the same balance still remains. I got tired of the same go around and just paid it. I would not use this clinic ever again. read more

I just want to be clear that this review is more about the clinic rather than the doctors. The doctors are actually very nice but that is only judging from the 10-15 minutes that I get to see them while I am there. I have visited the Hillside location about 8 times in the passed year due to an ongoing condition. STAY AWAY FROM THE HILLSIDE CLINIC!!! IT IS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! This clinic is very disorganized. Each time I visited I had to wait about 30-60 minutes just to be brought in. There have been 2 different occasions when I received a call a day before my appointments and was told they were postponed hours later. Other times I went in expecting to scheduled to see one doctor and actually seeing another who I have never dealt with. There have been times when I've called the clinic with a concern and they would always say they will speak with the doctor and they will call me back but I never receive a call back. One time I called due to bleeding and they said the doctor will schedule an endoscopy and explained that I would need to prepare and fast that day. The day the appointment came and the doctor had no idea what I was referring to and claimed I had nothing but a check up scheduled that day. I went through all the preparation for nothing! read more
