He came the next day, provided me with a detailed, written estimate, and provided a price below three other estimates I had already received (which were all ridiculously too much money). Dirty Gloves came to my rescue a couple months ago (this review should have been written sooner, sorry). I had knee surgery, and my lawn went rogue and out of control. I called Dirty Gloves on recommendation of a friend. Even though I live kind of out of their area of work, they were nice enough to send an absolute angel to mow my lawn. He only had to do the over-grown part, but he did the whole thing, including weed whacking. I couldn't have been happier with the man who showed up and with the job he did. Many thanks to Chris, who handled removal of my parents' very old (and fairly gross) 55 gallon fish tanks and a few other bulky items. Context: My dad has had tropical fish for 30+ years and was recently diagnosed with a severe lung infection. He has been unable to take care of his fish and so we needed the tanks drained and removed. Because he is ill and both him and my mother are hard of English, I called a number of junk removal places to get quotes and this one was the most reasonable in price and most importantly for me, reliable since I was flying in from California to NY to supervise this process since my parents are VERY averse to visitors or any service people entering the home. I needed this to go off without a hitch sometime in the 48 hours I'd be in Poughkeepsie, and Chris made it happen. Pros: Prompt replies to basically any form of communication on earth. I left a VM to start, really not expecting to hear back, and got a text back shortly thereafter. After answering my questions promptly by text, emailed me an estimate -- no nilly willy on the price. Reasonable price. Their quote for the fish tank removal was more than fair compared to the bullshit I got from a few other places I called, and Chris was willing to help with draining the fish tanks without added cost. Cooperative. My parents have a severe phobia of "filth" (I put this in quotations since it's literally a fear of people wearing shoes in and out of the house) and they were happy to oblige and wear disposable booties (they also offered to remove their shoes). On time. I was late to arrive by 10 minutes and by the time I got there, all the fish tanks were out of the house and loaded into the truck, not a hair missing and not a drop of water lost. Cons: Not their fault at all, but they're not the closest to my folks, so unfortunately they are unable to help with snow removal or lawn maintenance. These got to be the nicest, hardest-working guys you'll ever meet! They worked tirelessly, hauling a crap-load of junk, including an old mower, large pieces of wood, a large pile of siding and sofit materials, plus a bunch of other small and large items, from a difficult spot under my deck without complaints, efficiently, in intense humidity and hot hot sun. They were extremely reasonable AND they came over the river for me where they do not even service my area. Had some junk from my back yard removed yesterday. The owner of the company texted saying the workers were on the way without asking if we were available. They let themselves into my back yard without permission and started removing the junk. We had 4 tires removed as well. After all the junk was collected they gave us a price, over priced for sure, and we gave a check. The owner contacted my husband today claiming we owe more money for the tires and if we don't pay he will throw them on our lawn. Do not use them!!
