My opinion is based not only on academics, but safety, teachers, front office staff and extra curricular activities. Academics are very good. The safety, in my opinion, is terrible. Anyone can get into the building at anytime quite easily. I was in law enforcement for 10 years so I believe I'm qualified to assess the building's security. Teachers and extra curricular activities are very good as well. This brings me to the front office. Horrible. I have dealt with this individual on several occasions over the past four years and observed this person's interactions with others so I could rule out whether it was just a personality conflict between the two of us. It is not. The person at the front desk is rude and often ignores people who are standing right in front of her! She always makes you feel like a bother. She emanates negative energy and rarely smiles or says things like please or thank you. Overall the school is in my opinion slightly better than average and will hopefully improve on the negatives mentioned above. I give Edison Park Elementary 7 tassels out of 10.

This school is safe, spacious, clean, and heavy on parental involvement. The student body is diverse - 60 percent white, 30 percent Hispanic. A small portion of the children here are native Polish speakers. Nearly 50 percent of students are classified as "low income." What does all of this mean? Dever's student population hits a great balance that is rarely found in public schools - one that is highly beneficial for any parents who want their kids to learn in a diverse environment. If you live in the attendance zone for Dever and are debating whether to send your children to private school or enter the charter or magnet lottery, I would highly encourage you to first consider this neighborhood school. We love SJS! The school and Parish are very active and upbeat. They are always improving things…read moreso our kids have the best possible education and environment. They just got new windows in part of the school and updated the courtyard with brand new play equipment, turf, decking and benches. There's also a brand new STEAM lab for the older kids. I don't know much about the "big kid" classes since my son is in PK, but I've heard great things and have met a few WONDERFUL teachers of the higher grades. The class sizes are smaller (there are two 3 year old PK and two 4 year old PK's instead of one giant class for each). PK follows the Big Day curriculum and keeps very active. Since my son has started PK4 he has learned so much! We also love that there is after care both before and after school. We don't use the before school care but we do use Extended Care for after school, which makes life easier for working parents. I also love that the teachers all have their own blogs and post pictures and information about what the kids do all day.

I used to cover up my body and hair because of my culture and because of that I was called a bomber, Terriots, and long nose. most of the guys in the school act very gay, around me knowing that in my culture i can't support LGBTQ2+ and was not allowed to talk or sit next to a boy. they made me feel very uncomfortable, and insecure about my face and nose, which made me hide it with makeup. they would always follow me while screaming and saying I'm gay, which people have spread rumors about me and how I was a pick me girl. because of that I didn't have any friends and would eat in the bathroom while crying. Teachers are horriable. I tried telling the teacher about this multiple times, and the same words she said was "boys will be boys, I mean you do look gay" after she said that those words haunted me throughout graduation. i now do online high school because I'm scared something like this would happen again.

The students are very inclusive and welcoming here, but the teachers and staff treat them like animals. Security is not existent here, drugs abuse among good, well respected students is out of control, and all the school does is continues changing course materials and curriculums to become more progressive. The number of threatening emails, phone calls, and letters sent by 'Assistant Principals' is outrageous. There is definitely many class-action lawsuits in the making here...
