From the owner: State of Play is a laboratory for creativity and wonder. Our preferred vehicle for learning and…read moredevelopment is open-ended play and art exploration. Play allows children to carry out skills such as critical thinking, perseverance, conflict resolution, collaboration, and emotional regulation. Our State of Play educators offer a child-led curriculum, providing children with a variety of materials to foster investigation and multiple possibilities. As aspiring allies, State of Play strives to provide a safe and inclusive space committed to offering programming that is rich with opportunities to develop socially minded thinkers; celebrating inclusivity, embodying anti-racism, and empowering our youngest learners to be advocates. We wish to motivate and inspire wonder, joy, and creativity in all children who are part of this space. So whether you visit State of Play for the geometric play fort, inspiring art studio, sensory bins, block zone, or glow cave (yes, we said glow cave), what you and your children will walk away with is sure to be a smile, a warm feeling of acceptance, and maybe a little paint under your nails!

The curriculum and teachers work wonders, I've seen these preschool kids working at a first grade level. Its unfortunate the previous reviewer happened to arrive on an off day. I can guess when this happened because we've been using this daycare for years and there was a brief rough patch as a favorite teacher left (husband was relocated) and there were two others out sick. Aside from that brief time the daycare has run like clockwork and we are more than happy to be there.

We walked in to do a tour, the woman was unorganized and frazzled (owner? short, heavy with…read moreglasses). They still had a calender up from 2011, she said she was "hanging up the new one today" (it's August!) there was a little girl in time out because she was throwing a "fit" the woman said to us "oh, ya she's throwing a fit, don't mind her" rather than either ignoring it or explaining that it's their policy to give alone time for those kids. Then, another employee (who didn't know we were there) started yelling at the little girl in a threatening manner. I walked out, but not before telling the woman that she needs to either fire or properly train the other worker and before telling her that I didn't appreciate her wasting our time, as she didn't have the information she said she would have ready for us. NO THANK YOU!!!!
