She walks me back to the bday room , turns on the lights , basically pushes the seal for the kids in the door and starts to walk out . I said " excuse me so what do I do from here . She said , "you get skates and skate , rolls her eyes and exits " . Since it was my daughter's birthday I didn't want to get my blood pressure sky high so , I just said ok thank you . Then I wanted to know when the pizza was going to come since we were waiting for it for over an hour and we paid 350$ for the room for an hour . She said sorry we have nothing to do with that . She said you probably should be asking the snack bar not her. So me and my husband went over to the snack bar. Staff is extremely rude , no customer service what so ever . The young man when I was trying to get skates was even looking at me and staring at me , not saying a word to me. It took the older gentleman to say hi to me so I can rent some skates . The kids working there need lessons in customer service . Here is a tip ... Leave the entitled attitude at the door, get off your phones, and take off the sunglasses ... Your in a building , UV rays aren't going to harm you . Flirt with guys outside of the work place. Be professional and enthusiastic coming to your job . However that doesn't make up for the fact that the restrooms here are sub par even by highway rest stop standards. The seats are falling off of their base and expect to be snacked on by mosquitoes at night. The beer and food prices are high but I didn't feel gouged like at a Dodger game. The positives include free parking and cheap tickets. If you want to see a ball game for cheap and don't mind the dilapidated surroundings in a bad area of town than this is a good place to go. I definitely would come back but I think that's just because my love for baseball trumps any fear of potentially acquiring body lice. I would rate the ballpark 2 stars but can give the Blaze three as I'm just happy to have them still in Bakersfield.

There's plenty of open space for kids to run around or to play soccer. There's one softball diamond that seemed clean and nicely maintained. There were two basketball courts, two volleyball courts (but no nets), two large picnic areas that can be reserved, and kids play toys. This residential park is very quiet and I rarely see many people using it. There aren't too many strange folks hanging around either, which is nice. Frankly, I think most people don't even know about this park!

Excellent musicians and a fabulous lead singer who loves to engage with the audience in sing alongs. Then an LA band called Tropa Magica. Amazing guitar players who threw down an awesome guitar duel. But the icing on the cake was the best drum solo I have ever heard. Good food & libations. Stramler park is one of Bakersfield's older parks. It is a bit rundown but still a good venue for festivals here in town. The grassy areas are a bit uneven so you want to be careful where you step. But they have a huge area with metal picnic tables, so you can usually find a seat when you are ready to eat. There were lots of choices for beer, hard cider & seltzer's. About 7 food vendors, not quite sure. They have only one public bathroom, but there were ample port a potties set up. It was a good time had by all!

I love this park. As a non-profit organization, we need to be able to rent a fenced space so we…read morecan hold our biggest fundraiser of the year here. It holds at least 2000 people comfortably, and allows us to set up a full vendor village with over 50 canopies without feeling crowded. It has a large stage, a permanent structure from which you can serve refreshments, including BBQ facilities and deep pit; and it has a building that can serve as a ticket booth. There are four permanent restrooms. There are about fifty picnic tables as well, plenty of seating for a big crowd. We ended up renting a stage because the bars on the one they have are not conducive to crowds viewing the entertainers. There is a lot of electricity available, although the circuits are a little strange. Pay attention to the circuit boards, and don't overload the breakers. There's a sand pit and a volleyball net; we didn't really use that. It's becoming a little dilapidated, and serious renovation of the structures is probably overdue. They have pretty much gotten rid of the gophers, though, so the ground is a little safer to walk on. The rear parking lot is not marked for parking. This means you need to have your own chalk lines and cones, plus numerous staff people out there all day to make sure idiots don;t part badly. This is a serious problem. Attached to Stramler is Metro Park, and you can rent both at the same time. Metro has a playground for little kids, and that's a nice touch for family events. If you're renting the park, prepare for the paperwork avalanche of your life. Everything about the process is difficult. They require you to rent dumpsters and port-o-potties, to have serious liability insurance, which is part of the paperwork nightmare. They need extra paperwork that most agents don't just give you. Make sure you understand this. On top of that, they require your security company to provide the signed contract, AND a copy of THEIR liability insurance, with the similar demand for extra paperwork. Gotta love the County.

And when they are in use, there is a fun, family friendly energy whic radiates throughout the park. It's great to know recreation areas like this are a part of our community. There is also a little park with play equipment to entertain little kids during a long baseball game, as well as an outdoor fitness park where one could get as nice of a full body workout as any gym.

It's easy to get to even with all of the parking lot construction going on. The concession stands have your typical game day snacks such as hot dogs, Chile dogs, nachos, candy bars and different types of drinks. There's really not a bad seat in the house. Go watch a BC football game and support the community college.

I was disappointed that at the beginning of the fourth quarter all the concession stands and souvenir boots were closed. Without warning. I want to get my son a T-shirt and another snack, but as I mentioned everything was closed and they didn't even let us know that it was going to close. If you're going to close things early please make an announcement over the PA system.

We go as often as we can -- and every time, it feels like you're right in the middle of the action. The intimate atmosphere of the arena makes a huge difference. You're not just watching the game -- you're in it. One of our favorite memories? Last season, we were lucky enough to be there when Jemel Jones dropped 45 points against CSUN -- breaking the school's single-game scoring record in the process. The energy in the building was unreal. Huge comeback, electric crowd, and a win we'll be talking about for years. Nights like that remind you why live sports are so magical. The fan experience here is top-tier -- no bad seats, great energy, and a program that clearly takes pride in putting on a great show for the community. If you're in Bakersfield and haven't been to a game yet, you're missing out. This is hometown basketball at its best. I would Love to work here

My friend, Joan, likes to bring her dogs here to play and get exercise, but I'd never joined her so I was missing out on all the other opportunities there are here for good clean outdoor fun in the sun. There's quite a bit of equipment for children of all ages to clamber about and plenty of bark below to help soften a fall. There are public restrooms, though I did notice that there were also port-a-potties out front - not sure what was up with that. There is a large covered area with long picnic tables and adjacent barbecue grills perfect for large groups to picnic. You can reserve this picnic shelter, which has a capacity of 80 people, for your own group by contacting the NOR Parks & Recreation District at 392-2010 and filling out an application which can be downloaded here http://norfun.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/FR-100-Use-of-Facility-Online-Packet.pdf If you're into outdoorsy sports, there are four lighted sofball diamonds complete with bleachers. There is also a full sized tennis court, a full sized basketball court, and two basketball half courts. There were people practicing or playing on two of the baseball diamonds and on the tennis courts and random people picnicking with families the day of our visit. There is plenty of grass for kids or dogs to play on (please clean up after both groups) and picnic tables scattered randomly about the park. I think I may join my friend and her dogs for their next outing here.
