We met with Kris for our first consultation. We explained our needs and Mr. Frye said he would get back to us with a solution. After two week had passed and no communications with the Ford and Nichols law firm I decided to call them. Of course Mr. Frye was not available and I was told he would return my call. At the end of the day a lady named Abby called me from the Ford and Nichols firm. She had informed my that Mr. Frye had not done anything with our will/trust because he was so busy and would not be able to get to us for a few weeks. It was at that point we decided to fire Mr. Frye and the Ford and Nichols law firm. Mr Frye did not have the professionalism to let us know up front how busy he was and he did not show us the respect of calling us personally. He passed that on to a subordinate employee. I would not recommend the Ford and Nichols law firm for any legal assistance or for that matter any assistance. Maybe they only want the large money making accounts?

I found it necessary to get creative with some logistical plans and unfortunately sending a clone of myself to get things done wasn't an option. That's where Roy came in! We are excited to host thanksgiving dinner in our TN home, however, we are going to be arriving the night before . The thought of flying across the country with our dog and my mom, having a 2.5 hour drive from Nashville to Knoxville AND then doing all the shopping for the meal, the food prep ect....just really sounded like ALOT! I discussed my idea for a plan with Roy about 2 weeks in advance. I placed an online pick up order for groceries and the Sunday before Thanksgiving Roy picked up the order , drove it 45 min away to our home , put the perishables in the fridge and arranged the pantry items on the counter. It feels so good to know we are going to arrive with that big task already taken care of. Roy and I chatted on the phone as well as text and through those communication I felt really good about him being a nice, intelligent and dependable guy. The cost of his service was IMO reasonable and fair. I've always been a fan of creative entrepreneurs and I hope this review helps send Roy some more business. If I could give him 6 stars I would!

As for the error, in the taxes, I have provided screenshots of emails between myself and Mary. Moral of the story do not use these CPAs, as proof by Todd's lying below and unwillingness to make things right when customers have been wronged. I used Culpepper for three years and will not be returning. The first year was excellent, but my experience declined sharply after that. In the second year, communication with Mary became difficult, she was hard to reach and frequently offered excuses for delays. Our taxes are somewhat complex, and I expect extensions, which was the case for both 2023 and 2024. In 2023, despite poor communication, we finalized our taxes shortly after the deadline, so I let it go. 2024, however, was unacceptable. Mary prepared both our business and personal taxes. While working on our personal return, almost a month later, she discovered an error in the business return and attempted to blame me, claiming I hadn't communicated a change. That change was clearly included in the information sheet we provide every year. She eventually corrected the mistake at no charge, but only after deflecting responsibility. Meanwhile, weeks went by between responses, filled with the same excuses as the prior year. She didn't file our taxes until July, over three months past the deadline. I paid the bill but raised no further complaint at the time. Later, my husband called to give them an opportunity to make things right after they charged us an exorbitant fee for both returns, plus penalties from the late filing. Instead of addressing our concerns, they refused to let us speak with anyone other than Mary. She repeatedly placed blame on me and insisted she had done her due diligence, despite the fact that I had documented the gaps in communication with a clear timeline. Nothing was resolved. Because of this, I will no longer use Culpepper and strongly caution others against doing so.

Garland, II, based on his professional misconduct. In 2014, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility filed a petition for discipline against Mr. Garland. The petition alleged, in part, that while handling an adoption case, Mr. Garland failed to communicate appropriately with his clients, failed to exercise reasonable diligence in his representation, and committed professional misconduct. A hearing panel found that Mr. Garland had violated the Rules of Professional Conduct and recommended that he be publicly reprimanded. The hearing panel considered his misconduct in handling the adoption case, his prior disciplinary record, and his experience in the practice of law. Mr. Garland appealed to the Knox County Chancery Court, which affirmed the hearing panel's decision. Mr. Garland appealed to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the trial court. In an opinion authored by Justice Sharon G. Lee, the Court held that Mr. Garland failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of the adoption case, failed to promptly comply with his client's requests for information, and failed to act with diligence in his representation, thereby causing a lengthy delay in the resolution of the adoption. In particular, the Court found Mr. Garland's firm policies, practices, and procedures for communicating with clients and monitoring case files to be ineffective. The Court upheld public censure as an appropriate sanction for Mr. Garland's professional misconduct. In a dissenting opinion, Justice Holly Kirby determined that the Board of Professional Responsibility should have proceeded against Mr. Garland under the rules governing a lawyer's supervision of and responsibility for the conduct of his nonlawyer staff.
