I was first recommended this place by my friend who is a graphic designer. I wanted a place that could print a small run of exhibition invitations to a high standard at a reasonable price. I have also used them to print my business cards. I have been impressed with the quality of their printing and card, it gives a good impression. They are able to print in small batches and not charge the earth by using digital printing rather than traditional methods. They also offer a design consultancy service.

The new site can recycle many more materials, and has been very well designed to cope with high volumes of traffic on busy weekends. The unloading area is raised above a series of giant skips. The purpose of each is clearly designated. This keeps pedestrians well away from the large vehicles used for moving the rubbish around the tip. Pros New layout provide a safe and ordered environment even at busy times. Many different materials can be sorted and recycled. Cons Some materials and items have to be recycled in a different area from the main disposal area, necessitating two stops. Children are not allowed out of cars, and the drive around the perimeter of the site only provides a limited view of the giant bulldozers in operation. In summary, the site provides an excellent trip out for adults and their household waste, but although initially exciting for children, they may become frustrated or bored by only fleeting glimpses of heavy machinery. My toddler fell asleep during the third visit of the weekend.

Most Mailboxes Etc are pretty accommodating. I walked in this morning to an empty store and two…read moreworking attendants. Needed a last minute print job done (11x17 paper poster ) - nothing fancy - just 6-10 A3 posters. There was no one in there. No customers in line. No printers running. 2 working attendants. Completely silent. The attendant who attempted to help me looked visibly annoyed "because someone didn't show up for their shift" and immediately told me in a smug voice - "you can leave your usb drive here and we ll print it. But I don't know when it will be done. We re completely backed up. We ll call you." Me: how long do you think it will take? Attendant: *rolls eyes* - I don't know. The job is very simple and only took Brighton Print Centre 2 minutes to complete. Because MBE was "too busy". There WAS no one in there! Wtf. Lol. I could literally do the job myself. Open file. Select format. Print. Brighton Print Centre took they're time, with phones ringing, and two people in queue to quickly print it out for me. I'll give MBE two stars cause I genuinely use the service worldwide and maybe the attendant was having a bad morning. But still.. a £6 job now cost me £20 cause I had to take an Uber to a more accommodating shop.

I regularly buy old or re-issued albums labels like Light In The Attic and always feel over the moon when they arrive in brown hardback envelopes marked Don't Bend. The problem is, it's tricky sending albums to other people when it's so damn hard buying 12" mailers. There used to be lots of stationary shops selling stuff like this but it's now a case of either buying a case of 50 online or going to Mailboxes Etc and shelling out a couple of pounds for a solitary one. As you might have guessed, Mailboxes Etc is not the cheapest place to buy padded envelopes and mailers. They do however, have a big stock of different sizes ones alongside bubblewrap, sharpies, poster rolls, stationary, sellotape and big packs of paper. I go there every now and then and am grateful they're still going but god damn, their prices are high! For those with deep pockets, they also do digital printing, faxing, packaging and courier services.

It's spooky to its bones, and oddly enough, that great enigma and self proclaimed 'Beast', Magick man Aleister Crowley is buried here. Amongst all the mausoleums, anchor ornamented tombs and broken angels you'll find him brooding six feet under. Enough said. If you fancy a walk and are a bit gothic, this is a beautiful place to wander in search of inspiration. It's huge, climbing up the hillside parallel with Bear Rd.

The Woodvale Crematorium was a regular 'haunt' for me whilst studying for my BA. I lived just…read morearound the corner and found this a nice place to come and study without distraction. Another of the Nineteenth Century cemeteries in the city, this one is currently full! Compared to some of the other sites, this is the goth's best bet. It is a classic cemetery from a hammer horror film and there are numerous impressive crypts and statues dotted throughout. A small chapel is there with an impressive gothic arch tacked on the side. As Richard mentions, it is also the final resting place of Crowley and worth having a wander around to find his headstone. Whilst you are right in the middle of busy Lewes road, 2 minutes in and you really feel that you have escaped the city and stumbled onto a film set. Don't get put off by funeral stigma, this is a lovely undervisited site.
