I reached out to this business with the following inquiry: "Hi, I have a unique request. I'm looking to rent a microphone & speaker for a memorial that will be held in Oceanside on May 11th. Is this something you offer? We are not looking for a DJ or lighting for this event. Thank you! "" As part of the inquiry form, I had to specify the date I was inquiring about. I received a seemingly automated response, to which I replied, "I assume you did not receive my message? Thank you." I assumed he didn't read it because I was not inquiring about DJ services. I can't imagine if you're planning an event that requires audio in the Palm Springs area that there is a better choice than Geoff and Digital Party Sound. After shopping around a bit, we chose to work with him on our wedding at the Cree Estate in Cathedral City. He was a great communicator and we appreciated his expertise and fair pricing. While he offers DJ services, we opted to create our own playlists and he gave some great guidance on organizing it from our ceremony to our cocktail hour to our dinner and dancing. He also had some fun ideas that I really appreciated (our big day was on May the 4th and I took his suggestion to walk down the aisle to Darth Vader's theme song). On top of all this, he had familiarity with the property and the local vendors we worked with, and took the time to do a walkthrough with us the day before with our day-of tech, Ernie, who was also terrific. DPS and owner Geoff were great at communicating with our team from the get-go! We had some last-minute changes to our event and needed a DJ plus an AV team to help with our large Corporate event - we reached out to Geoff and notified him that we needed his assistance and that the event was less than 1 month away! Geoff immediately got to planning and working and made sure that we had everything we needed for our event. There were many moving pieces and communication that was going back and forth from within our internal team, and so relaying info to Geoff was imperative and he was patient! Now let's talk about the FUN aspect of our event! Geoff and his team showed up not just in time, but we were impressed because they showed up EARLY! DPS was hired not just to provide AV services, but they were hired to provide DJ services as well! This was a 2-DAY event, and there were varying moving pieces and themes - and DPS came through, BIG TIME! Their AV services coordinated with our venue (LARGE HOTEL IN DANA POINT) and on the DJ side of things, the main-man-himself, Geoff was the DJ for both nights - and let me just say that as the one managing this large event, I, and our team were very THRILLED and happy with all of our guests and members reactions - they were telling us just how awesome our DJ was doing! Let me begin by saying Geoff is one amazing guy. I needed a company to do my lighting for my 50th birthday celebration and was worried about not finding someone here in the desert. After a few calls to different companies, I found this one. I'm going to assume Geoff heard / felt my concern about what vision I was looking for after emailing him some ideas, let's just say he exceeded my expectations. After meeting him in person at the venue, I knew immediately that he was legitimate. Geoff's persona is very genuine, he's very professional, caring and all around good guy. Before my party was about to begin, the room was lit up with just the overhead lights but I seen all these trusses everywhere, Geoff asked me to step outside the room because he wanted to surprise me. I can't say enough good things about Geoff Allen! As an audio engineer who works at a lot of weddings every year, my top priority for my wedding was having a great DJ. I was concerned with both sound quality and the flow of music at the reception. Geoff was perfect. Unlike a lot of DJ's who view wedding receptions as a mini concert/performance for themselves, Geoff's main goal was to play the music that my guests would dance to and have fun with. He asked for requests from us before the big day, and we were happy to give him a bunch of music we thought would work. However, we also told him that if anything we suggested bummed out the crowd he should switch it up and use his expertise to pick other music. In all honesty, I have no idea what percentage of the music he ultimately played was on my request list verses songs he picked himself. All I know is that literally 80% of my guests were on the dance floor 90% of the time. I don't think there was a single dud song he played that made a significant amount of people stop dancing (if he did, he switched to a better song so quickly that I didn't notice). Every song he played was seemingly a crowd favorite. I have no idea how he did it! I have either worked, or been a guest at over 75 weddings in the last 18 months, and I've never been at a wedding where the guests had more fun than my wedding. It was 100% because of Geoff! My groomsmen surprised me and put together a mash-up of songs that we grew up on. Not only was he willing to play it, (some DJ's would've laughed in my friends' faces since it was by no means professionally made), but he boosted them up by saying how cool he thought it was. He was even able to keep the whole crowd into it even though it was essentially a 16 min long inside joke between 5 people. He was nice, easy to work with, professional, and very reasonably priced. Every one of our vendors were amazing, but I really believe the DJ is what will make or break your reception. You will NOT not be disappointed with Geoff. I know this review has been a lot of rambling and is way too long, but truly can not say enough positive things about Geoff Allan and DIGITAL PARTY SOUND & Event Productions!!! read more
