I was a student in the 2024-2025 school year in 3rd grade. I am here to write a review as a 10 year…read moreold. I am now jn forth grade, and I'm being serious. If I can rate this in the negative numbers, I fucking would. If you're Muslim, good luck on noting getting death threats and called Osama Bin Ladens brother. One prayer I'm Islam is Thuhr Prayer which is at midday. That's usually during recess, which means I have to pray during midday. It usually takes me 10 minutes, and I was the leader, which means I am leading a bunch of other kids, probably like 20. I prayed and due to that, I had to be late to class because I had to read long recitations. so I get sent to the office for being late, and I explain to the deen about this. And keep in mind I told him I'm Muslim and what does he say? "This isn't church buddy!" I told this idiot that I am Muslim. So just to piss him off, I also prayed Asr prayer which is after midday. So after the bell rings, that's near the prayer. So I prayed in the field just to piss him off. At the end of prayer, he insults me again, so I told him, "There are different religions by the way. Please learn that." I told him that to teach him. And don't even get me started on Ramadan. As most of you peopel know, you don't eat from dawn to sunset for 30 days. Simple. For the Muslim kids that fast, there is a table outside the cafeteria to nit see a bunch of kids eat. That is smart, but in the dumbest way possible. Why? Well, there is a window outside the cafeteria and all the kids who aren't fasting go to that window, eat in front of it, and I and all the kids that fats are seeing the kids eat. It's one problem after another. And now I'm reading the Quran during reading time in class. For those who don't know, the Quran is the Muslim version of the bible. I'm reading it and keep in mind it's in arabic. I can read Arabic. The teacher comes and says, "That book is not in English." He then lectures me and goes like "You need a book in English" and I get sent to the office. Now I have two adults lecturing me at the same time. The next day, I bring a Quran with tafsir, which basically has Arabic, but English on the side. I read, and then my mentally ill teacher says, "read literature". Then lectures me again. To be honest, what is going in this country? Since 9/11, arabs have been criticized in america and killed by gangs. Just complete racism.

I am hoping that the current principal stays with the school at least until my daughter graduates. ;) Because of the pandemic, I was very concerned about my daughter's progress. That being said my opinion about Edison Park Elementary is that it is slightly better than average. My opinion is based not only on academics, but safety, teachers, front office staff and extra curricular activities. Academics are very good. The safety, in my opinion, is terrible. Anyone can get into the building at anytime quite easily. I was in law enforcement for 10 years so I believe I'm qualified to assess the building's security. Teachers and extra curricular activities are very good as well. This brings me to the front office. Horrible. I have dealt with this individual on several occasions over the past four years and observed this person's interactions with others so I could rule out whether it was just a personality conflict between the two of us. It is not. The person at the front desk is rude and often ignores people who are standing right in front of her! She always makes you feel like a bother. She emanates negative energy and rarely smiles or says things like please or thank you. Overall the school is in my opinion slightly better than average and will hopefully improve on the negatives mentioned above. I give Edison Park Elementary 7 tassels out of 10.

WOW what a great educator! he taught my daughter so many things that made her the student she is today. the student love him because he is funny and never is boring! she had a blast in his room and was always coming home with a story about how cool mr R was. he always took the time to help my daughter and give her the one on one help she needed. he took the time to sit down and write me a letter many times to let me know what a great day she had or something she needed to work on at home. there are regular teachers and then there are the teacher that touch your soul. these 3 teachers i mentioned are the teachers that come into your life and are never forgotten for the rest of your life. there are 2 aides at Dever that shine so bright you need sunglasses. Miss Tony and Mrs. Bruno. these 2 aides go above and beyond their jobs and love the students as if they were theirs! i could never have asked for better aides for my child. these 2 ladies are keepers and it would be a huge disappointment to see either of them go. i just wanted to let you know that you both are greatly loved and i dont know where we would be without you! Dever school is really blessed to have some of the teachers and aides they have and i hope they are treated as the "gold" they really are!!

A woman that worked there said, and I quote "appreciate it, God forbid that you stop the ball." First of all, this is a teacher and parent who's job is to monitor recess either if she was paid to do so or volunteered, to get the balls when they go in the street, which is exactly what happened. Just thought it was very rude.

They just got new windows in part of the school and updated the courtyard with brand new play equipment, turf, decking and benches. There's also a brand new STEAM lab for the older kids. I don't know much about the "big kid" classes since my son is in PK, but I've heard great things and have met a few WONDERFUL teachers of the higher grades. The class sizes are smaller (there are two 3 year old PK and two 4 year old PK's instead of one giant class for each). PK follows the Big Day curriculum and keeps very active. Since my son has started PK4 he has learned so much! We also love that there is after care both before and after school. We don't use the before school care but we do use Extended Care for after school, which makes life easier for working parents. I also love that the teachers all have their own blogs and post pictures and information about what the kids do all day.
